Sarah, a few people on here have mentioned the same thing with the delayed weight gain.
I dont do much weighing anymore, admittedly, i've not been lc, but i dont seem to have gained either:confused:

My boy is back to school taday (A levels this year) so its nice to be up early and back into a routine, didnt think i'd ever say it but i've missed it

Am lcing from today with a vengeance, maybe i can lose a couple of lbs before going away.

Was very high winds last night (outside), tis a bit calmer today and at least no rain, yet anyway.

It's funny how you cant lc til you're ready, gotta get the head in the right place.
I've missed the feeling of not being hungry and the lovely un-bloatedness.
Am off for a nice fry up, have a good day folks icon7.gif

Yeah, I know I shouldn't weigh so much but it's engrained now, and I feel out of control if I don't. Anyway, good to know I'm not alone.Trying to have an extra good day today.
  • Hello, I've been lurking here for a day or two and am trying out a bit of low carb eating. I've just read The Hungry Years by William Leith who explains low carb in such a great way but also looks at why we are overweight in the first place. Anyhoo, I've always been a low-fat dieter before (some success but nothing that lasts) so eating cheese etc is almost alien to me so I'm probably going to ask lots of really stupid questions. Anyone got any tips for a complete novice? (PS I'm writing this at work and my pc won't let me do nice smiley's - boo)
It's up to me now and nobody else.
  • Hi 4,
I will pass on the advice given to me by Badger when I first started. She said 'think protein'. So I sat down and worked out which were the high protein but low carb ingredients (for me that was stuff like tofu, soya mince, eggs etc) and then allocated an item for each day, to save having to think 'what shall I do for dinner tonight?' So for instance Thursday is soya night so all I then have to do is work out what I will do with it. I also have salad most lunchtimes with a hard-boiled egg for the protein. I find it works for me because I don't have to think about food all the time. :)
Vegetarian. Have cut out all high carb food. Not following any particular plan.Started 20/1/2009. Weight lost so far 29lbs. Target weight loss 38lb in total.

Had a chorizo omelette for brekkie, pepparmi as a snack. fried chicken and creamy spinach just now, and had my raspberry/yogurt/nuts concoction for dessert.

Just home - bad rain on the east coast so the drive from Leeds wasn't the best. Lunch was low carb at the hotel and I've drunk more coffee than is good for me. Cos I got home so late I've only had a bowl of raspberries with cream and flaxseed oil mixed in. Satisfied both taste buds and tummy.

    Roll on Friday.

Roll on Friday indeed! Right there withya hunni!

    Try this

    Delia's Way
Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent ice-cream drips .

    The Real Woman's Way
Just suck the ice cream out of the bottom of the cone, for goodness sake. You are probably lying on the couch with your feet up eating it anyway.

    Delia's Way
To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.

    The Real Woman's Way
Buy Smash and keep it in the cupboard for up to a year.

    Delia's Way
When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking tin, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead and there won't be any white mess on the outside of the cake.

    The Real Woman's Way
Tesco's' sell cakes. They even do decorated versions.

    Delia's Way
If you accidentally over-salt a dish while it's still cooking, drop in a potato slice.

    The Real Woman's Way
If you over salt a dish while you are cooking, that's tough !!!!!!. Please recite with me the Real Woman's motto: 'I made it and you will eat it and I don't care how bad it tastes.'

    Delia's Way
Wrap celery in aluminium foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks

    The Real Woman's Way
It could keep forever. Who eats it?

    Delia's Way
Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.

    The Real Woman's Way
Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half and drop it in 8 ounces of vodka. Drink the vodka. You might still have the headache, but you wont give a sh*t?

    Delia's Way
If you have a problem opening jars, try using latex dishwashing gloves. They give a non-slip grip that makes opening jars easy.

    The Real Woman's Way
Why do I have a man?

    Finally the most important tip

    Delia's Way

Freeze leftover wine into ice cubes for future use in casseroles

    The Real Woman's Way
    Left over wine???? Helllloooo !!
