Wondered where thread was when I signed in?? We were on page 2!! Eek!! Everyone obviously has better things to do today!!
Garage is mostly done, things to go to the tip are in the way though  but have bagged up charity stuff & thrown away quite a lot of rubbish. At least the floor is clear-ish.
So what has everyone else been up to today??
Having a Jamie Oliver chilli for dins tonight (complete with kidney beans & chickpeas so not very l-c). Actually made it last night but there was tons left over because hubby doesn't like kidney beans/chickpeas  so he didn't have any. Have frozen 2 lots & there's still loads for tonight's dinner for me & DD1.
Anyway, I'm off to make myself a well-earned coffee. :coffee:0 -
Well done on the clear out sweet, whenever i make plans that involve physical activity, i get waylaid
on purpose.
Is a beautiful day here, i have started painting (half heartedly) but got waylaid by my ex who came to do a few odd jobs for me, well, his son really
I am now having a nice glass of the wine i opened last night, totm is so heavy i feel drained.
Sorry if thats tmi
House is very messy, bit at least there are no dirty dishes for a change, i constantly have dishes to wash.. where do they come from
From the boys rooms, thats where, they collect mould in them for a few weeks, then bring them down and dump them in the kitchen :mad:0 -
Hello everyone!
I'm back from my American Route 66 road trip/neice's high school graduation holiday. You've been very busy while i've been away so i don't think i'm even going to attempt to catch up what i've missed)
I was surpised that the shops over there weren't full of low-carb stuff like I was expecting them to be. I was expecting it to be easy but didn't manage to find any sugar free flavoured syrups until my last day. I have no idea what they taste like but i am looking forward to being able to flavor (sorry flavour) the lidl greek style yoghurt. yum yum.
I didn't put much weight on despite the unavoidable burger buns on the road and "I've made spaghetti bolognese & garlic bread - you can eat that right...." (V nice actually and a nice treat since i haven't had pasta for 11 months), which i knew really as my clothes were still fitting me pretty much the same. I have to admit though that I had made busting out of my clothes less likely by not packing anything that was on the small side in the first place - I knew that doing low carb properly was going to be trickier than usual and that it would have been a crime to have avoided chocolate malts totally
In fact....... *drum roll*....... i think i'm not even going to try to lose those extra 2/3 pounds as I'm probably looking better for it - my bony chest plate is not so scrawny looking now like it could do before. (Just to remind you I'm a 2 sizes different pear shape and not showing off in any way at all here)
Hurrah! what a breakthrough - the number on a scales is just a number and lower does not automatically mean better!
I wouldn't have been happy with the numbers going up before i went away and i would probably gone back onto induction but i was quite shocked to see how bony my shoulders & chest looked in some of the photos. (the rarity of exposed flesh in sundresses rather than the 2 layers of sweatshirts like i'm back into now) so I'm going to stay on lifetime maintenance.
Now if only I could find a way to squeeze the fat on my bum up to my chest........
I'll have to update my sig for my new hiher weight, although I can't remember if i had actually changed it to my pre-holiday lowest kg - i don't like to count my chickens as it were so i didn't reduce my sig until i was sure my weight really had gone down and was stable and that it wasn't just a temporary blip or a midcycle drop which would come back up again (in the same way that our due-on-water-retetion-increase falls off again afterwards)
ps I had a fair few sabotage comments, mainly from my sister-in-law telling me i was too skinny and wouldn't believe me when i said that i was the same weight that I was before (as proved by my old clothes fitting me perfectly) and not actually as low as when I was excercising 3 times a week, as proved by the fact that those clothes are still too small ;-)
To be fair though i probably look skinnier now than i used to as my weight is the same but my shape is even less balanced than it was before - my waist is a lot thicker but my shoulders/chest are bonier and i'm an AA rather than an A cup before. As I try to dress to hide my pear shape they will just see my scrawny top half and ignore my plump bottom half.
Roast chicken for tea for me. It's nice to be home. And back to be amongst people who aren't surprised that bagels are in fact carbohydrates. and toast. and noodles. and waffles. but no, regular cheese doesn't have carbs, nor chicken, nor eggs :-) ...... maybe that explains why my brother didn't lose much weight when he tried a low carb diet last year........My name is Paula and I am a low carber1/6/08-83kg : 1/5/10-57kg
(Atkins/IPD) 24/1/13 - 69kg! Yikes!

Hey paula, welcome back
I returned recently and didn't even attempt to catch up with the 50 odd pages of [STRIKE]chatter[/STRIKE] LC talk:D
Glad you had a lovely time and have settled on your weight.
I've been maintaining for a while now and agree with what you are saying.
Originally, I was trying to lose another 1/2 stone but was really struggling. Eventually I gave up and settled at my current weight. It was only after I stopped getting so paranoid over the scales that I realised that although I was heavier in weight, I was actually smaller in clothes sizes than I was previously. Now, I rarely stand on the scales but just judge by my clothes;)
If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.
My way is Atkins0 -
Evening! Welcome back, Paula.
Chicken Cacciatore for 4: 13g carbs/portion
olive oil, s&p
4 chicken legs or breasts, or 8 chicken thighs or drumsticks
1 400g can of chopped tomatoes
150ml chicken stock
200ml white wine (or more chicken stock)
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic
200g mushrooms
1 tsp chopped fresh sage
1 tsp chopped fresh rosemary
8 black olives
Heat the oil and cook the chicken till brown on all sides, lift it out of the pan and keep warm.
Add the chopped onion and garlic to the pan and soften, add the wine and bring to the boil. Return the chicken to the pan along with all the other ingredients except the olives, cover and simmer for 30-40 mins till the chicken is thoroughly cooked. Add the olives and heat through.
This is substantial enough not to need much accompaniment, I had it with some courgettes.0 -
