It is what i want to hear, i want someone to stop me wasting my money on one :rotfl:
Glad to be of help then!
On a side-ish note, I'd love to be able to persuade more girlies to take up the weights cos its made a good difference to my shape, and has given me a form of exercise that I actually enjoy! Fair enough you do have to go to a gym, and a lot of the time they are filled with 'muscleheads' but honestly they very rarely pay me any (obvious!) attention when I'm working out, and the only 1 person to talk to me in a year and a half (yes, really!) was full of admiration for seeing a girl in the weights room with something heavier than 1kg pink dumbells!
If you have more muscle it raises your metabolism = more fat burning potential and low carb is an ideal partner to weight training for fat loss.

yummy i wanted to introduce a little bit of weights into my routine, but i wanted to stay at home to do it. Do you think if i just used what i got e.g tins of something or bottled water would it do anything at all? i read it somewhere that it still has some benefits. I just cant afford a gym right now. or weights :S0

Post number 33 - I found it quite interesting & made me think maybe I should look into it as well.0 -

Well it will be better than nothing but doubt it would make massive differences. To build muscle (and not just mahoosive bodybuilder looking ones) you have to overstress it to kick start it into making bigger ones to manage the next increase in stress, and I doubt a bottle of water is going to cause much stress! Low weight high rep exercises just keep the muscle working basically on more of an endurance basis (I hate hate hate the word 'tone' but that's what people seem to know it as) but don't build it.
You can get reasonable results with bodyweight exercises, things like tricep dips, press ups (girly or full), squats, lunges etc. You're better to stick to movements which work the biggest muscle groups if possible for maximum cardio effect too.
So if all you've got is yourself and what's in the kitchen cupboard then it may do something, just don't expect to turn into an athletic goddess overnight! I've been squatting/lifting 60+kg twice a week for a year and a half and I'm not there yet! Keep at it, and in conjuction with some cardio exercise, and good eating you should see some differences.Little lady arrived 13/12/110 -
Thanks yummy, i already do squats
so think will make do with what i can find in the kitchen for now and then if i keep it up might invest in some weights
thanks for all your help.

Just made the cream cheese 'muffins' which are now cooling slowly (still dipped in the middle) so will be having a couple of those for breakfast. Think I've found a good solution for snacks in the car. :j
Tomorrow have 3 days away for work - 2 nights in hotels - so need to decant some coconut oil. Won't manage the greek yoghurt and flaxseed oil but missing a couple of days shouldn't be a problem.
Slept a lot today but that's a reaction to the antibiotics, infection still appears to be there but will look tomorrow.
Hope everyone keeps motivated!0 -

Hey folks, I've been lingering.... because I haven't been low carb. Had a very family orientated weekend which meant a lot of digs about food and a lot of temptation which I gave into. 2 weeks and I will be in control again.
eating bread/rice/pasta/potatoes though has caused major bloating and IBS trouble. So they're now off limits again and then will get on strict induction come september.
I'd love to join in properly with the chat but feeling very annoyed about my situation and don't want to moan - even though I know you won't object! So for now I'm sitting on the side lines and throwing my comments in from afar!!
power plates - waste of time i reckon, or the nhs would be installing them in schools to combat obesity?!
anyway glad to hear your all okSPC5 #1651 total so far: £78.590 -
Morning peeps :hello:
Day one of my new regime!! Eek!! Finished off the wine last night so not a drop of alcohol will pass my lips for the next month at least!! Dare I admit that we could save about £20 a week by not drinking!!Meal plan done & dusted. Hubby thinks we can use the same weekly plan for the whole month?! Bit worried that we will get fed up with that but willing to give it a go. Think the kids will struggle the most, they weren't too happy to hear about our new health/money kick!! :rotfl:
Anyway, soton, please feel free to just post to moan - I do it all the time!! :rotfl: I have found it really difficult to be 'good' with the kids being off school for the hols, have spent loads & eaten loads more than usual!!0 -
Morning everyone
Gers those muffin sound so lovely. will try to make them this weekend if i can
Jen post away. we all have times when we are struggling. Normally when im finding it hard and i read some of the others comments it motivates me and sorts of gives me a push in the right direction
Good luck with the meal planning and money saving sweetsi hope to follow in your footsteps. To be honest we always seem to eat the same sort of things. Nothing new or exciting but i guess we eat to live not live to eat and all that
I have to confess something to you all. Last night did the craziest thing. I weighed in at my parents and then i knew i wasnt going to be able to weigh in again for a whole 2 weeks so thought why not just have sunday night off and eat whatever. So went round morrisons for half an hour picking out junk that i wanted to eat, doritos, dip, cookies, then was having a browse around the freezer for some ice cream and i looked down and felt so much guilt. Just left the stuff and walked out. (it took so much willpower for me to do that) kept wanting to go back and buy them lol. anyway my moment of madness was over. Feel happy i came so close to a carb binge and walked away0
