Hiya franby, Mercy & Artytarty
franby, I've had bad reactions to LCing in the past tooWill see how I go this time.
Btw, I'm heavier than my hubby
Mercy, good to see you're still around
Artytarty, I don't see why you can't post here, it's fine by me & it will be interesting to see how you get on.
I was successful at SW a couple of years ago. I liked some parts of the plan, but hated the low-fat (high sugar) mentality.
I don't know if you saw the Sunday Times Style magazine this week?? They have an article about cutting out sugar, it continues next week. There's also books on the subject that you can get from the library/Amazon.
Just had 3 GG crispbreads with salmon & spring onion mayo for lunch. Plenty of water will be on the menu this afternoon!!I need to somehow incorporate green leafy stuff on a lunchtime
Actually, I might make some green soup. I have leeks, cabbage (leafy), spinach (is that classed as leafy??), sprouts (are they leafy??)
I'll keep the windows open!! :rotfl:

Yes I did indeed read the Sunday times article. It seems that sugar is in for a major image bashing from now on in. I'm just glad I don't have shares in the stuff!
I am committed to giving this a try but I know I won't eliminate it completely . I used to eat a lot of sweets, more than chocolate and biscuits and cake too, but it also love savoury nibbles!
Breakfast today was a bowl of porridge and a half teaspoon of the evils.
Lunch was a small bowl of home made tomato soup and half a wrap with feta avocado and bettroot. I know it's sweet but it needs to be finished up.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
I've done a lot of SW in the past and always avoided the 'red days'.
But now I can see that they are the nearest to a low carb way of eating.
Anyway, I spent years only following 'green days' and paying SW ££ while I stuffed myself with as much pasta and noodles as I could eat under the impression I was dieting! I lost the odd pound but probably because I wasn't eating sweets/bread etc. Thinking about this now makes me want to weep!
I wonder if SW realised that the low carb plan was going to become a harder sell so had to produce a carby version of the plan.
LC is a more challenging way to eat but from what I've read I'm sure it's worth it and I'm sure it's nearer to what suits our bodies.
I had a cheese omlette for dinner (need to get some chickens!) with salad and I'm having curry and green beans for tea. Have got a slight headache though!
Hope everybody had a good day.August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
I'm officially back on the wagon on Monday. I will be following low carb high fat plan. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

High time I joined this thread. Previous attempts to low carb have been a bit half-hearted. My new version will involve cutting out sweets, and limiting myself to a moderate amount of complex carbohydrate - either 2 slices of bread or GU-ramekin size amount of cooked rice a day. Fruit, veg, soup, curry, cheese, natural yoghurt, butter and cream will be freely eaten but tbh I'm unlikely to go nuts on any of the above.
I haven't eaten cereal for over 6 months and don't miss it. This from a girl who could have it 3 times a day as a student (cheap and filling, and yet I thought it was healthy).

Gotta agree about the slimming world thing, I have been dieting for years with them. I would lose to start with and eventually maintain then slowly start to gain. It was so frustrating as I was following the plan, eating loads of fruit and veg and meat and rice and pasta! I wonder why I didn't lose?.
I was terrified of trying the low carb high fat thing (especially the high fat) as I thought it could turn into a massive gain for me! I started losing weight straight away and have lost every week since! Including Christmas week! Lost another 2 pounds this week.
My GP isn't happy about what I am eating but even he can't deny my blood pressure and blood sugars are both down! When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!0 -
Bowl of rice crispies for breakfast, not a great start to the day, but they are finished now and won't be replaced.
Lunch is Hmm carrot and coriander soup and half a feta and beetroot wrap.
Dinner will be HK spag Bol, not too much pasta. I used to wolf it down. When it's finished I will try whole grain but I don't think I like it!
Last of a bottle of wine for me this evening then it's no booze for a month.
In the store cupboard I have one Terry's choc orange and two boxes of chocolate mints, plus one box of Lindt chocs. I don't care for them much but the Terry's will be a challenge!Norn Iron Club member 4730
