I think it should be fine. Might be a bit more 'cakey'. Maybe reduce baking powder slightly?
Sheila - I've never tried it in the oven so have no idea of times / temp etc. I can't see why it wouldn't be fine though.

Hi all,
Erm...bit of a funny one, but bear with me. I’ve been working towards low-card, paleo type eating to help with various digestive problems, and have finally moved to a no-grain, protein/fat based diet. I've been lurking on this thread for ideas, so thank you all! Yesterday, for the first time I ate only a tiny amount of carbs but lots of lovely protein and fat. Now today i feel fine, but couldn’t shake the feeling that I was ill as i have absolutely no appetite, and usually by now i’d be snacking like mad. It took a while for me to realise that, actually, that’s how i should be feeling! It just means I’m no longer craving carbs and my blood sugar is stable, and for the first time ever, breakfast has actually filled me up exactly as it should!
Has anyone else noticed this? I can’t get over the fact that i thought i was unwell coz not feeling hungry or snacky is so unusual for me!!Debt free date: October 2006 :money:0 -
Thanks Mercy for the recipe, it sounds just right for me right now. I will give it a try today and let you know.
Thanks to everyone else for the encouragement. I came very close yesterday to jacking it all (the low carbing) in. For the last month or so I've either gained a couple of pounds or lost a couple of pounds. I seem to be stuck around this point. I have a significant birthday coming up in June and my 25th Wedding Anniversary in July. I so wanted to reach the 1.5 stone mark by then but I'm really struggling. I know I shouldn't eat things, I don't even feel hungry or crave them but I'm still eating them. Its ridiculous but I'm finding it hard to just break the mold and just stop. I've decided to have a few low carb microwave puds, Mercy's cake etc - they are a little higher in carb than I should be having but they are perfect for snacking and will make me feel better. I've decided to get some sweetener next time I go shopping too to see if that helps.Weight loss 0/2st

Not a good idea. Artificial sweeteners, including all the diet sodas and "sugar-free" products people consume, simply fool the brain into thinking you've had something sweet, whereas in reality it's not actually receiving the glucose it needs therefore will make you crave more carbs. Always better to use natural products such as honey or good old sucrose (table sugar).“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Well done you! Just wait til you try IF and find you can easily go a day between meals or even several days. Things are a bit lean at the moment (with the exception of my figure LOL) so I'm really pushing it and am on day 3 of a fat fast and feeling great.Eat food. Not too much. Hi Gillby!
Welcome to this lovely place :j
I does feel weird not to be hungry when you think you should
It's good that you are listening to your body. If it wants food it will tell you
I have been LCing for a few years and surprised myself by not being hungry at lunchtime today. I can usually guage what to eat for breakfast to be ready for lunch. Today I had - as a cheeky extra -
a slice of my fruit n nut flax bread.Well it's so nice!
Anyway, wasn't ready for lunch till a good 40 mins later than usual :rotfl: Luckily we are flexible on lunches at my place and it made the afternoon fly by :rotfl:
Low Carbing is a good way to eat. Keep listening to your body and be happy! :T
Big love

Mercy just made your fruit and nut loaf. Scaled down the recipe slightly (but not the container ) so it was a bit flat, but not bad at all
.
Thought it might be a bit too flaxy for me, so out of the 9 spoons (i used 2 eggs you see) I used 6 of the flax mix I had in the cupboard - with goji berries etc - 2 spoons of g.almonds and a spoon of oaty muesli I had knocking about. No fruit, but extra nuts, ginger and cinnamon.
Will def do us with a cuppa, spread with almond butter we think would be good. Cheers me dear :beer:0 -

Hi Low Carb people!
For the first time in ages I've been smiling all day for no real reason. That in no way reduces my simple joy. :j
As you may have realised I have cats and I think that at least 50% of my current (really quite over the top) happiness is due to them. (and their loveliness) So I wrote a poem tonight.
Intelligent stare from bright green eyes
Deepest purr and glossiest fur
Veteran feline most Devine
Sherlock is beyond compare
Muscular, bright and quite sarcastic
Chirrups and tickles, giggly purring
Ninja baby girl, fantastic
Holly, is quite sweetly stirring
Bouncing around three places at once
Happily loving, a smiley cat
It’s all new, vive la difference!
Sheldon, yes, you are all that
All my cats are low carbers and we will be tucking into salmon for breakfast tomorrow.

I'm really pleased you're really pleased
and your poem is lovely, really sums up your cats personalities. I couldn't help putting up a picture of mine, she is such a sweet little girl. (She doesn't have carbs either, just to get back on topic
)
