does anyone have any nice recipes for rhubarb?

I suppose rhubarb crumble is the obvious one (ground almonds, butter & splenda for the crumble bit)??
Stewed rhubarb with cream or greek yoghurt??
    Rhubarb cheesecake??

    Shame about the scales btw.

Am off to the boat tomorrow and won't be back until September
Wow, have a fab time Gaye!!
I will have internet access at times but not constantly, so I hope I'll be able to keep in touch.
    Hope so too.
I'm taking my scales with me. I'm not sure whether they'll work on a boat, but there's only one way to find out! I don't think I could bear to not know what my weight was doing for 4 months!

Now that bit made me laugh!! You slave to the scales woman, you!! :rotfl: Btw, can't imagine scales would work on a boat, but, as you say, there's only one way to find out, lol!!

OK, well after about three weeks off the LC (and not really on the French diet due to lack of time and lack of kitchen), I've eaten an abundance of cupcakes (both chocolate and lemon), half a tub of dairy-free icecream, bread or pastry almost daily and wine even more frequently - even some beer and cocktails inbetween.

After 3 weeks, I stepped on the scales.

    10st13. Exactly the same.

    What's the point???
That's exactly what happened to me. First three weeks of May I didn't stick to my plan. Ate quite a few pizzas and curries, including 2 nan breads. Had a couple of pints of beer at the beer festival, stumbled into the Co-op tipsy, bought and ate 2 large swiss rolls with squirty cream :o Other food includes some cupcakes, a danish pastry, a tortilla wrap, malteasers. Got on the scales expecting to see a big gain - same weight to the pound!

It actually makes me want to stick to the plan more, see how much I could lose if I followed it perfectly.
  • I'm also gonna take my blender and coffee grinder coz I can't imagine doing without them. Now, if only I could fit in the washing machine and dishwasher..............
Vegetarian. Have cut out all high carb food. Not following any particular plan.Started 20/1/2009. Weight lost so far 29lbs. Target weight loss 38lb in total.

Aw, poor mazzers, hope you are feeling a bit perkier now??

Does make you wonder if it's your 'reaction' to having too many bad carbs yesterday. Not worth it, eh?? :(

I am a bit perkier thanks, but have got some more 'plooks' in odd places again, def the carbs then, tis the third time its happened.

I havent been taking my supplements, this is what usually happens with me, good at first, then it fizzles out. :o

Badger, i think its because you have a hectic lifestyle you are burning off any surplus cals, maybe you need to eat more when you are being good, it always seems like you dont eat much to me.

Focus, i know its a bit late to answer now but i am a good few lbs heavier the week or so before totm but it goes as soon as i get it.

    Guns, welcome.
Sweet said it all really, well almost, you could also boil some eggs ready to grab or you could make the bread i've been making, and have some toast and lc jam.
You will need some gluten flour tho.
Here is the link, i make the hand made loaf and is really quick and easy and great results.
My third loaf is the best ever.

The 'bread' looks good, i have a breadmaker so i'll give it a go.

Mine looks just like the pic.
Tastes like real bread too, and stays really fresh.
I have a breadmaker but have never had great success with it myself, and it sounded more complicated than the hand one

    Morning all :hello:

Tis a beautiful day here :D Hope it's lovely where you are.

Supposed to be going to Scarborough for the day today but I'm still feeling blocked up (in the nose, not the other bit, lol!!) so don't really feel like going :( Still don't know if it's a cold or hay-fever but I'm thinking hay-fever as my nose is ticklish. Going to have a shower & hopefully that will refresh me.

mazzers, did you ever start your weekly budget?? How is it going?? I haven't started mine yet as the kids are off school & we are doing days out etc this week. Definitely need to start doing it next week though, money isn't stretching very far these days.

Have a good day everyone

    Mornin' Icers!

Lovely sunny day. The washing is out on the line, the cats are outside and not tearing about the house and I feel good! Definatley see a change in my face -hamster cheeks are less in evidence. Mum said my tum is smaller. Yippee!
Made a massive lc quiche yesterday (cutting my finger in the process -is blood LC?) and OH ate it all, along with the tray of stuffed peppers. Bah! I ended up eating a load of nectarines as there was not much left in the house, but at least the morning constitution was much easier! I'm eating loads of fibre but still no joy. What was it that you guys ate and it made you rush to the loo? I'll try anything!!
Hope your nose gets better soon Sweet. My hayfever started a couple of days ago so you may be allergic to the same stuff as me. Its probably not a good idea for me to have planted a flower garden then? Ho hum.

Hope all icers have a good day.

Thankyou all for replying to my questions. I went out and found organic coconut oil but it isn't liquid in the jar, like Sean''s on the video, so is it the right stuff. I looked in H&B where there was a big tub forn£9.99 but it wasn't organic so went to a small place - very lentils and sandal lol.

I have put a teaspoon in my coffee this morning and I could easily drink it like that, so how many teaspoons a day would I need? Sorry to be a pain - I have ordered some books but am eager to start asap.

Also, am I right in thinking that I now sling out all the low fat marg, cheese, mayo and skimmed milk? Do I replace with full fat everything? I am feeling a bit out of my comfort zone having been eating a high fibre, low fat diet for so long.

    thanks in advance
    Jane
