Apparently sugar prices will go through the roof soon. Too much rain in south american regions, too little in indian ones. This will affect many items in the larder as many regular larder items have sugar in them.
Well the larders of ordinary folk maybe.
For once we will be moneysaving by not even trying!
Personally I think a tax on sugar, wheat and corn would do more for the general health of the country than much else :rotfl:

I'm going to make some oopsies tomorrow and will make half sweet with cinnamon and a touch of splenda, maybe some sugar free cocoa powder too, and if I like them with some cream then I may have found something to satisfy my need for something sweet... I'm not craving it as such today just nice to know I can have something tasty and sweet and low carb - and not succumb to the brownies!!!
i agree mercy with aspartame, I get a funny taste in the back of my throat. There are some flavoured fizzy waters in asda that are made with sucralose (splenda?) and they're quite nice - a little bit sweet. Tbh though I'm not adverse to a nice pint of cold tap watertaste lush round here

I use a very small amount of lime cordial in a pint of water, gives it that 'flavoured water' feel without the vileness :rotfl:

No offence taken Mercy, it made me smile
I actually drink a large bottle of Brecon Carreg water in work, a local Welsh mineral water.
As for eating in work, i did it at the free buffet the other day and although it was lc, i felt so full and uncomforable as i'm used to an empty stomach, so even if i'm hungry, i never eat when i'm there and always wait until i get home. Maybe thats why i find it harder when at home.
Hmm, sugar, i always used to think how much nicer a cuppa was at my friends, as she always used sugar in my tea, (only half a tsp tho) we use very little in this house, mainly for visitors.
My ex always used to say that if sugar was only recently discovered, it would be banned as it is so bad for us, he had a good point!!0 -
Good morning peeps :hello:
Another early morning for me - got woken up early (again ) - this time it was the the 3 insect bites on my arm itching like crazy!! Oh well, at least I get chance to post on here when I'm up!! Been really busy over last few days so tis nice to get a bit of peace with everyone still in bed.
Well, I'm a disaster alreadyDidn't start being good yesterday as planned. Still had/have birthday cake/chocolate so decided to delay things for a bit longer  Maybe start on Wednesday?? Would at least like to lose a bit of puffiness from my face (almost instantaneous when I cut the carbs) as my Scottish MIL is visiting next week. Had hoped to have lost about 3 stones before I saw her again but ............. more likely I've put that on since the last time I saw her!!
I must be such a disappointment to her
(I have 2 x slim SIL) *goes off to sob into a croissant with chocolate spread* Only kidding - I finished them off on my birthday!! :rotfl:
Talking of birthdays!! Have I missed a big one?! Has Daisy reached the big 40??!! Signed into FB briefly (it keeps crashing on me so I've kind of given up on it) & think I glimpsed something?? If so, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAISY!! I won't do the big virtual birthday cake thing just in case I've got it wrong, lol!!
Anyway, that's enough waffling, I'm going to read a thread that I noticed about overweight ladies making the most of themselves (or not, as the case may be in my personal experience)
Hope to see you all/catch up again soon

Morning all
Thanks for the bacon tip Mercy, will give it a go - also planning on doing the parmesan crispy thing you posted a few hundrded pages ago!
Yesterday was fine - bacon and eggs before 5.00a.m. - on road before 6.00a.m. and at my meeting dead on time at 9.30a.m. Lunch provided and I avoided all the carbs and was back home by 5.00p.m. :j
Today is a quiet work day (as in no travelling) so will take myself off to my office and sort out the outstanding stuff. Think I'll pack a huge salady type thing. Already had my bacon and eggs so that seems sorted.
Evening meal will be some stir-fried fillet steak (only a tiny bit and in coconut oil of course) with veggies. Last night I made roasted peppers/tomatoes
/onions and covered them with mozzarella cheese so it's almost all ready to go.
I don't have any sweet cravings at all and seem to find sticking to this LC really easy, sorry if that's no help to those who are struggling with it.

I have been riding my bike every day for the last week, but on Mondays I do it with a group and last Monday I felt really ill, my instructor was concerned the lack of carbs had me 'bonking'. I didn't think that was what it was but before I went out yesterday I used the excuse of loads of forthcoming exercise to have a banana sandwich. (wholewheat seeded bread). When I got back (felt fine on the the ride, but it wasn't so hot as last week either) the kids had made flapjacks and snickerdoodles, and I had one of each. Then I felt really despondent about a carb filled day and the stuff they made seemed excessively sweet to me.
I made low carb pizza for tea and ate all 4 pieces even though I was full after 2.
I am on the list for a gastric band, but I had pretty much decided not to go ahead with it. I don't want the surgery as I'm in perfect health, I'm enjoying the WOE and my weight was coming down but I think if they called me in for it now I'd be very tempted because of the plateau. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0 -
Morning all,
Im back on the low carb wagon! Day 1 today of induction, going for a clean one without nuts (i always aim for this but always end up caving in) not this time though.
Anyway jordylass on the subject of gastric band, i read a tragic story in the london metro this morning how this woman 30 years old went under for one and there were complications and she ended up dying from this. In the story it said how she was doing it for her daughter who is 4 years old. Although i could understand why she did it i just thought why did she risk it? dont get me wrong its the easier option but its so much more dangerous than doing an everyday diet. I felt abit upset that people can go to such dangerous lengths to get slimmer.0 -
Morning all,
jordylass - try not to get too despondent - everyone slips up and you're doing really well exercising every day... its good that you found the sweet treats too sweet, maybe just make some low carb versions for temptation times, and then you won't feel so bad? thats what I'm doing today - going to attempt an oopsie tiramasu!
I thought it i make a big flat oopsie and slice in to finger shapes, soak in decaf coffee and then whip cream and mascapone or philly with a touch of splenda and then dust with no sugar cocoa? might work??? i'm not sure mascapone is induction friendly so checking that out first....
focus - i'm on day 2 of my induction (after slipping up with the brownies) and going to give it a proper 2 weeks... I'm sure we can do it this time!!
anyway breakfast was an omellette with half a small shallot and cheese.... mmmSPC5 #1651 total so far: £78.590 -
Jordy, i'm the same, got no energy on lc, i dont know how folk say they feel energised cos i dont
and if i go carb crazy i can do much more, but.. once i start on the carbs, there's no stopping me, and personally i would rather stick to lc and not exercise, than be energetic and suffer all the ill effects that they cause, bloating, fat belly syndrome, terrible wind
severe heartburn, sleepy after meals and of course.. weight gain.
Stick with it girl, and forget about the gastic band, like focus said, it's just not worth the risk.
You can do it!0 -
I know someone was asking about coconut oil and what it does the other day - have alook here:
