Am rather gutted atm, been informed that a couple of weeks before a glucose tolerance test, carbs should not be restricted
Oh dear
Googled this and seems it's true and would affect the result.
Also discovered that glucosamine that i'm taking in a high dose for my joints can cause insulin resistance
Also found out that peeps with IR are usually low in vit D, which i run of out a while ago.
I give up!!0 -
Anybody can shed light on what is going on with me??
It is nearly day 21 of low carbing......and I have such murderus cravings for bread choc....... very nearly thought oh what the hell.......mmmmm toast

Cravings coz you've had a taster of hubbys carbs and your body wants more.
Cheating is a bad idea as it just starts insane cravings, its toast i find i crave most, but this time around i've been pretty good, although after my burger fest last night i've been craving all sorts0 -
Morning all :hello:
Well I don't remember any of those old coinsObviously too young.
mazzers, I don't have any advice to give you, but what alias suggested about upping the veggie carbs sounds like a good idea. Maybe go the low-gi carbs route??
Well done on the 3lbs off, alias!! You are doing great!! :T
Menu for today:
B - 2 egg cheese/mushroom/mixed peppers/rosemary ham omelette *nomnomnom*
L - 2 low-carb crispbreads with butter & cheese, BNS soup
D - roast chicken, cauli mash, green beans, cheesy leeks
Managed not to cave with the sweetie fest last night, although I did have a few more S&V peanuts than maybe I should have, plus 2 more crispbreads with my wine. Ah well, it was Saturday night & I don't care, neh neh neh!!:rotfl:
Have a good low-carb day :wave:0 -
Morning all
Tossed and turned a bit last night, but thinking the SW red days are the way to go.
Just when i was so focussed.
I just know that any carby foods will make me put any weight i've lost back on, unless like alias said i try to stick to more veg, and fruit i spose, but i think i need to be eating wholemeal carbs too to see how my body deals with them, which is what SW red days are all about, lots of protein, fruit and veg, very limited whole grains but.. low fat.
Quite low GI as sweet suggested.
Will give it a go and will be back to lc after the test as i know its the way for me.
I've ordered more vit D, also lipoleic acid which is giving great results with IR.
Did a bit of an experiment last night and had a small lc meal and tested my sugars which were 8.2 after an hour.
Then had a sausage roll and some chocolate and tested after an hour, was 8.9
after 2hrs was 10.9, and after 3 hrs was 11.8  went to bed then so dont know if it went higher.
Not good i think, was 8.6 this morning after 11hrs so am rather worried as i think it will be bad news, although i'm still learning about these things.
Will test today after going SW/low GI and try to stick to that principle.0 -
Morning!
Just having a break from scrubbing the floors :rotfl:
mazz - I've never taken glucosamine but do have high strength cod liver oil for my joints. I do notice crepitus if I miss a couple of days and it takes a week to get back to normal. Moral of this story - I don't miss any days :rotfl: I know there are worries about vit A overdose but there doesn't seem to be a problem with the 1000mg I take. Also my parents do take much more for their joints and swear they'd be partly crippled if they didn't. It took about a month to see the real benefits.
Off now to do more scrubbing. Have to catch myself when in the mood else it won't get done. The 'mood' doesn't occur nearly half as often as it should :rotfl: Have done kitchen first so it'l be dry and nice again for the cooking time I'll be spending in there later.
One of my cats is off his face on the smell of bleach! He's rolling around and generally behaving like he's on narcotics :rotfl:
See yous all later

Hi all!
Not slacking, just a quick question.
Yesterday on a whim I bought 1lb of frozen lamb/mutton mince. Now I don't know what to do with it :rotfl: Was thinking curry but the instructions say 'cook from frozen, 8-10 mins boiling' May have bought summat a bit rubbish but have no idea
Should I just make my usual curry then add the mince for last bit? Will it produce a lot of water (not on list of ingredients but it is frozen) Or should I make a mince base (then come gravy Q's :rotfl:) and top with sqashed cauli?
Which veg would go with it? I'm thinking carrot for some reason but don't have any, have green beans, leeks and mushrooms though.
Am I fretting over much? And possibly delaying the vacuuming?
Not starting to cook til around 3 so speak up if you have any specialist knowledge :j

Mercy, i think mutton can be tough, personally, i would make the shep pie in gravy, then chuck in the slow cooker or you might end up with chewy bits, no slow cooker then very low simmer on stove for few hours, or oven cook on low for few hours.
Only a suggestion, i'm no expert
I do take high strength cod liver oil and omega 3 fish oils, also chromium, calcium, cinnamon, CLA,, vit D and soon, lipoleic acid, although i did stop when i fell off the wagon, back to it now tho.
I might keep a low profile for a while (prob wont be able to tho coz i love interfering)
certainly wont be posting menus, just a bit of inane nonsense maybe
Although i may decide to bore you with my blood sugar ramblings!0 -
I was considering that, but have been put off by the recent terrible Amazon reviews
