Well that's the massive pan of pork and veg stew and coconut muffins done. Think the fudge needs another 5 mins.

Jumpin - sweets had it right when she says preparation is the key. Think ahead. It's so much easier to resist the call of carbs when you have ready prepared munchies of a low carb value :)

Paula - resist the lure of chocs by having some coco candy handy. I'll re-edit this post with the link in a bit. Here it is!
    Coco candy

I've put it in the list too.

ethansmum - I agree with the general concensus. It's good to be in the zone when there are no distractions. Holiday in carribean is a major distraction! Don't let anything stop you having a great time, you'll only regret it later (leading to mega carb binge - is it worth it?) Have fun and just be careful - ie don't pig out. DO enjoy it without worrying though.

Mazzers! well done on the too big clothes! Sell the ones that don't fit on ebay then buy some more!

Sweet - Tunnocks is just another name for the devil. Do not be seduced, he'l have you if you let him! (wish there was an icon for 'satan' :))

Jumpin - 1 last point. The combination of 2L water and some serious fudge can lead to explosive consequencies :rotfl: However we all are different.
I believe Tena do a pant which are hardly noticeable but work well :) Ok thats for wee wee but if you put one on back to front.....:rotfl:

    Off to rescue the fudge!

It took 2 pieces of chilli fudge in one day for my 'reaction' but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a stronger [strike]bowel[/strike] disposition than me!! :rotfl:
Sorry if I'm lowering the tone again!! :o
And yes, it sounds like you are not eating enough food during the day. Can you cook some sausages & keep them in the fridge for nibbling? Or even a cooked chicken breast to have with some coleslaw? Babybels etc.

Aw hunni! I LOVE it when you lower the tone, makes me feel at home :rotfl:

I agree that not enough is being eaten, jumpin. Though if you just carry on not eatin you will see a difference. If, however, you get really hungry tomorrow and pig out - well your not going to see the results you want.

As snacks also think about having a few boiled eggs about. You can quickly chop 1 and mix with cream cheese, mayo and other things. (I like smoked salmon trimmings for this, dead cheap and v gd 4 ya) or cheese like feta mixed in, herbs? Then all you need is salad leaves and or celery. Or make some crackers to have with it.

A boiled egg matched up with a small pack of pork scratchings makes a satisfying breakfast or snack.

Preparation is everything and it doesn't all happen at once. Having SOMETHING low carb you enjoy in the fridge makes all the difference.

  • Mercy, you put my ready-meal chicken dinner to shame :o but in my defence I have been looking after goey-eyed daughter for the last 2 days so haven't been able to do a proper shop. That's my excuse & I'm sticking to it!!
As for the tena idea ....... :rotfl: :rotfl: I must lead such a sheltered life!!
Btw been googling for da vinci syrups but haven't found anything so might have to fork out for delivery after all. Not very MSE!!

My OH hands me the whole green chillis from his chicken jalfrezi, and they have no effect at all in that department! I think I have an iron mouth/stomach. The downside is that my palate is somewhat jaded from years of curries etc. - I need loads of salt and pepper, and strong flavours, to make my food taste of anything. Not terribly healthy salt-wise, I know. Still not made the 'fudge' but I definitely will soon.

Had broccoli and Stilton soup for lunch, ham and cheese for snack, and lamb shoulder with cheesy leeks :D and broccoli for dinner.

I fear the fudge will seem very tame! Maybe including a bit of the blue cheese would give it more impact? Or just go 4 it on the chillies :)

I love blue cheese. Do you have the rosenbourg calender? Lotsa money off vouchers on it so worth having. Check out freebis forum if you don't (probably sucking eggs here :) but reckon they're still sending em out.)

Maybe I'll just go for it on the chillis :D (Love blue cheese though!)

I don't have the faintest idea what that calendar is. :o Will check it out. I love freebies and bargains of all kinds. Had a lovely 'yellow sticker trawl' through M&S today, late afternoon. Went for their £10 dine-in too. Unashamedly rummaged through the chickens to find the biggest one - £6.80 :D. And Sainsbury's still have half-price pork, and also half-price legs of lamb.

If you have a John Lewis credit card, you can join 'My Waitrose' and they mail you money-off coupons. I got £2 off belly pork in the post yesterday. Unusually, this is off any amount - so I could get £2.50's worth of belly slices from the deli and use the coupon.

I've avoided Waitrose lately, as I'm on an economy drive (i.e. broke), but I might be returning because Waitrose are changing the discount for their staff. Instead of 12.5% for employees only, it'll be 15% and for a nominated family member too. DD has Saturday job, so looking forward to that!

Just Googled the Rosenborg calendar. None left :(

EthansMum, forgot to ask you earlier, where are you off to in the Caribbean? I'm puffing clouds of green smoke like the others - sounds like heaven!

Ok....basic question time now......:o (you all know how good a cook I am :rotfl: ).......anyway, I need to stop buying M&S stuffed chicken breasts as I'm fed up paying loads of money for what I could probably do myself....soooooo....what do I stuff them with? I know I can put veg like green beans or leeks in etc and wrap bacon round them, but what do I use to get the sauce bit in the middle? Would just butter with garlic do or should it be more of a sauce like a cheese sauce? How do you get it to stay put in the middle? If I put a slit in the side, wont all the stuffing just fall out? (See...this is another reason why I used to like chips on an oven tray  )

:o I eat anything pretty much (whether it works or not and no matter what it looks like:D ) but I'm planning on giving everyone the same thing tonight so I'd like it to at least look as normal as possible.

:D I really am embarrassingly useless in the kitchen you know. I'm much more of a 'heater up' than a cook from scratch kinda gal.:rotfl:

Very behind with the posts again - I just can't keep up with you all!
Anyway I CAN cook but am far too idle to do so (particularly with an OH that enjoys cooking) but I have a very easy standby for when I have to fend for myself - chicken in foil in the oven.

Smear some oil on a square of foil, dump on a chicken breast, add something *, make into a loose tent, shove in oven for 20 minutes at about 200. (Open carefully as steamy and, depending on something*, liquidy).

the something* is up to you - I usually have one of the following:
    blob of mustard
handful of fresh or dried herbs
    slice or two of lemon
    sorrel from the garden
all with or without a blob of cream cheese and/or a splash of white wine
topped with a drizzle of olive oil and ground pepper.

For veg to go with its either a microwave steamable pack of veg or green beans in the oven -
In a small roasting tray put:
pack of french beans (ready trimmed for complete laziness)
handful of dried herbs (I add rosemary from the garden)
    salt and pepper
crushed garlic (I have a freezer full of icecube trays of home grown crushed garlic)
good dollop of olive oil and swish around
cook with chicken - or a little less time if you don't like some of them crispy.

My oven's a bit uneven so the biggest effort is to turn the beans round after 10 minutes!
  • Hi all, i have been lurking and reading your threads for a couple of weeks now and decided to bite the bullet and sign up and join in (if you'll have me of course lol).

I am currently doing the Atkins for the second time in my life, the first time was very successfull and lost 2 stones and 2 lbs and have managed to keep a stone of this off for the last 5 years however one stone did slip back on when i wasn't looking so have decided it has now outstayed it's welcome and must go.

Anyway look forward to joining you all and trying out some of the fab recipes that have been posted on here
