Out of curiosity (and nosiness
), how much (if any) weight are you all losing on your low carb diets? do you feel healthier? (a girl I work with said she did the atkins a couple of years ago and was exhausted). I feel absolutely fine up to now (I know, only my third day) except my crazy rumbling tum (god, it's horrendous... those sweets just weren't worth it!). Do you all excercise regularly? (I don't). ta xx

Ahem.. i cant get my act togeter atm, but when i was good i lost a stone in 14 weeks, it only equates to 1lb a week i know but i had lost 9lb in a few weeks, i kept losing actual inches not lbs and dropped two dress sizes in all.
I did no exercise at all.
It did make me a bit tired though i must admit, but so do excess carbs.
My stomach went from bloated to very un-bloatedand i had loads of compliments.

Hi everyone, great thread !
I haven't eaten any carbs since Monday as I have just been diagnosed with diabetes a week ago and already I have got my blood sugar levels down to a normal level with the help of diet and medication. So far no nasty side effects, I certainly don't feel tired or hungry. Obviously I am very motivated health wise as opposed to just simple weight loss, but I shall enjoy keeping tabs on this thread to see how people are getting on and the little tricks that they are using to get through the day.0 -

Hey hey hey..
My son singing with his band, have a listen.
Wow. Brilliant, I really liked it, you have a very talented Son :T Was it middle or youngest?? Dude in the tux photo you posted a while back??
I imagine Mercy would like that kind of music.0 -
worried jim, I recognise your name, have you posted on here before??
Sorry to hear about the diabetes diagnosis, that's something in the back of my mind & one reason I'm doing low-carb, I don't want to end up on medication if I can help it.0 -
Diamonds, i've got a link to a great recipe for lc bread but the sit is down for maintenance, remind me and i'll post it when its back up.
Here is a pic of the bread i made from the recipe, its very much like wholemeal, freezes well, but doesn't toast too well.
and a pizza i made with the dough as a base
That looks soooo good. I've made low carb bread in the past from the Atkins recipe, using soya flour, but its a bit caky, that looks like real bread. What does it taste like?0 -
p.s. where do you all buy your coconut oil from?0

Diamonds, I definitely feel better when I'm lcing, just lighter & less bloated.
I used to walk nearly every day (just 30-40 minutes) but haven't managed to do that for a while (because of the snow!!) but am still managing to lose weight. Will hopefully start walking again when the weather brightens up, more for toning up than losing weight.
My weight loss has been up & down because I've had many, many blips over the last year. Not a very healthy thing to do, I know. But I feel like I've finally got my head in the right place now (famous last words??) & even if I do have a blip (more than likely to be school hols), I'm straight back onto lcing, I could never do that before. Think I've lost 1 stone & 12lbs in total.

Agree with all the comments made about sugar. Best to cut it out totally. Even a little taste of something sweet can put you off track for a couple of days. I went to my local library and borrowed every book on low carb to look for meal ideas (not all at once) and got loads of ideas from this thread. Just get into a routine and you'll be fine. I lost 2 stone before Christmas but have only lost a couple of pounds since but think I am overdoing it on the salted peanuts which can be as bad as sugar. Going to try and cut them down. Had a really bad week at work and normally would have been binging all week on anything in the house but haven't done that. As long as I don't put on any weight will keep going as long as I can. Absolute must is my cauliflower cheese with my dinner and I'm happy.0
