Many thanks for the reassuring words and the interesting links Mercy - I am now fully re-invigorated after reading all that, a good nights' sleep and my morning dose of coconut oil. Still not had any carbs so must be doing well.
I can't find any 10% fat yoghurt anywhere, the shelves are heaving with 'low fat', 'very low fat', 'fat free' stuff and the other brands with more fat are heaving with sugars and carbs! Where will I find the 10% stuff please?
Off to boil 2 eggs!
Hope all are well here.0 -
Morning everyone, not been posting much because i fell off the low carb wagon for the last two days now
jumped on the scales and have put on 1lb (believe me it could have been alot worst the amount i was eating) anyway back on it today and i begged my partner to help me stop binging at night time. thats my weakness nighttime munchies (and he has lots of goodies in for him which i can easily steal) anyway no more. *slaps hand* being good today!! want to get into the next stone bracket and i am 12lbs away lol

If you have Lidl near you they do the most fabulous 10% yogurt. It is the greek yogurt (not the fruit tho) and are delish, I buy two tubs a week (1kg tubs!) and was horrified yesterday when they didn't have any. Had to go to Asda and buy their greek yog but I know it won't taste the same. Lidl yog is lovely half and half with hellmans mayo to make creamy salad dressing which I use in my homemade coleslaw - another of Dr D's recommendations. So just look for the full fat greek yog and you should be okay.
Yesterday's menu
Day 42
B Yogurt & ground flaxseeds
L Ham and a Very large mixed salad with lemon & flaxoil dressing
D Smoked haddock poached in milk/cream with buttered green beans
S grated cheese
cream
Did a long walk with dog and then went shopping as had an empty fridge, ending up with exhausting both of us so the rest of the day we crashed. Bertie is a large yorkie but even so has very little legs and I'm just pathetically weak!
Mazzers - how about going back to basics and planning a week's meals, then only buy what's on your plan and cook enough veg for a couple of days at a time. In Asda yesterday they had lots of different bagged salads for £1 a bag - half a bag with some dressing then just chuck on some protein and good oil, et voila Lunch!
Please give it a try, be kind to yourself - you know you deserve it.
ok lesson endeth. lol
Darkly overcast here in Sussex, have been promised the joy of thunderstorms this afternoon...........
Have a lovely day everyone0 -
Thanks - been to Lidl and got the tub of 10% yoghurt -gosh, it's lovely. I'm not usually keen on Greek yoghurt cos of the set texture but this more creamy. Got some more strawberries and some cheese too. The contents of my fridge would give my mother a heart attack!
B: 2 boiled eggs in mayo with tomatoes
L: hamburger (oven cooked and drained) with roasted peppers and green leaves followed by strawberries and cream
E: don't know... salad with cheese and cold ham?
Also bought a bottle of flax oil and a tub of Splenda (can't believe how light it is and thought at first the tubs weren't filled properly) just to add to the berries and cream as no-one in the house takes sugar in drink.
Onward and thinner... down with fat, up with life. :T0 -
do try and cut out the splenda - the quicker you lose your sweet tooth the easier it becomes

handy hints to make your berries taste sweeter - make sure they are room temperature and not cold, add vanilla extract instead of sugar and if you are cooking them try sweet cicely. My name is Paula and I am a low carber1/6/08-83kg : 1/5/10-57kg

Hello all. Went away for a fortnight at the end of May and is taken me this long to finally catch up, you lot can't half talk
I try to just skim to catch up but its far too interesting so I end up hours later still nowhere near up to date and I somehow feel loath to post anything till I get to the end.
Anyway sorry to hear some of you are having a horrid time at work - I can fully sympathise as my boss is an a*se a lot of the time. Made worse IMO as he's then sometimes fine, so I live on eggshells wondering what his reaction will be each time I open my mouth!
I had a lovely time on holiday and, although I did eat quite a few puddings, I managed to only put on a few pounds. Seems giving up the booze in March has given me a bit of leeway on the carbs before I tip over the edge into massive weight gain (and thrush) although it still had the usual effect of making me crave more sweet things.
I have a - probably not healthy but possibly better than carb binging - solution to the urge to pig out on sweet things when I feel bleaurgh. Low Carb Megastore - if you spend £75 you get free postage, or Avidlite - 5% off if you spend over £65. I know it sounds a lot but I stock up on sugar free chocolate and sweets and other stuff so that when the grumpy's or TOTMs hit me I can splurge. The chocolates are somewhat self regulating as they make you rather windy but, for me, they hit the spot without sending me into a downward sugar fest. If you want a splurge from low-carb-megastore I'd recommend Erythritol (sweetener which IMO is the best sugar substitute available), Russel Stover chocolates (grab bags and peanut butter cups are my favs), Josephs thick maple syrup (to add to yogurt), Josephs pittas, Cavalier vanilla wafers (but only if you have some level of self control) and finally granola - kitchen granola Maple oat mixed with Lizis Granola belgian chocolate, stirred with some double cream and greek yoghurt is my real comfort food! then of course there's the DaVinci syrups if they float your boat (they don't do it for me).
Sorry for waffling on, will try and stay up to date and post less more often, rather than all at once!0 -

Haven't got a sweet tooth any more! Just using the Splenda for the first time this morning and put a little bit in with the yoghurt which is too tart for my liking.
Now got a bowlful of strawberries (been out of fridge since 7.00a.m.) with mixed 10% yoghurt and cream and a teaspoon of flax oil stirred in too. Should be bouncing with health and vigour by 10.30!
Had my hair cut at 7.30a.m. (love my hairdresser for this), shopped in Hexham and back home in Newcastle in time to watch Time Team repeats on More4 - good day so far.0 -

Coconut oil is one of the recommended methods of helping to defeat fungal/yeast infections. Or you can use caprylic acid tablets liquid is better) to do the same, but it's less effective. I've got my elderly mother doing this as she's suffered years of undiagnosed and mystery illnesses and, after only the past 10 days, she's reported a significant improvement.
http://www.coconutdiet.com/candida.htm
One of the most well-known benefits linked to caprylic acid is its ability to treat fungal infections such as ringworm and candidiasis an overgrowth of a type of parasitic yeast-like fungus called candida that lives in your gut, which can cause a range of debilitating problems including chronic fatigue, thrush, abdominal bloating, depression and, if left unchecked, can also result in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
In terms of the latter, caprylic acid supplements can be particularly helpful when used alongside other established candidiasis remedies such as acidophilus (try and choose a product that guarantees at least 2 billion viable organisms per capsule), and following a diet low in sugar and refined carbohydrate0 -
Morning all:D
Lost another lb this week and another 1% body fat!!!
One more week and it's my first ½ stone gone:T
That's with the lapse of a some chips and chapatis :rotfl: Mind you chapatis don't count too much cos they're very small and made with proper wheat flour not processed white.
I cannot give up my Splenda - who cares about the sweet tooth - my downfall is savouries - sausage rolls etc - I admit it -
IT WAS ME WHO ATE ALL THE PIES!
:eek::eek::eek:
Stil finding it expensive shopping for me and the family separately though - Kids are both carb addicts and littlie is doing his best but loves his white bread sarnies:rotfl: Have cut down on the junk normally bought and most stuff is made from scratch but they love their tatties and I'm not going to get them screwed up about dieting etc as they're both like beanpoles. I replace their chips for asparagus in mine as I love the stuff, even if it does make my wee smell weird:rotfl:
Off to cook some bacon now to go with oeufs en cocotte (eggs in pots) - Line pots with spinach and crispy bacon - crack egg into each pot and cover with cream - sprinkle over nutmeg and paprika and cook in warm (GM 5) oven for 15 mins. I make about 4 at a time and nuke them when I need breakfast in a hurry.

Hi folks
Had a busy week, so apologies for ignoring you all.
I've changed my WOE. I've gone from Bodytrim to IPD. I also treated myself to Rose Elliot's Veggie Low Carb recipe book. I like a change from all the meatI am finding it strange that my tastes have changed. I had a salad from a takeaway shop last week and I hadnt realised that one of the salads was carrot and raisin. I spat the raisin out as it tasted so terribly sweet. Bizarre!
I made the bacon and avocado melt for breakfast today. Lovely...I'd definately recommend it. Has anyone tried the onion bajees? There are next on my list of things to try. Oh and I made the Thai style meat balls with peanut sauce for dinner last night. Again, very much recommended.
Its my cousin's birthday today and we're having a bbq. The rain hasn't stoppedI'm looking forward to prawn kebabs, chilli chicken and burgers. Yum
Hope you're all enjoying the weekend xx
