I have just looked at the carbs on my crispbreads and they are 6.7g per slice! It just shows how careful you need to be with reading the labels. I just saw the 'Sunflower, Seeds & Oats' and '100% Wholegrain Rye'. I will nip to H&B and see if they have any of the high fibre ones as they look fab. I must admit I love them for when I am eating just for the sake of it.0

I'm back from hols and work away. Charged up the M1 at 5.00a.m and now had breakfast and begun to do some work. I've certainly put on weight whilst on my travels/jollies
but hey, ho! Got a glass of water in front of me and will make sure I drink one of these every hour.
Had my coconut oil and flaxseed oil (yeurgh) and ready to face the LC world again. Have to say that I don't feel comfortable when eating carbs, or even afterwards so am about to put on my 'no, not at all thanks' face when confronted with friends, hotel meal etc. :j
I'm not away for any more significant days until Christmas (a couple of nights here and there for work only) so can concentrate fully.
Had bacon and eggs for breakfast, got chicken and salad for lunch and then defrosting pea and mint soup for evening meal (or may reverse the last 2 if the whimsy takes me).
Good to read back the postings - some people up and some people down and some others doing a pole dance!!

Linni, heres my two penneth... rice cakes and carrots are also not lc, they may be good when doing WW but not lcing.
Dont eat the crispbreads if you are eating just for the sake of it, have a tin of tuna or fried chicken or something carb free and save the higher carb foods as an occasional treat.
I think you are a bit confused as to what is allowed and whats not, get yourself a decent book or look on the net to familiarise yourself with allowable foods
Lcarb is really about omitting sugars, thats why most fruits and some veg are not allowed, peas are sweet and quite high in sugar, and milk has sugars in it but cream has little so is allowed.
You may find that some things will be ok for you though, trial and error is the key, for example, when i was being strict, a small amount of milk was stalling me while others were ok with it, and once i omitted it i continued losing.
All i have to do now is practice what i preach0 -
Hi Mazzers - I have never, ever, had to worry about food before, and know nothing about dieting. I've always been able to eat anything, including fruit, veg, nuts and vast amounts of choccies, cakes and biscuits, which is why it seems so difficult. I lost the first few lbs by cutting them out and (trying) to do the LC and it has certainly stopped me feeling so bloated. I am going to make a really big effort, armed with everyone's help and advice and see what happens.0

Hi Everyone!
Linni, not sure if you're like me but I really had to 'study' the whole LC way of eating before I got into it, it totally went against everything I'd ever learnt about healthy eating and I struggled to get my head around it.
Once I'd read a lot more on how and why it works it was much easier to work out what to eat. Basically it works best for me when I eat old fashioned food LOL!
Salad, good veggies, butter, cream, cheese, meat, eggs (occasional peanuts as a treat). Think thats prob it. Anything processed & modern seems to stall me so I can't 'cheat' with sugar free jelly, wierd crispbreads, low fat hot chocolate. (great if you can!) I live by the advice if you great grandma couldn't buy it then don't eat it!0 -
Welcome back Gers!!
avstar, not sure what's weird about the crispbreads??
They are 85% bran
Ingredients: unprocessed wheat bran, rye flour, salt0 -

!
I still have a lot of learning to do with what i can and can not eat, i thought carrots had to be OK, but i guess i am doing my own version of LCing, i used to live on rice, tatties, pasta, beans and bread, so i have cut these out completly and it seems to be going OK so i think i will just continue the way i am.0 -
Me too - I love pasta and bread. It is quite complicated because different books say different things. Can anyone give me an idea of some lowcarb veg to get me started, until I can read through this thread properly?0
