HanSpan, that was a good post about the benefits of low-carb - very well put. Think we could all do with that pamphlet!!

As for lowering the tone, ah yes, tis good to have a giggle!! :rotfl:
Thanks. Like I said I try not to go all evangelical on people but I can't help telling them that potatoes make me go dippy and can't be good for anyone (faster sugar spike than table sugar I believe) and that people were taller and had better teeth before the Egyptians introduced grain. But what on earth do you say to someone when they say you need bread etc for carbs for glucose for energy.

I actually think one of the reasons I find it easier to stick to low carb (although not as low as many others on here) is that I do it for reasons other than weight. I've always found dieting to lose weight pretty much impossible, I think the delayed cause and effect always made it really hard to persuade myself not to eat that bun - its not like my hips will instantaneously expand. However with the medical/health issues it is almost instantaneous. If I eat potatoes I go loopy then crash, and if I eat even a moderate amount of sugar/bread/pasta I will have thrush the next day.
Sorry I realise I do seem a bit obsessed by the thrush thing - probably because I am!
And what was that about pastry being like shoe insoles?! Suppose that's justice for me calling pork scratchings gnarled toenails!! Won't put me off the steak pie though!! :rotfl:

Can't say I'm a fan of pork scratchings either. I did buy some from lowcarbmegastore that were sort of puffy and I thought better than the bullet like offerings from the shops - OH disagrees, he thinks they really are actual polystyrene!

Hmmmm, so now I can complain to hubby about PMT, TOTM & MOTM!! :rotfl: That works out at about one week a month where I'm feeling ok!! Would be funny if it wasn't true. :o

That fits for me too. :o The older I get, the worse I get. You'd think everything would be getting milder ready to tail off...but no.

I've got an owl thingy btw. Very addictive....best not look when the kettle goes on though. :D

sue......I'm an all or nothing type person too, that's why I have so much trouble with the Atkins bars. I cant eat just one...I have to eat the box. Only way to avoid this is to not buy things. I dont know if I'll ever be able to change that or not tbh.

Got the trampoline tent up, it looks well cool. Bit gutted that I didn't have one of these as a kid. :o Trying to persuade OH we could have a sleepover in it one night but so far all I'm getting is raised eyebrows and a wry look. Boring git! :D

Have a great weekend sweet. I might end up heading off myself tomorrow as OH wants to go see his sis. Depends what time he finishes work though.

    See you all later.

Sweet, tis middle of the month, mentioned it last month as is rather troublsome, get a 'stitch' like pain, low down on abdomen on alternating sides and get really snappy and bloated so assuming weight gain is hormone related (be worse now tho after my rebellion) :o

    :D

Or otherwise known as Ovulation......Never heard of anyone else getting that feeling.Never met anyone who believed me that I (we!) planned 2 children on the strength of that little nagging pain. :D
Still here intermittently, enjoying the catch up, and Ted`s Links.

My weight loss seems to have plateau-ed (?) the same pound keeps coming and going. So, maybe more fish...

    Love,
    Nerdy

Before anyone makes the obvious comment about lifespan being shorter we first have to recognize that infant mortality would have been a serious factor in past times and that would have dropped average lifespan significantly.

This can be seen quite clearly from the median lifespan given for the 19th century - 40 for men and 38.4 for women. Anyone who has followed their family tree back will have found higher childhood deaths than now while other relatives lived well into their 70s and 80s.

Hi, sorry, its gonna be another biggie:o

I have a confession and its not about food:p
I now have to read the posts and make little notes along the way of who and what i want to talk to/about, or i am lost. It's my age y'know:o

Ames well done, going below another stone is so rewarding.

Nerdy, my 'pain' can be quite sharp especially with a full bladder and hurts if its pressed but if you watch a video of the egg being released ( What!! so i'm a nerd) it is quite a violent little explosion.

Hanspan, i used to have almost constant thrush too but not since my partner and i seperated, seems he was the one with the problem and kept passing it to me... thanks mate
Am gonna get an owl just to see whats what, but reviews warned that you can become obsessed.

Teds last link was interesting as it described my old symptoms to a tee.
The translation was also funny. Like me, people described suffering heartburn, terrible wind, and dry flaky skin, all of which cleared up.
I had forgotten about my dry flaky forehead and scalp, which has now gone.
One person complained of embarrasing, loud wind since schooldays which was now gone but if it occasionally happened now the noise scared him as it was so unusual :rotfl:

Ok, I've decided I'm going to be a coconut oil convert (despite the fact I really dont think I'll like it, but I'm gonna try) ....but I cant remember which one was recommended or where to get it? Anyone know offhand to save me a lengthy search? :)

Btw mazzers, I'm exactly the same. If I haven't mentioned something or acknowledged someone...it's always simply because I forgot who wrote what, by the time I write my own post. I sympathise, lol.

As for the TOTM thing, I also get a sore left knee at TOTM and MOTH. I went to the Docs many years ago but he was at a loss to explain why so I've just put up with it. It's like having a period cramping pain in your knee and is annoying and uncomfortable. I've got it now so I'm thinking my extra pounds on could be linked.

Well just had a tuna salad for tea. Cant say it was overly enjoyable but it was healthy and low carb so I'm happy. I need to up my water intake, I know I'm not drinking nearly enough but I find it really dificult tbh. My OH can happily swig down gallons of the stuff.

I use coconoil It's cold pressed virgin organic and tastes nice and if you buy the bulk container £75 it works out at £3.75 for 500g.

If you are short of anti inflammatory resources (vit d, omega 3, magnesium) then when you are under stress the weakest link shows symptoms. Do you take 5000iu/d/D3? 1.5g/d omega 3 500mg/d magnesium? What are your other sources of anti inflammatory agents? ie green tea? carnitine, glucosamine etc

Thanks Ted. I do take D3 5000iu as well as 1 x 100mg 5-HTP cap and a multi vitamin tablet. And that's it....although I'm about to restart high strength cod liver oil as my skin is getting a bit dry and I'm getting a bit stiffer in my old age. :)
