Badger - Love the bike! Like the idea of skulls too! Do you use it still? Or exhibit it :)

I've just stuck padded skull stickers on my suitcase :o Just can't help myself

HanSpan, was your head the only thing that nearly blew off?! :rotfl:
I know what you mean about electricity useage - 40/45 mins for the fudge is quite a lot so cooking double is a good idea. Very MSE. :D

Yes just my head, it doesn't seem to have that 'regularising' ;) effect on me, but maybe that's because we eat a lot of chilli in this house anyway - I don't have a problem in that department very often. Actually I think I've got a pretty wierd constitution - even the sugarless sweets don't do that - they just make me VERY windy!

The leccy monitor is really scary. I've worked out that leaving the PC on all the time as we do is costing about £275 a year - yikes!

    Morning all. :)

Well no more weight on today thank goodness....but none off either which I'm a bit surprised about tbh. Usually once it goes on, one day of being careful is enough to take a pound off again, but not this time. I'm still bloated so I think maybe my body has it's own new agenda at the moment. Haven't a clue what it is, or why, though.

jpretty...that loss is fantastic, well done! :T

mazzers....I couldn't lift my leg that high even when I was a skinny carb free 18 year old. :rotfl:

Badger...sorry, dont agree with the others...that bike is one scary looking contraption to me. :D

How's your bum today sweet? :D Seriously saddle sore yet? :rotfl:

I promised youngest I'd put up the tent we got for her trampoline today so no doubt that'll burn off a few calories wrestling with poles and stuff. Can't say I'm looking forward to it.

Going to try to stick to strictly basic Atkins Induction type stuff for the next wee while to try to start losing again. Got plenty of fish in the freezer so might live off that mostly. :D

    Have a good day!

    Good, innit?

I intend to use it - problem is security at the moment, as you can imagine it's more than a bit attractive to scuzzers and I don't live in a nice little crime-free City filled with cyclepaths any more :(

At the moment, I have to loosen the handlebars, turn them round to one side, then lift the bike into the house and down a full set of stairs to the basement. Then the same in reverse to get it back out again. Part of its beauty is that it's a heavy beast, too!

And once it's out, I would have to be on it at all times, so no good riding down to the shops for example. And I'm a fair way from any nice riding areas - I live on a steep hill in a rough neighbourhood close to the City centre

That's a very good excuse :) Shame you can't use it but thoroughly understand why you won't risk it's safety. Bet just hauling it in and out is a work out in itself!

  • Good morning all :hello:

mazzers, what's MOTM?? Been trying to work it out??

jpretty - well done on that 8lbs loss!! Fantastic!! :T

Mercy, enjoy your hols & good luck with the travelling - as alias said before, just keep flapping those arms & you'll get there!! :D Skull stickers on your suitcase?! That'll put the wind up security!! :rotfl:

HanSpan - tmi for this time of the morning!! :rotfl:

alias, my bum is actually not too bad today, seems to be when I get back on the bike that's when I feel it but I won't be going on it for a few days so should recover a bit!!
Good luck with the trampoline tent thingy, these things are usually like The Krypton Factor but with pieces missing!! Are you going to be using the trampoline then?? Supposed to be really good exercise :D

Well, I'm away for the weekend so will miss the closing of the forums anyway!! Phew!! Good timing or what!! Going up to Scotland to see new niece for the first time. :D Travelling after school tonight so it's going to be really tiring, it's a 3 + half to 4 hour drive so not looking forward to it. Staying with family so will be eating what they are eating, bad or not. I already know we are having steak pie on Saturday night but I'm not going to make a fuss, will just force myself to eat it.

Won't do my menu today as don't know what I'll be having tonight, apart from lots of red wine of course!!

Finally, thinking of making a version of Mercy's fudge today if I get chance - have bits & pieces in the fridge to use up. So, what I'm thinking is ......... cheesy leeks & ham?! I think it has the potential to be really nice or really horrible!! :rotfl:

Have a good weekend everyone, might not have time to post again today so happy days everyone!! :j

Morning everyone, had lie in as theres no school:T
No-ones mentioned the weather, its horrible here, like 1880s London, all misty, foggy and eerie, am half expecting to hear murderous screams

jpretty, well done, amazing loss , am sooo envious. ;)

Mercy, enjoy the hol, we'll be thinking of you. I filled in teds petiton, was 50/50 yesterday.
Hanspan, wher'd you get the leccy monitor and was it expensive, might do to show the boys how much they are costing me on their games :D dont expect they'll care much tho

Sweet, tis middle of the month, mentioned it last month as is rather troublsome, get a 'stitch' like pain, low down on abdomen on alternating sides and get really snappy and bloated so assuming weight gain is hormone related (be worse now tho after my rebellion) :o

Badger, not into bikes as i feel nervous in traffic, would like to ride in a quiet, scenic area regularly tho.

Daisy, think my breasticles :rotfl: make for a bigger top too.

Hmm, was hoping to dry some washing, it'll hang like a limp lettuce in this fog tho so wont bother.

Am gonna try and eat lots from now on as i'm sure that is the secret.

Dont know what i'm gonna do without mse this weekend  :D

Healthy Maganzineare currently running an article on Saturated fats.

If not perhaps you would enjoy watching this.
    BIG FAT LIES

There is a lot more about Fats on Stephan's Whole Health Source Blog

I would be pleased if those who understand the benefits of using the natural saturated fats our body's evolved to cope best with will add your vote to the first option to redress the current balance.
Scroll down the page and you will find the poll on the bottom left hand corner.

Thanks so much Ted - as always fascinating and informative. I've been and voted and I’ve and watched the clip and saved the link to send to anyone giving me the low fat is good mantra.

A few days ago I had someone at work trying to persuade me to eat biscuits, and when I refused offering me bananas. I have no problem refusing as I just tell them it will give me thrush. However it often leads to a 'well what do you eat then' discussion. I told them - basically meat and veg - in fact pretty much what you eat but without the pointless filler and with lots of lovely things like double cream and butter and full fat cheese. I told them not only do I not get thrush but I've lost about 1.5 stone without dieting and feel better. Also that I've realised through doing this that carbs at lunchtime made me sleepy in the afternoon and generally crabby. As usual they wanted to know why, so I told them I think I have poor blood sugar control and that carbs (in particular potatoes) make anyone's blood sugar soar, then insulin floods in to counteract it - in my case too much (I actually think everyone's but people seem to find it easier to take when I just talk about me) and makes my blood sugar plummet which make me hungry and tired. I was with a group of four people and two of them said 'oh I wonder if that's my problem too' although they baulked at the idea of giving up rice and things.
Then one of them said - but you need carbohydrate, I said for what, she said you need glucose. When I asked what for she said 'energy'. By this point I could feel my eyes glazing over and decided my time would be better spent actually doing some work!

I try very hard not to sound evangelical – I fear I could be as annoying as an ex smoker, but its strange how obvious it all seems to me now. I often have people say ‘but fat makes you fat’ and I ask if they really think you drink fat and it just pours directly through your stomach into your blood stream and settles on your hips. I think language has a large part to play in all this – eat fat, get fat sounds instinctively right until you question what your body actually does.

I’ve had several gatherings in the past 6 months with people I’ve not seen for years and they comment how I’ve lost weight and look healthier. I feel like a walking public service announcement for my plump relatives ;) Maybe I should prepare a very short plain English pamphlet to give out so I can stop feeling like a broken record!

    Good morning all :hello:

HanSpan - tmi for this time of the morning!! :rotfl:

Well although I don't post often I do read and personally love a good laugh when the tone is thoroughly lowered ;)

I'm sorry I don't do a very good job of keeping up to date - I do read all the posts but ususally in huge chunks every few days and I completely lose track of who has posted what. I think I'll respond to something but leave it till I get to the end in case I'm repeating then never get to the end or can't find what I planned to respond to. Just so you know though I think you are all fab and this is by far my favourite forum.

Hope you have a lovely weekend - yuk to pie though - I really can't stomach pastry these days - feels like shoe insoles in my mouth - sorry if that puts you off your dinner ;)

I dont get a problem with friends and family (its colleagues with me) my friends actually believe me as i have gone on about bread affecting me for years, but they all say 'how can you possibly give up bread' even those that dont eat great quantities.
When working on checkouts i was amazed at the amount bought by joe public, sooo much bread is in the trolleys of most people, not the odd loaf per family but lots of loaves. It has to be Britains main staple along with spuds, which in my opinion takes a second best.

We all know what the first thing brits do when snow is forecast, dash out for bread as they think they cant live without it.

Snow (the s word) is a dirty word for shop assistants as the crowds are horrendous.
One old guy bought seven loaves last time we had it, and thats just what i saw.

Mind you, the amount of sugar, cakes and sweeties going through with old folk is unbelievable, prob because it was rationed during the war and they are now obsessed with the stuff.
There are going to be so so many diabetics in the future and is already so many.
    Something must be done.
