Sweet, Nerdy, Alias - thanks for the concerns (and anyone else I didn't spot havent gone through the rest of the posts yet) - I know whats causing the knee pain/leg pain/groin pain - its all down to me. I dislocated my knee a few years ago (bones in leg were locked as well) and because I was on my own in the garden I put it back into place myself. Bad move that one but seeing as I couldn't get anywhere without doing so I did. Did some damage to it muscle/cartilage/tendons, ended up having an op to repair cartilage, but it tends to flare up every so 3-4months and when it does I certainly know about it and it lasts a week at least. The pain in my side is apparantly muscular because I am not walking properly so not using muscles in my body properly it has pulled - so doc is hoping the tablets will help that out as well. I hate taking tablets at the best of times so this is doing my head in!
I made some of Mercy's fudge - my 10year old dd keeps nicking it :rotfl:- I have eaten 2 pieces she has had 3! Its not fair cos its lovely hot and cold - will have to make a secret batch just for me.0 -

Wel done to all who've lost.
Moonrose it sound really painful, you must have been in agony , hope the pills help and nerdy, sorrry you're not feeling great. Hope you are both soon on the mend.
Daisy you sound just about perfect to me. I would love to have your shape, Hubby sliced into top of finger with a hacksaw a few days ago and says its agony.
Thanks again for Mercys fudge. Its quick and easy when you cant be bothered cooking much, looks like we'll be having it most nights :rotfl: Im quite bloated today so have put off weigh in.
Is there a difference between Vit D and Vit D3 or are they the same thingBeen trying to catch up on all the info. The ones I got from H&B are only 400iu but Ted recommends around 3000iu.
Im liking your kind of exercise alias
Sweet it looks like its you and me in the naughty corner today.

Vit D3 is the easiest for our bodies to use as opposed to D2. Most supplements will be D3 but definately worth checking as D2 is next to useless. I take 5000iu a day from iHerb. Before I got these tabs I simply took about 6/7 (400iu) a day for a couple of months. When I started to see benefits I increased the amount. (it was August ish then and I wanted to 'stock up' internally for winter. Well, hadn't seen much sun
If you are using dry powder or solid tabs, take with food so there's some fat in your tummy to aid absorbtion. Vit D being fat soluble.

However, I have been having sex much more often so I figure that's extra exercise? :rotfl:
alias, you have made me blush!!I lead a sheltered life you know!! :rotfl:
I've got an 'apron' now that I never had previously.
Oh no, you said the word!! Just something about that word - freaks me out!!
I'm told that will not alter shape, it will only get smaller with weight loss or larger with overeating. It will always be there to some degree, so I'd like that dealt with.
Yep, that was what I was on about earlier, it's a horrible thought that you can't get rid of it without surgery. Will try exercise & hopefully it will reduce but there's no muscle behind it is there so not holding out much hope.
You think we could get 'job lot' rates if we all went together? :rotfl:
I'm up for it if anyone else is!
paula, I would really like to try pilates, preferably in the privacy of my own home!! There is a class run locally & I could go to it but the thought of all that stretching in public does put me off. I need more time. And excuses.
sue, that was a lovely cheery post this morning.
daisy, hope the finger is getting better, is your bandage 'comedy size' - I can just picture you!!
jumping, yep I'm in the naughty corner & I'm not a happy bunny.
Mercy, thanks for the Vit D info - I haven't taken any supplements since starting low-carb but have been wondering whether I should start. Going to read up on what everyone takes & why.0 -
that's why i do it in front of the telly! (set your video as it's on at 6am)
re vitamins - i have followed DrA's recommended list and added a few of my own ailments!
cheap multivit when on induction to make sure i'm covering the basics
calcium and magnesium tabs to stop leg cramps (the magnesium stops the calcium making you constipated)
chromium to speed up carb burning (i'm actuall taking "sugar balance" by healthy direct as they were on special offer and quidco)
plus
vitD (2400 iu) to help the winter blues and immune system
"Udo's choice" probiotic to help the digestive system and yeast balance
omega 3 and also glucosamine sulphate to help achey joints
erm is that it? yep, i think so!My name is Paula and I am a low carber1/6/08-83kg : 1/5/10-57kg
(Atkins/IPD) 24/1/13 - 69kg! Yikes!

UK adult 25(OH)d status by month
It can only raise status 24ng/mL or 60nmol/l so in winter you will still be well below the level associated with least chronic illness and in summer only just peak at 135nmol/l for about a month.
ideally nearer to 60ng 150nmol/l throughout the year is a better, safer, target and so almost double your current intake will be required to attain and maintain that level. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Ted, I did actually think I was taking the 5000iu that you recommend but when i checked the bottle a month ago i spotted that i was only taking half of that! I didn't actually bother changing the dose because a) Dr Oz from the Oprah Winfrey show recommends 1000iu (do i remember the official us recommendation being 400iu?) and b) i decided that as i was taking nothing before i was better off than i had been.....
Do you know if there have there been any studies on vitD efficacy at levels lower than 5000iu or have they all started at the figure (and any idea why they chose it?)
SweetS - back to the pilates thing. I have made myself a compilation dvd from the telly. If you (or anyone else) would like me to do a copy for you pm your address. My name is Paula and I am a low carber1/6/08-83kg : 1/5/10-57kg

The trouble with catching up with lots of posts is that you do forget what you were going to say to who (or is it just me)
So, sorry to anyone not acknowledged
I take lots of supplements too..
Senior ABC from H&B, , calcium 600mg, cod liver oil 1000mg, glucosamine 1000mg,
Chromium 100mg and CLA 500mg but is hard where to draw the line. Have got potassium but unsure about taking at the mo.
Am hungry now and cant eat til five, dont think i ate enough yesterday as was hungry in the evening, my last meal was Sunday lunch at 5pm yesterday and just got in from work so will go to prepare something nice.
Think i need more food on an 'eat' day.
Dont know if i can stick to the IF but is so much easier not needing anything
for work.
Overall still only 9lbs lost ( bit disappointing as five weeks today) cos i went up a bit and then down a bit but my trousers are more loose every day
Forgot to add that i was going to say can we get surgery done cheaper as a bulk buy as i'm skint too:D
But if i win the lottery, we can all go together.. i'll pay :T0
