    Hi everyone

Good to hear from you daska and durham_mim

Well my weight has also been going up rather than down and that is due to picking instead of working out proper meals. Time to knuckle back down I think ;) It has been difficult as eating very low carb has been affecting my thyroid levels and I was always cold but eating more has brought the level back to normal and I am warm again. Can anyone explain this?

Interesting about the gluten as I think that I am intolerant anyway so worth looking into.

Thanks for the bread recipe, I will give it a go

Keep up the good work everyone

With the best will in the world - you aint gonna get an LC Mince pie :rotfl:

What you could do though is use almond pastry and read all the jars so you use the 'best' mincemeat for the cause. It's always gonna be a high one for carbs but if you wish you could try to get round it pastry-wise.

Google may have some better help :o

    I don't like em but when I did - I wanted a good one :)

Do let us know if you find a good recipe! :j

I have weighed myself this morning and am extremely pleased to report I have lost 3lb and am now in the next stone :j Xst 13lb sounds so much better! This was my first short-term goal and at times it seemed impossible to achieve. I just have to make sure it doesn't go to my head and I end up putting it back on by celebrating. I am going for a meal on Tuesday night but that shouldn't pose a problem as its an Indian restaurant.

I was hoping to be just 'overweight' and not 'obese' on the BMI scale but I'm not quite there yet, have to go down one more point to achieve that.

  • I have been under the Weight Management Team at my local hospital for 2 years. I have managed to lose about 2-3 stone by 'dieting'. I was referred to the surgeon for assessment for bypass surgery.

I knew that it would be 9 months to a year before I might possibly have the surgery, so I decided to make one last serious attempt at sorting out my weight problem myself.

I researched various options, and in March I went full out for the Atkins type approach.

I am so very happy to say that I have now lost 7.5 stone, gone down from a size 24, to a 14, have about 10lbs to go until am in 'healthy' BMI. I have never felt so well and happy. The depression I have suffered for years has lifted. I have energy galore, and am able to work on 'stuff' in my life that I have neglected due to my low mood.

I am a totally new person, and a great deal of credit goes to banishing my previous tormentor, 'carbs' I now dont like them, dont want them, nor need them!

This way of life may not suit everyone, but boy it certainly suits me! :j

Wow, Liberty Well Done!:T That is a truly inspiring story and gives hope to us all. Have you had any feed back from the hospital regarding your success?

When I went to the dietitian a couple of months ago, I was expecting her to be disapproving of the low carb diet. But she said that new research has shown that genetically some people are more suited to it.
I am seeing the clinical psychologist in Jan, she wanted us to check in and see how I fared after the Christmas period. Maybe she was concerned that I would fall off the wagon with the temptations of the season! Fat chance of that! LOL  :)

    Great story, thanks for sharing!

Any chance of a rough idea of what you eat in a typical day?

That is a great loss Liberty and it just shows you that with the right plan for you it is possible to lose so much weight. I am convinced that low carb is the plan for me, for some reason I just can't stick to it. I am too weak and give in to carbs. Any useful tips gratefully received.
