Well, it's day 24 and I'm just loving this way of eating. I may have to planning my meals a bit better as I have been eating a lot of cheese. This has a lot to do with the fact that after ten years of deprivation - I can! So I must get my act together and get more veg on the plate.

Am using the coconut oil to fry with and also in my coffee but I still haven't got to taking it off the spoon although I still think I'm taking at least 2 tablespoons a day and I also have a tablespoon of flax oil in my salad dressing at lunch. I am trying to have oily fish at lunch but should I buy it in tomato, oil, brine or water, what would you suggest.

sss: your friend is right to want to get away from bagged salads as to keep them fresh, they have something like 10 different chemicals/ gases added to the bags.lol This week I bought a tray of 'living salad' from Lidl for 99p and intend to separate each little lettuce out and transplant into my veg bed in the garden, sure it will work out a lot cheaper.

    Hi Serena

I try to buy my fish in water or olive oil, as brine is too salty and I have cut out vegetable oil (too much omega 6).

As for coconut oil, I detest the taste and have found the best way to get it down quickly is to dissolve it in hot water, from the kettle, and down it like a shot. This was suggested by someone else in the coconut oil thread (so thanks to them).

I have now lost 10lbs with the weight loss really speeding up when I started taking the coconut oil every morning.

    Regards
    Sharlee

focus: If you really want to cut down on spending then you could always try what I used to call my emergency budget ( the week before payday usually). I would work out a week's menus for each meal, down to the number of carrots, sprouts whatever, and then do a shopping list accordingly. Obviously using whatever was already in the cupboards/freezer but really counting everything I needed.

My son was always sooo embarassed but I would only buy 4 sprouts if that was all I needed! I also bought at the deli counter so only 2 slices of ham instead of a packet. It brings you up sharp but does make you look at shopping in a different light and helped to cut down our overall spending as well as it became a case of 'do I really need this' instead of just chucking bags of stuff in the trolley. By the way check the prices per kg of bagged versus loose veg as there can be quite big differences. Hope that helps, also on the OS board they are a very thrifty lot and full of good ideas.

Thanks for this :) i really feel i can cut back in alot of areas of my food shopping. just have a hard time buying food for my lunches at work. thats my major spend area. Plus getting food that i can legally snack on is expensive. but thanks again, i know that these little things really do add up. so will try this month :) does anyone else work in an office environment? what do you have for your lunches? apart from the normal salad.

weighed in this morning and have lost 2lbs this week :jthats 17lbs in 7 weeks!! im so happy about this :D didnt even do any exercise this week but will do (or try to next week to get better results)

Did you get in from Holland and Barrett? Oh, btw I got a great bargain on Thursday. I've taken to mooching in the charity shops in Clerk St in my lunch hour. I was in the Oxfam bookshop and I got the IP Cookbook for £3.99. It's practically split new :D It was in my basket on Amazon for £11.99 and I kept humming and hawing over it.

Well done on your weight loss :T:T:j:j

I'm office based. I tend to have my salad while sitting at my desk, then go out for my walk. I'm trying to get away from obsessing about food, so I'm happy to have a salad, its one less thing to think about. I vary between chicken, ham, beef, egg, tuna, cottage cheese etc. I guess I could make an omelette, but I just couldnt be bothered :o
