Good morning, good morning, up since six, couldnt sleep, got a lot on my mind

I ended up having some chocolate last night as my son left my fave lying around, and the first day is always the hardest for me, and they'd both been ganging up on me, so i needed cheering up :o They cleared off to the cinema then so i had some peace

Have had a few nuts and having a coffee now so will be ok for a while.

Will be making butter chicken for later, gonna try the flax crackers today to go with my philly icon7.gif
Got pepperami for a snack and might make some lc bread as that kept me on the straight and narrow.
    See u later.

I had choc lasst night too, Lindt 70% so not a total disaster. My husband's fault though, he brought it out and put it on the table while he and his dad ate biscuits, saying 'didn't want you to feel left out'. ARGH! I know it's my choice whether to put it in my mouth or not but late at night I have the willpower of a gnat. Dammit. Rest of the day was good though. Had delicious roast chicken with butternut squash that was roasted with the chicken an was SO soft and sweet it was almost like pudding. Num. And broccoli.
  • Morning :hello:

Ok, I'll admit to eating chocolate too :o

We seem to be going through the ch alphabet - we've done chips, now chocolate, what next?! Hopefully it'll be chops!! :D

Welcome moneysaver, please ignore the chip & chocolate feasting peeps on this thread, ie. me :o Most of us, ok, them, are doing great on low-carb, just sometimes we/I have blips!! :o

Hints & tips for low-carb - you need to be organised for a start. Have things in the fridge that you can grab whenever you are feeling peckish - as Gaye (resident low-carb veggie although bobbing around on a boat atm) said, boiled eggs are great. Cheese cubes/babybels, prawns, nuts etc. are handy and cold meats for non-veggies.

I know it's weird when you are so used to doing low-fat (we have all been there, and failed) , but ditch the low-fat stuff & go for full-fat mayo, double cream, butter etc.

There are some yummy recipes on Page 1 of this thread (lovingly put together by Mercy) so would recommend you look at them, if you haven't already. Also, just adapt 'normal' recipes ie. don't add pasta, rice, potatoes, bread. Veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, leeks are good (cauli is gorgeous mashed with a little butter, black pepper & cream) and salad is great (although getting a bit chilly for that). You could make home-made soup using the lower-carb veg/chicken carcass/ham bones & top with a blob of full-fat creme fraiche (nomnomnom) :D

Ok, I'll stop there as I know I'm going on a bit :o but any questions, please ask & some lovely peep on this thread will give you advice/encouragement.

Wow, I'm going to read this post over & over until I finally realise that I should be doing this myself!! :o:rotfl:

Anyway, hope everyone has a good day today

Oops, nearly forgot the weather forecast ...

Tis grey, windy & not very nice :D
  • Oh, and focus, make sure you get your backside back on here on Monday!! Or else!! :naughty:

OOH! wonder what it is with chocolate - i was an absoulute piggy, the night before last i ate a full giant bar of bourneville old jamaica :o and yes i did feel sick afterwards but it still didn`t stop me knowing that i would. Last night was better and i ate 3 small squares of value dark choccie.

I think with me now that the weather has turned colder i want comfort food, it dosen`t help that i am cooking for a DH who has an enormous appetite and he is now eating all the wintery food like stew and toad in the hole.

Today i will mostly be eating sausage and scramblies for breakfast, lc mushroom soup for dinner and cod and buttered cabbage for tea. I also have a pepperami, some cheese and a piece of belly pork for snacks.

I was planning on making cottage pie with swede topping for tomorrow but the mince that i defrosted turned out to be stewing steak so its simmering away on the hob and has been turned into a lc curry.

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Hello All!
    :hello:Moneysaver -here's you own smiley.

OH brought 4 -yes four bars of dark choc back home for me yesterday! He was trying to be nurturing coz I was feeling a bit poorly after the Doc's, and he bought berries too. I've had to hide the chox in the top cupboard that I can't reach without a chair in the hope I will forget they are there. I can't do moderation, if I eat one chunk I become like cookie monster from Sesame street and scoff the lot. Mnomnomnomnom....:EasterBun

Tis windy here too Sweets -in more ways than one! Looks like rain too.

Got some nice apples from the garden (very MSE) so planning to make the nice Brekkie granola do-dah than someone posted (apologies to you). Planning to get the bucket o' yoghurt too. Should keep me on the straight and narrow.....hopefully.

  • Wow, thanks for the great welcome Sweets and Marrowgirl, thanks for my smiley *waves back*. I confess I'm really enjoying eating this way and once I get my head around the idea of eating cream etc I know I'm going to love it even more. I'm beginning to read the labels on food a bit more too now for the carb rather than the fat contents. I've had rather a nice lunch of sardines in tom sauce on chicory leaves with home grown toms and an avocado. There's still half the avo on my plate and I'm stuffed so will save it for later. And I WILL be back on Monday. Have a great weekend everyone.
It's up to me now and nobody else.

    Afternoon Everyone

Its been OH's rest day today so I've been a little naughty with the Thorntons Bars again! But heyho its no flaming wonder I havent reached target yet.

I've come to a startling realisation today and thats food no longer is as important in my life as it was.My OH has been LCing for a few months now and whinges constantly about how bland the food is and how he misses chips, bread cereal etc.But tbh apart from the odd choccie and takeaway I really dont miss my old way of eating and I think the more you mess about with your food the more carbs you are adding to your diet so I just stick to plain basic unadorned food and it drives him nuts but for me it works as I've lost loads whereas OH is having real problems shifting the weight. Please feel free to ignore me but I remember having a thread convo with another LC and she told me your tastebuds and eating habits change and I didnt believe her but 14months on I think mine really have.It doesnt mean I wont put weight on or anything if I stopped LCing just food isnt as important any more

My OH is on lowcarb and is dying (he says) of constipation. There is stuff you can buy that is really mild, think its orange flavoured oily liquid. We can;t remember what it's called - does anybody know ?
