Maybe I should prepare a very short plain English pamphlet to give out so I can stop feeling like a broken record!
Thanks for posting your story. I think that when enough people spread the word, eventually health professionals will be forced to change their tune.

Today in Sweden they've launched a new blog for individuals to report their experiences while eating a low carbohydrate higher saturated fat diet.

They are hoping that the sheer volume of anecdotal evidence of honest every day people explaining how reducing carbohydrate consumption and replacing that energy with the NATURAL fats our DNA evolved to cope with, will persuade the authorities that they cannot forever appear in the Emperor's New Clothes without appearing ridiculous.

Sorry its me again.. all or nothing.
I think a 'conspiracy theory' programme should be made (everyone loves a conspiracy theory) telling people that its a government conspiracy that fat is bad just so we'll fill up on cheap staples.
I mean, the farmers wont be out of pocket by not selling grain cos we'll be eating more meat and eggs, so let the animals have the grain and we'll have the meat.. innit!!!

Hanspan, wher'd you get the leccy monitor and was it expensive, might do to show the boys how much they are costing me on their games :D dont expect they'll care much tho

Got it from Amazon - its an eco-eye - cost £42.95. Quite a lot but as I've worked out we spend about £1k a year on the electric I reckon we can save that back well within the year. This sort clips round the in cable at the meter and does the whole electricity supply so you can turn lights on and off and see what happens. Had it sitting next to me last night and it made me realise we'd left the bathroom light on unnecessarily - we really are hopeless. I'm also tempted to get another type that fits between a socket and plug so you can more easily monitor single appliances - these are about £10-£15 but you can't do lights or the cooker for instance.

    Good, innit?

I intend to use it - problem is security at the moment, as you can imagine it's more than a bit attractive to scuzzers and I don't live in a nice little crime-free City filled with cyclepaths any more :(

At the moment, I have to loosen the handlebars, turn them round to one side, then lift the bike into the house and down a full set of stairs to the basement. Then the same in reverse to get it back out again. Part of its beauty is that it's a heavy beast, too!

And once it's out, I would have to be on it at all times, so no good riding down to the shops for example. And I'm a fair way from any nice riding areas - I live on a steep hill in a rough neighbourhood close to the City centre

I had a far less appealing bike but had the same problems - very heavy and had to get it from the shed through our terraced house to the street then back (tracking mud both ways - joy) so I bought a folding cycle.

Its a mezzo http://www.mezzobikes.com/ and cost me a fortune but its much easier to ride and more comfortable than most folding cycles and, once collapsed, it will fit in a big Tesco shopping trolley.

So I can put the bike in the big section, about the amount of shopping I can carry home in the little front bit and also cause plenty of amusement whilst at it. Unfortunately I'm a lazy, unfit c*w so it doesn't actually get used that often ;) but it is lovely

  • Tis me again :D

mazzers, middle of the month, of course, doh!! Now I'm thinking this is ovulation?? So things are happening which must affect hormones?? I definitely start feeling angry & short-tempered about 2 weeks after the start of TOTM (have never worked it out but must be near) so I think that ties in with MOTM/ovulation?? Hmmmm, so now I can complain to hubby about PMT, TOTM & MOTM!! :rotfl: That works out at about one week a month where I'm feeling ok!! Would be funny if it wasn't true. :o

HanSpan, that was a good post about the benefits of low-carb - very well put. Think we could all do with that pamphlet!!
As for lowering the tone, ah yes, tis good to have a giggle!! :rotfl:
And what was that about pastry being like shoe insoles?! Suppose that's justice for me calling pork scratchings gnarled toenails!! Won't put me off the steak pie though!! :rotfl:
    Weird looking bike btw!!

sue, get thee into the naughty corner & don't sneak any of those chocolate hob nobs in with you!! :naughty:

Well that is definitely my last post for today, have got things to do!! My excuse for logging in this time was that I was waiting for the washing machine to finish spinning but think that finished about 10 minutes ago!!
So will see you all on Monday, if not before!!

Warning! If you are a bit sad (like me) make sure you have plenty of time with nothing much to do, preferrably with no-one else in the house. Last night poor Malcolm (OH) got yelled at on and off all evening for switching things on and off that I didn't know about, and the argument about who left the light on - and whether its reasonable to pee in the dark - could run and run ;)

(edit) poor thing is also dissapointed to hear he won't be getting another of my very infrequent cookery offerings - lasagne - as I refuse to cook it until I have enough cheese to fill the oven with lasagne and mexican fudge. Did I say I'm also a bit obsessive? I'm sure it will wear off soon.

Now MUST go and do something useful. Broad bean seedlings to plant.
