  • Ep007, have you had a look at the links in page 1 of this thread?? Might be worth a look & there are loads of recipes in there. I'm not following any particular plan, but it's loosely based on The Idiot Proof Diet (great book & would recommend), Atkins etc. Good luck if you decide to go for it :)

betterlife, sounds like day one went well for you :) How do you feel today??

ali, I've never heard of exante, what does it consist of, if you don't mind me asking??

I had tired legs this morning, but I've had my breakfast & feel fine now.

    B - garlic sausage/cheese slices/lettuce 'sandwich', leftover cauli/cabbage mash with grated cheese
    L - M&S mushroom soup (300g), 2 buttered crispbreads with cheese
D - *chicken, cauliflower & broccoli, garlic mushrooms

*I have green pesto, mozzarella & cream cheese so am going to play around with recipes from Mercy's list.

Drinks will be decaf coffee, water (plain & sparkling) & unsweetened almond milk.

I'm off out for a brisk walk now.

Hi, it is like lighterlife and Cambridge but much cheaper and you don't need to have GP approval and regular blood pressure tests etc http://www.exantediet.com/home.dept?affil=thgppc&gclid=CKOatNzAsrwCFQkFwwodEloArg

There is a wide variety of packs and bars and they taste nice which is a bonus.

I tend to have a shake for breakfast and a meal replacement bar for lunch then a low carb meal so I still feel like I am eating proper food but without much leeway during the day to cheat.

If you low carb the eating less comes naturally.

Don't try and reduce amount right now, stick to your carb limits and eat when you are hungry. Within a few days you should find you are naturally eating less without having to try.

sweet - well done on the weight loss :T

If this is your first week and you are not having caffeine as well then prepare for withdrawal - headaches, flu like symptoms. All normal but will probably kick in day 3 - 5. Keep litre bottles of water nearby and try to drink at least 3 if you can. It does help.

Ep007 - you need extra fat to replace the carbs to keep things running smoothly. Low carb count and enough protein. I tend to have around 70 - 80g protein a day and the fat comes from cheese, cream, yogurt, mayo, avocado etc.

I went completely off the rails yesterday and has 2 shortbread biscuits and a piece of lemon cake  I enjoyed them at the time but my stomach didn't and played up. Serves me right ;)

    Today is better

breakfast: 1 crispbread with gouda cheese, low sugar jelly with 2 tbsp greek yogurt and 1/2 tbsp flax mixture

lunch - out with a friend. Carvery of gammon and lamb with leeks, broccoli, red cabbage, small amount carrot and 2 small pieces parsnip

dinner: chicken with ratatouille (tomato, onion, courgette) + cauliflower mash

    treat - 10g 85% chocolate

I made a really nice soup recently and will share it with you

    2 bunches (300g) asparagus (chopped)
    3 knobs frozen spinach
    half an onion
    Chicken stock (or vegetable)
    Salt & pepper
    Olive oil

Fry chopped onion in oil until pale. Add asparagus and cook for 5 minutes. Pour in stock to cover or use 2 cubes / 1tbsp + water. Add spinach and cook for 5 mins. Season and then liquidise .

Makes round 3 good size bowls

N.B. If you cook / roast meat or chicken on the bone then keep the bones and boil them with washed veg peelings ( not potato) to make stock . Helps to replace calcium.

You need extra water to flush the toxins out and prevent constipation. Try sparkling with a slice of lemon but you must drink it or you will feel awful. We should all be drinking at least 2 litres a day normally and coffee dehydrates and can stall weight loss. Do you like fruit or herb teas?

    http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/water.html

It also needs planning if you are not a water drinker. I have a a glass of water beside my bed and drink what is left when I wake up. I then have another at breakfast, one at my desk etc.

You will not feel hungry as fat is filling.

schoolhouse - see you lurking - how is it going?

Hi everyone. I haven't been sticking to this because i've been ill recently and frankly couldn't be bothered!

It is definitely time to begin doing this properly and I am going to weigh in on Mondays. I have probably only lost 1 stone 2 pounds in total now and January has slipped away very quickly and I need to get a grip. Lots to achieve this year and this is top of my list.

    My menu for tomorrow:

    B: Cheese
L: 2x Pastrami and salad low carb pittas
    D: 4x Quorn sausages, 3 eggs, 20g tomato ketchup
    S: 50g Toasted flaked almonds
    D: 50 calories and 5g carbs

    Total: 1607 kcals, 108.8g protein, 50g carbs

I still have some higher carb food in the flat so you might see some odd combinations over the next couple of weeks :D
  • evening :) well this afternoon has been better, managed to shift the headache, tea was: rump steak (practically half a cow lol) hm salsa (just tomato/red onion/yellow pepper,) all finely chopped, kids had this for tea with tortillas and grated cheese, so i just had the bit that was left, and some garlic mushrooms, was lovely and very filling! if im hungry later will have some jelly fraiche. i will be glad when this becomes more of a habit, as fed up of thinking of what to eat for my next meal! i no planning is key at this stage but i do stuggle with idea`s, everything seems better if i where to have it with potatoes or a fresh crusty bread roll lol (must stop thinking of carbs!!)
was wondering how long you guys have been on the low carb diet? and how much you have lost so far?
JAMESCR good luck with starting again, glad your feeling better :)
