I second that Sharlee, great work Ted.
I will look for tinned fish in water then or maybe olive oil if I'm lucky, thanks for the suggestion.
Today is day 25 of Dr D's WOE and I succumbed to the scales. Am exactly the same weight as I started:( But I do have to say that I don't care as I feel so great and my skin is smoother. The dog is doing well with a lovely coat gained by 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil at breakfast - he is a 6.5kg Yorkshire terrier.lol
Before I started with the oil I had dry skin, very bad on parts of my face, splits at the corner of my mouth and ridged, splitting nails with dry cuticles. Okay I won't know about the nails for a while longer, I think it takes three months to grow out from the nailbed, but I am certainly keeping with the programme!:D
I have kept a record of my daily eating and I think that I may have gone overboard on the cheese now that I feel that I can. This would have an effect on the weight but I must say that my trousers and shorts are all having to be hitched up all the times so I think that there must have been some inch loss ( can't believe that they've all stretched in the wash) now I wish that I had done lots of measuring before I stared the woe.
Ah well, it has clouded over down here on south coast so I have no excuse not to go and cut the grass. Have a lovely day all.0 -
Advice needed plz.
When i went for my blood test, it was a fasting one, and i feel it's gonna show my bg levels are under control as i was icing, but, doc said (unaware that i was icing) have another test in a week 2 hrs after a good breakfast, now, should i have a good lc brekkie or a high carb one?
Cos if its lc, then my bg should be ok, but should i be seeing how my body deals with high sugars (carbs)or not
Am not really sure, no good asking doc cos he'll only pooh pooh lc.
But if you get a glucose tolerance test (in a hospital usually) it checks how your body deals with bg over a few hrs.
Am confused so any thoughts welcome.
Hi Mazzers,
I'd probably eat a "normal" i.e not low carb brekkie, something you would have eaten before the icing started as your GP said a "good breakfast" and thats what they usually mean. The GP is probably testing insulin levels & wants to know how your body is reacting to sugars etc so the results won't be correct if you aren't eating any. Icing is a way of keeping your sugars levels constant. You can always tell the nurse what you ate. i wouldn' t go sugar mad but something like porridge or museli, or toast would suffice.
I'n not a doctor though, in fact I only deal with people above the neck! (ENT)

Friday
B: homemade yogurt
L: low fat cereal barsmall pizza with extra cheese and salad, strawberries and cream, low fat cereal bar
Drinks: lots of squash, a coffee
Exercise: none
Saturday
B: nothing
L: quiche (not low carb), 2 cheese and salad rolls, caramel wafer, crispsvegetable tartlet with salad, low fat "iced dessert"
Drinks: lots of squash, a coffee
Exercise: none
Saturday lunch was planned. The low fat junk food was very bad though. I can't really control myself around that sort of thing and my parents' house is full of it. The "iced dessert" was so tasteless though, serves me right.Ditto though, my search for 'olive' mayonnaise, I know Hellmans used to do it but can't find it now as I have tried to take out all the vegetable oils in my diet using only butter, coconut and olive.

Me neither
Thanks marrow, i've been thinking the same thing, and if bg is high will tell the doc that the lc is controlling it ( if indeed it is) and will ask for another test after a lc brekkie and see what he thinks.
That i'm crazy probably :rolleyes:0 -
hi everyone
I've not been around much I had a really bad GB attack starting last Saturday, lasting until Thursday night:eek: culprit was a mushroom and pepper omelette (without cheese)
Pain was so bad this time one of the GP's at the practice prescribed Pethidine:eek: That was really scary, especially when I read the contra indication list........even worse when I heard that might've been the drug MJ OD'd on, turns out after 2 days and still no relief another GP gave me anti inflammatory's.....and mentioned that I shouldnt been given the pethidine as it makes GB's worse:mad:
The good news is that as I didnt eat at all for 4 days I've lost about 7lbs, the problem will be keeping it off now I've got my appetite back:D
especially as I seem to be craving chocolate:mad:
Anyhow, made a lovely soup today, 2 red and green chillies, leeks, broccolli, cauli, peppers let them all sweat for ages in a wee drop co!!!! oil, added some real chicken stock (from some batches I had in the freezer).......a tub of passata
swized it all in the blender and added mushrooms
yum, nice and spicy
still trying to lc as much as possible and it looks like I'm going to have my op sometime in August:j.......well not really jumping for joy cos am gonnae have an op.......but you'se know what I mean:rotfl:
Take care all and speak soon xx
lol.....filter didnt like the way i mustve misspelt coconut oil...cheerio hen0 -
Mayonnaise with olive oil
(Adapted from Basic Mayonnaise from Donna Hay’s Modern Classics Book I)- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
- While the motor is running, pour the oil in a slow, thin, steady stream and process until the mixture is thick and creamy (with the emulsifying disc it came together very quickly…not bad at all for its first time out).
That’s it! You’ve got wonderful, tasty, homemade mayonnaise0 -
Ihaven't made the mayo recipe above, I just googled olive oil mayonnaise and this was the result, but this is as near to how I remember making it in the past. I always used the blender and had a little lid inside the big lid which made pouring the oil in much easier. Home made mayo will last a couple of days in the fridge.
mazzers: If you normally have a lc brekkie then I would go with that as he wants to see what your bg levels are on a normal day - don't know but maybe if your body is now used to lc and then you give it a high carb breakfast it might send your sugars skyhigh. Just a thought.0 -
I have had a bad day.
I've argued with the pigs living here and refused to cook
so its been grab anything day for me, and the latest thing was a corned beef pasty.
I have remained in my bedroom all day as i am sick of them and the constant mess.
Hopefully i will be able to get back to lc tomorrow0 -
