Hi everyone. I've been searching for information about a low G.I diet but can't find much. Is a low carb diet a lot different to a low G.I diet?
I have been told i have PCOS & need to go on a low G.I diet but i don't quite understand it or how i work out the G.I value of the foods i eat. I'm a veggie & eats mainly quorn based meals. I have major cravings for sugar stuff and for carbs..... i love Mr Warburton for baking such wonderful bread :o :rotfl:
I have to lose weight.... about 3 stone or more & i know eating the amount of carbs i eat isn't good.
    I need some help.
    Thanks

I don't like Mr Warburton much :) his bread makes me swell up like a tightly inflated balloon :rotfl: Shame really as his factory is just down the road.

Ever wondered why it takes warbies bread SOOO long to go off?

Must be a reason and I'm not eating that :rotfl:

I vaguely remember it making very good toast tho :D

You don't have any control over what life throws at you.
You DO have control over how you react :)
  • You know what i've never thought about his bread like that, it does last longer than other breads i've tried. I really shouldn't eat things like bread as it makes my stomach all bloated but bread is lovely.

Thanks for those links, i will have a good read of them.

When I first thought about low carb I didn't think I could ever give up bread. I've probably only eaten bread 8 times in the last 14 months. Those occasions were on hols staying with friends - can't be a difficult guest if you want inviting back :rotfl:

Can't now say I miss it at all. :j

Funny how your tastes change when you start something like this. Don't like sweets or sugary things much anymore either :rotfl:

  • Good morning peeps :hello:

    Just a quickie menu today:
    B - 2 egg mushroom & cheese omelette
    L - 2 low-carb crispbreads with butter & cheese, garlic sausage
D - chicken breast with pesto & maybe grated cheese?? Buttery cabbage, cauli mash

Going to have to defrost the fridge-freezer today as the door wouldn't shut properly last night & things in the top drawer had started defrosting :( Think my HM curries & chillis are gonna get wasted, along with a few more things :(

Anyway, have a good day everyone, think I'm gonna have a busy one :wave:

Stuff still frozen might be OK if you're quick - take it all out, put in box surrounded with blankets and put in shed or outside (somewhere not centrally heated if you ahve your heating on and out of the sun!) Defrost then put on quick freeze if you have it and put everything back in.

Or I reckon the cooked mushed up things (curry & chili) would be OK if you cook them again THOROUGHLY - I seem to remember you have to heat to over 70 but can't remember for how long. It should then be fine to cool and re-freeze.

This is what I'd do but if you're worried better to ditch it - I don't want to be blamed for you having gyppy tummy!

Bread has always been my carb of choice too. I have no problem giving up rice, pasta & potatoes but bread. YUM! Hopefully I'll get to the stage where I won't miss it too much as well.

    Today's food looks like this;

B Mushroom, spinach & cheese omelette
    L Tuna mayo salad
D Roast lamb with cabbage & cauli.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

    Morning!

Had my breakfast and been abluted so now heading off to the farm shop for some wonderful bacon, best I've found and well worth the trip halfway to Hexham.

Got chicken for lunch and probably for evening meal too as I have to use up some food in the freezer. Need to get some Lidl yoghurt too, can't say I'm too keen on yoghurt but use it to take the linseed oil as it helps metabolise the linseeds.

Think a walk is in order too, need to get the old muscles working as I sat around all day yesterday and did marking, very boring and very static.

    Happy LC day folks.

Me too Dobie, could easily go without the others.. got on well without it when i first started but always have nice bread in the house for the boys so find that a bit difficult especially at toast time :D
I'm ok as long as i dont get too hungry, if i do, its the frist thing i want.
