Liberty thank you for sharing your story, it really is inspirational. I agree that low carb only suits some people, it isn't for everybody and as we all say it is a lifestyle change because the moment you start eating carbs again......well it isn't pleasant is it!

MumofTwo You need loads of willpower for the first 3-5 days, then it is plain sailing as hunger pangs are a thing of the past! My top tips include removing all contraband from the house, you don't need temptation getting in your way. Also meal plan everything including snacks. Read the official Atkins book if you get the chance as that helped me plan my diet and answered lots of questions.

    Hello

    Is there anybody out there?!

I'm just getting ready to start this year's campaign. I was going to walk downtown and weigh myself but it was chucking down this morning. So it'll be Monday now.

I've got my notebook ready and I'm going to go as low carb as I can without it getting too expensive or inconvenient. I'd love to just go the whole hog with the atkins induction - perhaps I'll do that in a couple of weeks - needs planning.

Hope people haven't got disillusioned - Christmas is Christmas - just start again!

Hello, I am here! If you can't get weighed perhaps measure your waist? That should show if you are losing? I am new here, have been doing low carb for the first time, so far have lost 25 lbs in 7 weeks

retiredlady - very well done on your weight loss so far!

So...I went and weighed myself this morning.

    I remember that after I had DD1 I joined SW and weighed in at 14st 5lbs - the highest I can remember being non-pregnant. Today I weigh 14st 3lbs.

DD1 will be 18....not months, YEARS old in April. So in 17+ years I have lost a net 2 lbs.

To add insult to injury, OH weighed himself as well and weighs 14st 7lbs! And he was wearing a fleece!

I am hoping that this little horror story will be the kick up the *** that I need. I'm going to be 50 later this year so I think this is the year to do it!

    Time to get serious....

  • Do I or don't I?? That is the question :o

I've been wondering whether to start LCing again :o

I've got the old IPD book out (just need to dust the cobwebs off) & would need to do a LC-friendly shop.

    Decisions, decisions...
  • Decided to go for it, although feeling a little queasy already after having piggies in blankets for brekkie that weren't quite as well-cooked as I would have liked. Oops, not a great start :o

I've been to Ald1 this morning & bought a few things, including 2 huuuuuuuuge cauliflowers for 49p each :D Also took advantage of their offers & got 39p savoy cabbage, spring onions & little gem lettuces. The leeks were on offer (pack of 4 for 69p) so I got 2 of them as well. Cheesy leeks, here I come!! :rotfl:

I need to get myself to Holland & Barrett to stock up on the vitamins recommended by the IPD book. Hope they're on offer or I'll need to take out a bank loan!!

Right, off for a 20 minute walk, start as I mean to go on.
  • Hiya Mercy :hello:

Cheese & mushroom omelette for brekkie this morning as I couldn't face the piggies in blankets I made yesterday. Hubby will dispose of them for me ;)

Have a headache this morning ~ probably sugar withdrawal symptoms already :o

It's pouring with rain here today :( Will see if it brightens up so I can go for my 20 minute walk. If not, I'll have to wear galoshes!! :rotfl:

    Feeling positive :D

    Afternoon

I've got back into this more easily than I thought..so far.

Also had a cheese omlette this morning - 3 eggs though, bit decadent.

A couple of times last year I went low carb quite quickly and was really ill - headache, throwing up ill. It was really nasty but hasn't happened this time thank goodness. Just a bit of rattiness! Just shows us what we're up against with sugar - it's a properly addictive substance.

Dinner will be a stir fry with a few cubes of cheddar stirred in. Bit strange I know but I did it yesterday, it's using up some frozen veg and its...ok.

I definitely feel better already - not going to weigh for a couple of weeks - give it a chance!

    Glad it's starting well!

I can't do very low carb anymore but am reducing my carbs somewhat for the next forever :rotfl:

Big love to all low carbers!

You don't have any control over what life throws at you.
You DO have control over how you react :)

    Hello weight loss winners!
May I ask if this an Atkins thread or if low carbine covers low sugar diets too?
I am starting to cut out as much sugar as I can , added and in hidden form. So far I have lost 1/2. A pound! Yes, less than one pound but it's only been a few days.
I lost one stone and a quarter eighteen months ago on SW diet, which was easy and pleasant enough, but I put it all back on.
This time I will eat cleaner food, full fat when needed, but low sugar.
Should I be posting somewhere else for this?
    Thanks.
