WD Focus, that's really hard to do.

I've been feeling off LC for a while just because of plateau, but the break in my coccyx has me off my bike, and I really miss it. I'm going to go to the pool this afternoon and see if I can swim. getting in and out of the costume will be the difficult bit.

Yummy mummy is right about the weights, you see body change results really quickly when you start lifting serious weights (and don't turn into Madonna unless you do it for about 6 hours a day!). I used to do bdy for life and really enjoyed it. There are lots of exercise ideas on youtube, have a look at Tabata if you fancy a really hard cardiac work out but in only 6 minutes. There are also lots of body weight resistance using stuff from the house garden etc,
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.
  • thanks for your upbeat messages! It does help motivation reading all your posts, especially the youtube fitness things jordylass - i can't wait to go back to uni and get my student loan cos then I can get back to the gym -which I love..!

I really enjoy weight training, especially the machine you sit in and push the weight away from you with your legs - i get brilliant tone after just a week at the gym!! And thats saying something with my tree trunks!!

I will keep posting, I think I'm going to collect lots of low carb lovely recipes ready for when I'm done here at home! So I'll post them on here and that can be my contribution!! :D

by the way - focus - well bloody done! that must have taken extreme self discipline and you should be really chuffed with yourself... you are a shining example to us all :D

just thinking i will keep posting - what would you do without the gorgeous robert pattinson gracing the board?! hahahah :rotfl:

  • Hello everyone,
Long time - no post! Although internet access has been a bit flaky since we have been away, we sometimes have good access but until now, everytime I went to post, 'puter said no! I needed to log in or something so I tried this morning and ended up in knots with so many new passwords I didn't know which one to use! Thank goodness 'is nibs sorted it out for me.
Anyway, we are currently on Ile d'Yeu slowly winding our way south to leave the boat in Rochefort again. Can't wait to get home again.
I have now lost nearly 2 stone with only another 10 lbs to reach my target. For those who remembered that I brought a set of scales with me, they do work on a boat as long as it doesn't rock too much although it will interesting to see if they vary greatly when I get home.
For those just starting out or who are getting a bit fed up, I thought I would mention a few benefits of being slimmer:-
1 apparently I have stopped snoring. I never used to so it was obviously that last stone that did it
2 It has become easier to cycle without a tum. It's also easier to bend over and generally move about
3 I'm looking forward to replacing all my clothes. I've planned in my head exactly what I'm going to get. Hopefully by the end of November.

I've lost the equivalent of 13 bags of sugar. I know other peeps have lost more but for me I can't tell you how much it means to me. So I imagined carrying 13 bags of sugar around in a back pack, all day every day. It wasn't a nice thought and I imagined how quickly I would get fed up with that. But I have now lost that amount which is great. Just a few more bags to go!

Hope everyone is well, sorry I haven't had time to go back and catch up with all the posts posted since I last signed in. Hopefully I will be home in the next few weeks and will be able to keep up. In the meantime, good low carb to all!
Vegetarian. Have cut out all high carb food. Not following any particular plan.Started 20/1/2009. Weight lost so far 29lbs. Target weight loss 38lb in total.
  • Went low carb a few years ago and lost a lot of weight. Didn't manage to stick to it as found eating on the go difficult. Am out and about with my job and not always organised enough to prepare packed lunch. Am planning to try it again hence why I am looking at thread. Trying to stick to white meats and lots of vegetables and avoiding fattier elements present in Atkins.

Haven't gone through it all but will search for recipes and meal suggestions over next few days.

Other problem I found was bad breath and less than tactful colleague made a real fuss over this.

You only get bad (ketosis) breath if you eat too much protein. There are calculators on the web for how much protein fat etc to eat. But on a low carb diet you need to increase your fats, not your protein, then it shouldn't be a problem.

Wow, 2 stone, well done Gaye :T

I seem to be doing my own version of lc/refeed, 6 days refeed, 1 day lc :o
You dont lose any weight, but it is easy to stick to

Came home today to find middle son had walked to the shops for bread and was cooking, and young son said he'd hang the washing out for me, no probs
Am beginning to suspect invasion of the body snatchers :undecided

    Morning peeps

    just reporting in :D

Well the missing totm appeared and i`ve only gained 2lb :jusually it`s anything up to half a stone so a huge difference there, can`t wait for it to be over and i start losing again.

I`ve been a bit lazy these last few days and have been eating the same thing over and over again but tbh these shifts that i`m on atm are wearing me out so i don`t seem to have much energy left over for cooking.

Tonight i shall make a bit more effort and i`ve got some cod out of the freezer before leaving the house so tonight i shall be having buttered cod and chard - quite looking forward to it now.

I wonder how antibiotics upset the balance? i had a couple of quick dashes to the hospital on Sunday with an insect bite that got infected and the infection tracked right up my arm. The arm was massive and it`s still not anywhere near the size that it should be but i can bend it again now. Hope that there are no carbs in them there tabs :undecided

Gaye - great news re the 2 stone, smashing achievement

Focus - lol at the Morrisons episode, i`m not sure if my willpower could have stood up to that, well done you!

Have a good lc day everyone.

    SD
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

To be honest we always seem to eat the same sort of things. Nothing new or exciting but i guess we eat to live not live to eat and all that :D

The idea of eating the same things every week has changed slightly - will have chicken curry one week & fajita or pesto chicken the next. Bolognaise one week & chilli the next. Fish pie one week & lemon sole (expensive but sooooooo yummy) the next. That sort of thing. The main ingredient (meat or fish) will stay the same though, hopefully that will make things easier.

Really feel for you, jordy, that must be so uncomfortable. Good for you that you are still attempting to exercise though, hope you got on ok at the swimming pool.

That sounds nasty. I tend to have 'reactions' to insect bites, but nothing as bad as that. I usually have to take an antihistamine to calm things down a bit. How did it get infected?? Were you scratching at it?? :naughty:

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Gaye, good to see you back!! :D

Payday today so I'm going shopping to stock up on my meal-plan ingredients, determined to stick to my list as well!! Can't really get stuff for the whole month as I don't have enough freezer/cupboard space, even though I would like to, as I think I would spend less that way.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing ok.

    Good morning folks.
I really must make an effort now as the holiday is looming
I plan to use the cross trainer, if only for 10 mins a day, and get meals prepped early.

Am off to make chilli for the boys and beanless chilli for me.
  • I'm back :hello:

mazzers, thought of you when I was in Asda this morning - I bought a lovely dark pink tunic type top in the sale - £4.00!! Similar style (I think) to the tunics you were on about a while back. Not floaty though, as the material is linen/cotton-like, but I think it looks ok. :D Also got a thin dark pink cardie for £3.50 for those days/nights where it's chilly but not cold enough for a coat. Finally, a pair of cheap jeans in a size that I didn't want to get, but knew I had to :o That's why I went for cheap, I'm hoping not to be in them for long!! :rotfl:

Also, for anyone who likes their tuna - they had John West tuna chunks in brine (4 pack) for £2.
And Cathedral City Mature Cheddar (400g) for £2.
