oooooooooo so many birthdays coming up :)

has anyone tried that baked custard recipe? did you use waterdown double cream ? im not sure what exactly half and half is. also the recipe says 1 teasp of vanilla, but is this vanilla essence?

I made baked custard but i dont know which recipe i used, there are lots on google, and they are all about the same. It was fab, warm or cold, i did post how lovely it was at the time.
Half and half is American milk type thingy, i used double cream and water, i also used vanilla essence, but you could use a vanilla pod if you have any.

I have searched and searched for my post about the baked custard but i just cant find it. icon9.gif

Happy birthday Gaye, it all gets a lot easier after that big one or maybe I just gave up! lol Enjoy your day

Well done on those losses ladies, hope mine will be as good but won't know 'till end of the month. Can't weigh weekly as I get obsessive then.

    Yesterday was okay

B Greek yog & crushed linseeds
L Corned beef and large mixed salad dressed with flax oil and lemon.
D Cod in butter sauce with carrots and green beans

snacks were smoked salmon & cream cheese roll ups (heaven!) and some cubed feta cheese

If I'm doing wrong can someone please putme straight.

My coconoil arrived but with no sun in the conservatory at present it is still hard. How do I melt it to make the cocktail - help please

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    Hi everyone, I'm back wave.gifwave.gifwave.gif
Well, actually, we got back last wednesday but with washing, working and jet lag, I just haven't had the energy to post:o

Anyway, had a wonderful time. We had torrential rain, thunder and lightening AND a tornado warning eek.gif in the first week but the second week was glorious sunshinebiggrin.gif. The weather didn't stop us doing anything we wanted to dowink.gif.

I was reasonably in control with LC whilst away but still enjoyed ice cream and cake every day:D. I stood on the scales when I got back and had only gained 5lbs (and have lost 3 of those since my return):j. To be honest, I think all the walking around the parks helped (but didn't help my blistered feet much:(). I have been absolutely shattered since return... I fall asleep at the drop of a hat. I need another holiday to get over this;).

    How is everyone????
    Any big news???
    Any new recipes?
Any newbies?........ (I'm not even going to attempt to read the last 50 odd pages I've missed.......... Boy, you lot can talk:rolleyes::p:D).
    Happy birthday Gaye:beer:
If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.

I get mine from www.coconutoilcompany.com - £13.50 for 500ml or £54 for six 500ml tubs. That works out at £9 per 500ml tub.
I know it's dear for one tub but if you can stretch to six at a time that's pretty good. It is nice stuff too, premium extra virgin. I've been using it on my skin too (decanted into a different pot, natch - it is brill for the really dry skin on my face/elbows etc) . I think £9 is the cheapest I've seen unless anyone else knows different. I live in Lincoln so we've got no ethnic grocers (unless you count Polish and they don't eat Coconut oil as far as I can tell) so you can't even get the "cheap" stuff I used to be able to see in shops in London.
I find that a coffee with a spoonful in keeps me going between meals and I don't find it necessary to snack.

Starting again today. Yesterday I managed to pull a muscle/something in my left shoulder and was in AGONY couldn't even lift my hand to my face/ get undressed anything so I had some pasta for dinner out of the freezer (spag bol I'd made for no 1 son) I really couldn't cook, couldn't lift a saucepan and the pain was so bad it made me really really miserable.

Back on track today. In less pain too. Maybe I trapped a nerve?? Luckily I had no chocolate in the house. :o

Today will be roast beef salad for lunch (leftover brisket that was soooo tender you couldn't even carve it - just rip it apart with forks) and dinner a chicken breast with a creamy mushroomy sauce and green cabbage. Possibly french beans too. At least I've not gone down the tiger bread route and I've got no potatoes in as that is a danger for me. I can "do a Nigella" and eat a bucket full of mashed potatoes when I'm in a comfort food mood.

Ah well. Best get on. Good luck today everyone, Hapy Birthday Gaye (I was 38 the week before last) so I'm nearer 50 than 21!
