  • jordy, you are vindicated on what you said earlier about linseeds. This snippet is from a Daily Telegraph article in 2007 :

"They are a good cure for constipation, but avoid eating the seeds if you have bowel problems, such as diverticulitis."

Serena, it also mentions that you should soak them in water before sprinkling on yoghurts etc :

"A good way to get the best from them is to soak them first. Put one heaped desertspoonful of seeds into a glass, cover with water and leave overnight. Add the swollen seeds and water to a drink such as fruit juice or a smoothie, or to your cereal or yogurt, or drink it on its own. You can eat linseeds in this way every day."

Oh thanks so much people, all really helpful info/advice. I grind the linseeds and then put on yog. I always used to eat mainly vegetarian for purely taste reasons but at the moment I can tolerate meat so am going for that more. Will probably revert back at a later date but then this is when I eat loads of pasta, rice & grains so would have to be real careful. I'm not really keen on tofu or quorn and much prefer beans. lol

Got a bit carried away last night while watching the Apprentice and ate some vegetable fingers (bet you didn't know what veggies had fingers, eh?!) which have some kind of breadcrumbs on the outside. Its that S'Alan, he made me do it! Feeling a bit guilty now.

Not really eating well today. Had some bran (twas needed) and an apple -not needed but ran out of fruit. We're on a budget and I can't go shopping til tomorrow. Am popping out to my folks in a mo coz they've just been shopping, in the plan to steal their fruit!!

I'm growing strawberries in the garden, so if the slugs don't eat them all I should have some nice free berries soon. Growing raspberries too but no sign of anything this year.

  • I have a lot of problems with snails in the gardens, so I make a snail trap which would also work for slugs. I cut off the bottom of a plastic bottle, about 2" high, and fill it with slug pellets. This is then pushed into the ground and covered with a roof tile (I admit that my rounded clay tiles are ideal but you could also use 1/2 a plastic pipe or construct something with bricks and slates). I don't know if they are attracted by the bait or the shade but there are always plenty of them in there. The plastic bottle keeps the pellets from getting wet (as well as the 'roof'). It also keeps little fingers and birds away.

I dont think i'll weigh for a while

Had a lovely day, my poor knees are aching tho from all the walking.
I paid for 6 hrs parking and still ended up hurrying back to the car before my ticket expired
Could've done with another 2 hrs.

Only bought t-shirts and a few bits and bobs.

Had a lovely meal in the sun at a pavement cafe, i tried to be good and had salad as a starter and baked trout as main but it came with a jkt potato and a basket full of french bread :o i also had three lagers.

We dont get to do it very often so i'm not going to worry about it, in fact, i would be happy being strict all week if i could get to do that every couple of weeks icon7.gif

I may try to be induction strict for a week or so to make up for it ;) totm in a few days and i hope i haven't put much on. *sigh*

Feeling really miserable. My other cat was run over today. I was looking for him then got a phonecall from the vet to say he had been brought in and was dead on arrival from a head injury. I live in a little quite cul de sac in Dorset for goodness sake! I can't stop crying. Shoved some chips in my mouth, completely comfort eating, so feel sick and fed up now.
I won't go food crazy though, just needed to get it out of my system. Will stick to the diet but you may not hear from me for a couple of days til I have got over it a bit. Feel like the kiss of death.

The first Law of Thermodynamics in real life I don't think I've posted this link to JUNKFOOD SCIENCE before but it's useful ammunition to have available when people quote the first low of Thermodynamics at you.
Calories in must equal calories out.

As you all know I've not counted calories at any point and I always eat till I'm full. So my weight loss and failure to regain is due to the type of calories I consume and not the quantity of calories. (though I will concede that some people may find too much protein causes problems so may need counting)
