you need to be eating your fats when you are low carbing
your right salad leaves alone wont fill you up but with a heathly portion of protien and a dollop of fat - full fat mayo or good oil dressing - then it will be satisfying and fill you

i also dont think your eating enough and maybe you should look at the basic guidelines of the plan your following again just to be sure ? also low carb veg and salad and more fats
its all about the fat !! lol

  • linni, agree with everyone else, you don't seem to be eating enough & the foods g&b highlighted are high in carbs.
I think I eat quite a lot, I occasionally get the munchies but my daily menus are pretty much what I eat.
The only exercise I do is daily walking, sometimes once a day but I try to go twice if possible. I do about 35 minutes each time. I agree with Boozer that the weight loss is probably a combination of low-carbing & exercise.
Low-carb veggies I use all the time are cauli (mashed with butter for cauli mash), leeks (fried in butter & you can add double cream or full fat creme fraiche & grated cheese for cheesy leeks), mushrooms (fried in olive oil or butter with garlic & I sometimes mix them in with the cheesy leeks), cabbage (add butter & black pepper when cooked & you can also add it to cauli mash & fry it for bubble & squeak).
I must admit I struggle with eating salad, especially at this time of year, but you can get mixed leaves & smother them with a dressing as daisy suggested. I've been eating mine with hot food, just to hide the taste a bit!! :o
Anyway, don't get too hung up on trying to lose/maintain weight, there's more to life!! Keep coming back, ask questions if you need to & maybe start posting your daily menu so we can keep an eye on you!! :rotfl:
  • Forgot to say, for sweet cravings you could have sugar-free jelly with double cream.
Berries are the best fruit to have when lcing so something like a handful of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries etc with double cream.
Mercy has some lovely 'sweet' recipes on page 1 of this thread.
I have hot chocolate (with extra double cream :o) if I'm craving something sweet, if you go for the 'light' version it's usually less than 5g carbs per mugfull.

    Hi all!

Just didn't get time to post yesterday.

I'm lucky when it comes to a hot meal midday as I can use a microwave (at work - I'm not just showing off :)). If I couldn't I would use HM soup and supplement with sausages, cheese, mexican fudge, cold omlette, breakfast muffins, boiled eggs, and cake :T Though unlikely all at the same time :rotfl:

There are lots of good recipes on the 1st page and I look through it when lost for inpiration.

I have to echo, fat is very important on a low cal WOE. You need to get energy from somewhere.

Nice to see we have many more people than I thought :D
    Big love to all!

Morning all - I will post what I had yesterday for advice on what I shouldn't have ate! Yoghurt, cheese/pea omelette, spaghetti carbonnara (small portion with only a tiny bit of spaghetti as first time hubby made it and I wanted to try it), 2 crispbreads. I will cut out the crispbreads today and I will go through this thread again from the very beginning and make notes. I am struggling with the 'fats' because I bought the KTN coconut oil which wasn't unrefined as I thought and haven't managed to find anything else yet. The jelly & cream sounds good and I love hot chocolate but didn't realise I could have it. I don't like the 'light' versions of anything because I can't stand the saccharine type stuff. I am gonna get some cauliflower/leeks etc today. :)

yoghurt peas spaghetti and crispbreads are all no no's on lc

fats come in lots of guises - olives avocados nuts in a small amount mayo butter olive oil

i wouldnt have hot choc at the mo if your trying to re start your weight loss personally and the jelly as a treat not everyday

just try and eat clean - healthy proteins good fats minimal carbs lots of water :)

bacon and egg - hm soup - salads and proteins - meat and veg thats the mainstay of what i eat

Ok - I thought the Lidl Greek Yoghuts were good because they have 10% fat. I am going to have to find something to replece them.
  • Will disagree a little with daisy

Lidl Greek-style yoghurt is fairly low-carb so ok in small amounts & nice with berries & some seeds sprinkled over the top.

Crispbreads - http://www.ggbrancrispbread.com/ these are low-carb & I live on them, can't recommend them enough!! Have 2, sometimes 4 a day (lunch & supper) with butter & cheese (I usually put them down as crackers on my menu plan but will put crispbreads from now on to avoid confusion). They are very high fibre so help with any congestion issues as well!! I get them from Holland & Barrett (currently buy one get one half price but I think that deal ends today).

Apart from that I agree completely with daisy!! :D

I don't eat this because I don't have a Lidl near me but as far as I know this is definitely lower-carb than other yoghurts & ok in small quantities.
It's the 'bucket' size tub with a handle.
  • Morning all :hello:

    My menu for today:
    B - 1 egg cheese & mushroom omelette
L - 2 crispbreads with butter & cheese, garlic sausage
D - Mercy's beef mince curry with cauli mash

Have to same my cheese & mushroom omelette was gorgeous, will definitely make that again!! Would have used 2 eggs but the last but one egg was cracked!!

Was feeling peckish last night so had 2 more crispbreads with butter & cheese for supper, also a small handful of salt & vinegar peanuts.

linni, not sure if 'full fat' hot chocolate is as low in carbs as the 'light' stuff so check the jar. Also, don't have it every day if you intend being strict with carb intake.
I don't know what your health issues are (you said you are on medication) but be careful & if in doubt about low-carb WOE, check with your Dr to be safe.

Have a good day everyone, see you later
