Ach, i'm not worried about S Flu, and i've got a bad heart
If i get it, i get it, if it kills me, it kills me...
No point in worrying. It may never happen.
Elise, i took on mercys brill idea of a pill dispenser, its a large weekly one, and i fill up on Sunday, put it beside the bed, and i haven't forgotten a single day since i got it
It's also more convenient as i hated fiddling with all the bottles every night (i take 18 a day, but that includes my meds )
Gers, you are doing really well, keep up the good work.
I went out for a meal today and things went a bit pear shaped, so i have told my mates there will be no more meals out for me 'til after my hols in Sept.0 -
I am gutted!! Remember that slice of bread last week ( and the two new potatoes) - well just had my weigh-in and I've gained 5lbs in just one week.
Must admit that the clothes have been feeling a lot tighter the last two or three days but really - 5 lbs... Ah well, it's happened so must get my act together and cut portions, walk more.
Hope you all have a good day, don't worry too much about the SF - the media are having a field day cos it's the silly season newswise. All the fatalities have had severe underlying conditions and the percentage is not that much higher than the normal flu rates. Now is the time to get into a good nutrition/supplement regime to build up a good immune system to fight the infections in the autumn.
On another note - anyone know what's happened to Ted?0 -
What is up with this weather
Pegged out a huge line full of washing as it was sunny and windy, then 10 mins later its pouring, 10 mins later tis sunny again.
Hmm. i wonder if Noahs back, new ark at the ready
Not started off too good this morning, had a slice of toast and coffee
Hope everyone else is sticking to low carb.
Lots to do, gonna start with the kitchen
See you all later0 -
Have started being really strict I got down to just under 18st, and I mean just under (17st 13¾ lbs) and I've been hoveing between there and 18st 1lbs for ages.
Yesterday
B - 2 reggae chicken legs
L - ploughmans in Wetherspoons, (didn't eat the bread and had extra salad)
D - pork chop and some cheese stuffed mushroom antipasta thing from Lidl.
Today I had chicken legs again for brekkie. I was gagging at the coconut in my redbush tea, but find it's fine if i block my noseThere is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0 -

don't worry about the 5lbs - honestly. It's probably all water weight. just keep going and it will go. don't worry about cutting portions, unless you know you were a bit high on your carbs anyway, as the body likes stability. If you cut back by more than just a little bit it will only go into famine mode which means that you will actually store fat, depite the cutting back, rather than losing it. stay on track and the body will rebalance itself i'm sure.
I was mid-carb rather than lc because of birthday parties etc and put on a fair few pounds (but as expected so no panic). But when i went back to lc they didn't seem to shift at all. i still refused to panic this time and just decided to carry on as normal. my weight stayed stable for days and days but then I lost 0.5 one night, 2lbs the next and another 1lb last night, so now i'm back to where i was without haveing done anything different than when it wasn't moveing at all.
i know that when you eat carbs the body retains salt, so it retains water to cope with the salt so you weigh more. less carbs, less salt, less water, less weight.
my personal theory is that after a carbfest the body must retain the water longer than necessary just in case the salt levels go back up again, but after being lc for a while it suddenly says, nope, i don't need that and sheds the extra water it's been retaining really quickly - hence why the weight goes on really quickly when we go off plan but stays on even when we do it perfectly afterwards.
i'm so glad i sat out my weight gain rather than stressing about it and thinking well my weights not going back down so i might as have a piece of 85% chocolate as it tastes nice and need cheering up. (as i have done in the past)
and for the first time i don't seem to be reacting to the loss by "celebrating" with an allowed but naughty treat eg choc (and then not neing able to stop and putting on the weight i lost, lol)
i've now stopped buying the choc as if its in the house i eat it without the willpower to refuse, but if i get it out of my system (by being away for example) and its not in the house i don't think about it or crave it all. same with peanuts. Odd, and i'm sad that i have no self control but now i've spotted my weakness its easy to deal with.My name is Paula and I am a low carber1/6/08-83kg : 1/5/10-57kg
(Atkins/IPD) 24/1/13 - 69kg! Yikes!

Hi everyone
serena dont worry about the gain, on sunday after afew naughty days i had put on 5lbs but i restarted atkins induction and now this morning i was 5.5lbs less. so ive lost that and an extra 0.5lbs
Have never been able to stick to atkins induction more than a week, by the second week would have had some fruit or nutso even though i say i am doing atkins i was basically just eating low carb.

Thankyou Paula and Focus. Was a bit in shock this morning but managed not to fall off the lc wagon today so hope to keep going. I am really doing the low carb to deal with my blood sugars, cholesterol and trglycerides so that weight loss was to be the happy side effect but of course I then got a bit caught up in it all. Hey I'm only human and this is the first ( of soooo many) diets that I find easy to do - no weighing, no counting etc.
Have bought lots of lc books except the Atkins so maybe I need to get that, do the induction phase and then see from there. I was following Dr D but maybe I'm being too lax with amounts etc. It has been a joy to eat cheese without the guilt after all these low fat, tasteless years.0 -

Same as me Serena, i was only doing lc to control bg, weightloss was a bonus.
Obsessed with the weightloss now tho.
Trouble is after a carbfest i find it really hard to get back into lc, and after the toast today, lunch was a cheese sandwich.
Must admit tho, it gives me so much more energy, and i did loads of chores today that i have ben putting off for ages.
Back to lc tomorrow if i can get my act together0 -

Its great to be just under the next stone, i have been trying to get below 14 st for ages.
13 and 3/4 sounds much better than 14
It would help if i could stick to lc tho.0 -
Now no laughing you lot, you knew I wouldn't be able to not post until September, lol!! :rotfl:
Hello lovely low-carbers :hello:
Have had a quick scoot around the thread but head too fuzzy (totm due) to read all the posts!! But, just to clarify, I'm not under the patio, I'm just busy, busy with kids & hubby being on their hols.
Low carb & low gi WOE is out the window I'm afraidPartly because too many distractions at home & a lot to do with PMT/MOTM psycho moments!! See, nothing changes in my life!! :rotfl:
Anyway, it looks like most peeps are being good & losing weight/inches, so well done to you. I'm hoping to start again  soon, definitely before September anyway, so I may be reporting huge losses by then (:rotfl:) and, there again ...
So, worry not Daisy, I'm fine & dandy!!You are not posting much though?? And I see alias has gone awol again!! Hope everything is ok with everyone?? At least mazzers & mercy are still around, along with the newer peeps. Btw, Mercy, I'm diggin those kinky boots!! Love your garden & moggies too!!
Bye for now & I will try & pop in again before September (ok you know I'll be back before September) but lots of positive vibes heading your way in the meantime.
One more thing, I'm on FB now so if anyone wants to be my FB friend (as well as my low-carb friend), pm me & I'll check messages next time I sign into MSE (and won't I be embarrassed if no one does, lol!!)
