wondered if I could join too :o I have been lurking since new year when i decided to low carb. I am doing my own version of low carb but trying to stick to 6 carbs for breakfast and 12 for lunch and tea ( taken from Dr bernsteins recommendation)
I have lost 1 stone 2lbs so far although nothing this week :(. I think I have stalled because I have been eating some sugar free sweets due to a very sweet tooth . ( I now know that this was a bad idea after reading the last few pages :o )

I am taking extra vits and minerals plus a cod liver oil tab , I am intruiged by the coconut oil. what benefit does this give you. ?

I have learned so much from this thread , so thanks to everybody and I hope its ok to join you all x

    Hello everyone!

I haven't posted for a few days, been really busy recently.

I've been sticking to a half'n'half low carb diet - I'll tend to have porridge or fruit in the morning, then a lc lunch: tinned tuna with a small lc salad or something like a portion of cooked chicken, and then for dinner some sort of meat and veg but no potatoes or pasta. Its been going well, and I have noticed a massive increase in energy. I think cutting out the crisps and junk has helped a lot. Really wore myself down in the first couple of weeks by trying to work out at the gym every day and being really strict with myself over carbs (<20g a day) but I'm being much more sensible now.

Hope its all going well for everyone else.

Oh I do so love grated cauli. Why did I not do this before? Tonight's version had curry powder in it and was just like spicy rice. I had the whole cauli to myself. :D (It was the smallest one you can get though.)

Wonder if you can get some sort of adverse reaction to eating too much cauli.

I might have cauli and leek tomorrow just for a change. :rotfl:

Anyway, hi to the newbies. Nice to see some more faces, mazzers and sweet get[STRIKE] boring really quickly[/STRIKE] get tired filling in the quiet spells on the thread sometimes. :p :A

sistercas....I haven't heard of Dr bernstein but will go google in a moment. As for what benefit the coconut oil gives you........it makes you shiny. :D

(Ask Mercy or read her old posts, she has the 'proper' explanation, I just do what I'm told and use the stuff:rotfl:)

Any signs of leaving mice yet mazzers? And has anyone seen or heard from Daisy lately, she's been a bit quiet?

Aliasjo i have his book which is about controling blood sugar for diabetics, although I am not diabetic I do suffer with impaired glucose tolerance, this means my blood sugars shoot up after meals and I am on way to becoming a diabetic. So I thought I wolud try and postpone or hopefully prevent diabetes by following a low carb way of eating. I have read the atkins way of eating and dr D's at the front of this thread and lcarbing is an absolute revelation to me, my blood sugars are stable and I feel better than In have in many years :j
I cant imagine eating any other way now, however I am new to it and need lots of meal ideas
I think I shall do as you did with the coconut oil and just get some :D

    Hi fruity

Coconut oil on hair is best given at least 1/2 hour. It washes out well as long as you don't put loads on your scalp. :D That can make you keep washing it til there's no good been done at all - trust me :rotfl:

Hope you like it, don't forget to have some warming for when you emerge from the shower / bath as then you can slather yourself in it and truly feel blessed :)

    Big love
