  • The varnishing is still on-going. Managed 2 coats each side on the rubbing strakes which I think brings it up to 6 coats each side (minimum amount) so will go for another couple of coats today and try to get a couple of coats on the toe rail too. Well, it keeps me out of trouble. Must start now coz I want to get ahead before it gets too hot.

Mazzers, I'm sure you fancy sweet things less, the less you eat them. And this is a self-confessed chocaholic and sweet tooth person talking now! I'm sure sugar is addictive and needs avoiding as much as possible to avoid one being 'sucked in'.
Vegetarian. Have cut out all high carb food. Not following any particular plan.Started 20/1/2009. Weight lost so far 29lbs. Target weight loss 38lb in total.

Serena, i'm no expert, but it depends if you are doing atkins or Dr D's or just general low carb.

I started on atkins induction (which gears you up for better weight loss, i believe) and am now just keeping carbs really low, ( except when i'm off track) its surprising how quickly it bcomes second nature to you.

Nuts are not that lc, and yogurt has to be full fat, lidl do a great big tub of greek yogurt which is lush.

I usually snack on cheese, pork scratchings, sliced meat with cream cheese spread on it and rolled up, pepperami or boiled eggs.

The best bit of advice is get food prepared so that if you get hungry you can grab something quick, like mercy's fudge ( quiche really)
Try to get a meal cooked for when you come home hungry or you'll be grabbing the bread.
The lasagne can be prepared early or the butter chicken (curry) or the moussaka amongst others, and can quickly be reheated.
Also make some of the lovely desserts, get some sugar free jelly made up, its fab with some berries and cream.
Good luck, stick with it, first two days are the hardest for me, after that, i dont get very hungry.

Its easier after a few days when you have no carbs lurking in you bloodstream.

I use that full fat yogurt from Lidl, it;s much nicer than the Fage stuff.
Gaye - I;m sure you're right about sweet stuff, I feel like my craving is satisfied by the berries and yoghurt, and even apples taste really sweet now, but my daughter made some fairy cakes yesterday and desperately wanted me to have some (guilt) I had a few crumbs of hers and had to ask if she had put the right amount of sugar in, for my taste it could have had half as much and still been sweet, but they tasted just right to the carb eaters in our house.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

    Good morning all :hello:

Hiya Gaye, that 1st post looked fine to me. Enjoy your varnishing, I don't think I would mind doing that where you are, would hate doing it here though, horrible job!!

Good luck serena, your menu looks ok to me, although take it easy on the nuts. Hadn't heard about the possible problem with whole linseeds as mentioned by jordy?? Will need to look into that as I have seen them recommended as a sprinkling over cereal/yoghurt etc, as you have done. Another nibbly snack you could have is cubes of cheese, babybels etc. I made HM coleslaw yesterday (for the 1st time in ages) and it was lush!! Hopefully you made yours with full-fat mayo?? Also, I'm assuming you are a veggie because of the tofu sausages??

mazzers, are you all set for your retail therapy day?? Have a good day :D

jordy, I used to be a 'fat lass on a bike', lol!! Well, I still would be if I went out on it, but haven't been for a bike ride for ages :o How did you get on with your weigh-in last night??

Off to have a lovely soak in the bath now.

I can't find anything to support my comments on whole Linseed being a problem. I've obviously dreamt it please discard.:confused:

New fat is needed to clear old fat from body By Jim Dryden Where fat comes from determines whether the body can metabolize it effectively. Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have found that the "old" fat stored in the body's peripheral tissues — that is, around the belly, thighs or bottom — can't be burned efficiently unless "new" fat is eaten in the diet or made in the liver. I don't know why this has just resurfaced on another forum I visit but I think it's worth reading the whole article at the link above.
Certainly makes you wonder why we are still "officially" being told to eat less fat bur explains why actually eating less fat means we store more.

Actually jordy, i think i've read that you dont get the benefits of linseeds unless they are ground up as otherwise they are not absorbed.

Sweet i assumed serena was veggie til i saw 'ham salad' on the menu :D

I am ready for a bit of a spend, not much tho, i'm saving for a holiday.

Btw, i have cleared a space in my bedroom for my cross trainer, its in the spare bedroom at the mo and its a case of out of sight out of mind so hopefully with it straring me in the face i will actually start using it :D

Focus, its called Eridanous greek style yogurt, its in a small bucket (small for a bucket but huge for yogurt ) with a handle and its got ancient greek ladies on the lid, you cant miss it ;) cant remember how much but £1.29 rings a bell.

Ted, i will def be giving that link a read later.

Right i'm away, see you later.
