This recipe looks delicious! The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Is there such as thing as a cheeseaholic??
That's a lotta cheese, G&B!!
Thanks for the hot sauce link, I definitely want to try it so will have a look next week.0 -
Forgot to have a walk yesterday so have done double this morning - in my wellies in the pouring rain
B - 2 babybels, egg mayo
L - 2 buttered GG crispbreads with cheese, ham & lettuce roll-ups
D - chicken/mush/bacon (M&S), green mash, cheesy leeks
I'm getting a bit lazy with the M&S ready meals0 -
Another 3lbs off
I went for another walk yesterday afternoon & even climbed up a smallish bank (which nearly killed me off!!). I do love walking, but it's making my hips ache during the night & it keeps waking me up
Not sure what to do about that. Maybe start taking cod liver oil again??
B - 2 babybels, leftover green mash
L - 2 buttered GG crispbreads with cheese, ham & lettuce roll-ups
D - HM chicken (quelle surprise, but at least it's not M&S!!) fajita or curry with green veg
Cold & frosty morning but the sun is shining so I'm off out for a walk around the block.0 -
Great loss Sweet!
Just finishing my dinner, wasn't crazy hungry so just had an omelette. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Thank you, I think the walking is helping
Feeling a bit bleurgh this morningSomething is bothering me & I can't stop thinking about it
I've had my hair cut this morning & it doesn't look any different
My hips are still aching during the night
Can't do anything about the first thing (except feel sorry for myself & be sad), can't do much about the second thing either (my hair feels in better condition I suppose) & the third thing I've tried to address by starting to take cod liver oil capsules & I've worn proper walking boots for my walk today instead of the usual fashion boots to see if that helps.
B - 2 babybels, 3 x bacon, 1 x fried egg
L - 2 buttered GG crispbreads with cheese, tuna mayo & lettuce
D - HM chicken curry, green mash
Lots of water
Pub tonight so will have a [STRIKE]large[/STRIKE] glass of dry white wine.
Oh, and another thing, my face looked really dry in the hairdresser's mirrorI've always had dry'ish skin but I definitely need to get myself some decent moisturiser.
Apologies for the whinging post0 -
I wouldn't mind joining this thread if that's ok? I just need to use up some high carb food but then I will start low carb. I have done Atkins before and lost 7 stone but then lost my job, went back to my old ways and regained 8.5 stone...
I have lost somewhere between 1.5 and 2 stone of that 8.5 and will hopefully get a big chunk of this year.0 -
Very happy to have you here, James. Check out page one of this thread for links to lots of information/recipes, although it sounds like you already know your stuff.
Feeling a bit better today. I had a [STRIKE]large[/STRIKE] glass of wine last night in the pub & I really enjoyed it. Also had a small handful of salted peanuts as a bit of a treat.
B - Bacon & egg
L - 2 buttered GG crispbreads with cheese. Ham & lettuce roll-ups
D - chicken (what else?!), green mash, cheesy leeks
Lots of water
Might do a beach walk today as I need some shopping & it saves on paying for parking0 -
Feeling rough this morning
I think I ate too little & did too much yesterday. The gap between breakfast & lunch was too long.
B - 2 babybels. Egg mayo with butter added
L - 2 buttered GG crispbreads with cheese. Cold meat & lettuce wraps
D - not sure yet (probably chicken something) with green mash/puree (cauliflower & curly kale) & garlic mushrooms
I think I need to snack more today as I want to do another beach walk this afternoon, took me 30 minutes of brisk walking yesterday (on an empty stomach) & I was shattered afterwards.
Bought some unsweetened almond milk yesterday as it's really low carb. Bit of an odd taste drinking it on it's own but I'll get used to it. Would be good for protein shakes though.0 -

Thank you
Can't wait to get back into low carb.I will be starting Monday. I hope to be at 1 stone 9 pounds lost by Monday. I hadn't lost quite as much as I thought I had. Last time I ate approx 2000 calories a day on Atkins and the weight fell off. This time i'm hoping for nearer 1500 while making sure I get 100g protein a day minimum. I think I might need to embrace the money saving aspect of low carb and switch to Aldi for bacon, eggs, cashews, butter, cheese and possibly chicken breast as well.
I used to be militant 20g of carbs per day and if I went over by 10-15g on the odd occasion it used to make me completely irrational for a day or two. I believed the insulin theory and what Taubes, Eades and Atkins were saying. I don't believe insulin is the culprit any longer* but i'm back on low carb from Monday because I find it easier to stick to and in all honesty, there was a tv show the other night where one guy was left with loose skin and that scared the hell out of me. I never noticed any loose skin last time so i'm going with the tried and tested this time.
*I'm happy to discuss the reasons for this if anyone cares. I used to be one of the most extreme low carbers out there when it came to the insulin theory. If anyone here believes insulin is responsible and that Taubes etc are correct - i'm not saying you are wrong. I just had to change my mind when I was confronted with evidence against the theory and I could well be wrong now.
Anyway, i'm going to shut up now. Thanks for having me. I'm going to go back and get as many ideas from this thread as possible and look forward to getting started. :beer:0
