sorry yes i should have made myself clearer - sweet i know your crackers/crispbreads are fine cos i know what they are but not all are the same value :)

linni - i didnt want to say it before but i really think you need to go and do some research on lc plans and diets - see what takes your fancy then read read read and see what you can and cant do

there are 3 most ppl on here are doing - atkins idiot proof diet and dr dalhquiest (sp) but there is also the zone and protein power too

unfortunately its not quite as simple as cutting out bread and potatoes if you want real results

oh and re.the greek yoghurt - yes fine in small doses i agree but if someone wanted to re start a stall i wouldnt recommend it

hope that clarifys the points i made :D

I still have a lot of learning to do with what i can and can not eat, i thought carrots had to be OK, but i guess i am doing my own version of LCing, i used to live on rice, tatties, pasta, beans and bread, so i have cut these out completly and it seems to be going OK so i think i will just continue the way i am.

Me too - I love pasta and bread. It is quite complicated because different books say different things. Can anyone give me an idea of some lowcarb veg to get me started, until I can read through this thread properly?

    Hi guys!

Try reading the Dr Dahlqvist link on page one. It deals with the basics and is a good intro to lcing. I've not tried Atkins or Idiot proof diets but there are links to information on both these, also on page 1.

I started on Dr D's as it seems a good introduction to LC and is quite a short, basic guide.

I totally rebel against being told what to do. :o The thought of following a specific diet put my hackles up before I even read anything :rotfl: But I did want to cut my refined sugar and wheat so when I read DrD I was pleasantly surprised to have a no nonsense guide to start me off.

    Smee again!

    Today's food
    Coconut oil n supplements
B - Red Leicester and frankfurters
L - HM Ox heart casserole (incl leeks, mushies, some carrot) on top of squashed cauli
D - Drumsticks with garlic mushrooms, a few cherry toms, mayo and salad

Apparently Lidl have relatively cheap cauli n broccoli this week, will pop in tomorrow. It's been a while since cauli n broccoli in cheese passed my lips so may well have that with the remains of the drummers for eve meal tomorrow :) And I do still have some blue cheese lurking...Mmm can't wait now :rotfl:

I felt quite peckish late last eve, not really like me :) so I tried a lemon omlette.

This has been adapted fom the lemon souffle omlette, can't remember if it's on the list but it is basically the same except in the souffle the eggs are separated and whites whisked, folded into rest then cooked.

    2 eggs
Lemon juice, don't be shy here, I gave the jiff a few good shakes - 2-3 teaspoonsful would use quite a bit more next time.
    1 teaspoon splenda

Whisked it all up then cooked in foaming hot butter.

Hit the spot wonderfully and stopped me eating anymore dark choc. I'd had a bit but it wasn't doing it for me :)

Will keep in mind for other times.

Thanks for pointing out the first page, i was not gong to go through 273 pages to find the info.

After reading Dr Ds plan i can say that i am following that pretty closely, the only things i think i now need to read up on is which vegetables are higher carb than others as the article only says you can eat veg.

    good night all

Sorry, wasn't 'dissing' your crispbreads LOL!

Lol, hope I didn't appear too defensive of them!! :o I do love them dearly!! :rotfl:

I work full time so I only get to shop inthe big supermarkets in the evening, they have a vast array of 'healthy' crispbreads that are def not LC!

You two have got me worried now!! Maybe I should do a link for the crispbreads every time I post my daily menu as I don't want newbies or lurkers on the thread to think all crispbreads are ok on low-carb!!

I have to say though, the H&B bran crispbreads have been a god-send to me this time. I hunted high & low in all the big supermarkets for low carb crackers/crispbreads as I needed something like that to munch on, I couldn't stomach any more salads etc on a lunchtime, & it was only reading through old posts on this thread that reminded me about these, just wish I'd taken more notice months ago, I'd be skinny by now!!

Anyway, they work for me & eating them has made sticking to lcing easier for me, but obviously not everyone will feel the same way about them!! :o I think peeps have got to try different things & see what works for them.

Hope this post makes sense, have had DD1 twittering on to me about her hair & it's taken me about 40 minutes to type it out!! :o I can't multi-task when I have pmt!! :(

    Morning all

I'm going to start posting my meal plans & see if that helps me to avoid temptation. At work we have a bake sale for Children in Need next Wednesday & I'm making cookies so that'll be a challenge! I'll also make some of Mercy's chocolate buns so I'll have something yummy to eat. Thanks Mercy. :T

    B 2 egg cheese & spinach omelette
L Smoked mackerel salad with full fat mayo
B Baked fresh tuna with pesto, cauli & green beans.

I've packed some cheese cubes & olives in case I get peckish this afternoon.

I'm going to Argos tomorrow to buy a Wii fit & intend to do at least 1/2 an hour at least 5 days a week.

I want to lose a stone & at least a couple of inches off my waist but am happy to commit myself to do it slowly.

Hope everyone has a good day.
