    Hi all!

Cucumbers are half price in Lidl this weekend! 39p!

May not rock your world but they're a good basis for a green smoothie or salad :)

Actually, Lidl (don't) haven't impressed me much lately.
I was in my local store the thursday before the hols. I bought 4 bottles of their 'Bavaria' beer as it is nice and it was the weekend :o

Anyway, I packed everything up in my bag and popped it on the packing shelf for safety then went to pay. Half way through the transaction we heard a tinkly rumble. My bag fell off the shelf.
Smash etc. 3 bottles smashed, 1 just lay there. :o:o:o:o:o

I apologised but no-one would meet my eye. I was ignored mostly and cleaned up around. The security female said I should be shot. Later adding that I should be somewhere people could throw fruit at me.

Quelle horreur! If my innate sense of fun hadn't been switched on I'd have melted with 'whatever-should-I-do-ness'

I had the full beer and some chocs taken away and was left wet n bereft.

Thinking HOLIDAYS I stood there for a few minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge me (not happening) and then bought some more beer :rotfl:

Whilst I applaud Lidl's lovely half price low carb cucumbers, I appall their customer service this time.

Got a meeting with my branch's Manager on Sat. He didn't even know anything had happened till CS phoned him Tues morn. :rotfl:

Will let you know what happens.

But do buy half price cucumbers from your local Lidl as the people there cannot be worse than the people at mine.

    !/2 cucumber
    lime juce
    parsley / coriander
    small carrot
    tomatoes
    Blend

Tasty vitamin and mineral filled snack!

Perhaps it's a worker personality thing. My local Lidl has improved a lot over the last year or so, the staff are great and it's just about on a par with Aldi now.

At present I'm getting small tomatoes, spinach, onions, mushrooms, radishes, organic carrots, bananas (For SWMBO), tinned mackerel (in tomato sauce), tinned herring (senf flavour), packets of mixed nuts and one or two other bits & bobs from Lidl.

I get roast chicken thighs, olives, grapefruit, Greek yoghurt and their Super Six veg, plus other stuff as & when from Aldi.

I've found the best sauerkraut in a local Lithuanian shop. Dearer than the Polish offering in Sainsbugs but tastier. I also splash out on pickled red cabbage from M&S too.

I usually get large free range eggs from Lidl as they just seem to be a tad bigger than Aldi's, but, this week they're 10p off in Aldi so I'm back to them. I get cucumbers from whichever's got the best price on the day.

Tomorrow for my evening meal I shall mainly be having pig's liver, broccoli, parsnip, onion & small tomatoes fried in coconut oil.

5 days and no comments. Are we all feeling a bit jaded :(

I have been very up and down and not truly staying with this 100% which is why I haven't posted. Let us hope that we get some sunshine as I think that it makes it easier all round.

How is everyone else getting on? :)

Hi Sheila, Well, I have been very strict for a week and haven't lost even a teeny tiny ounce of what I put on so yes I am feeling jaded. I suppose a bit of warmth might make salads a more tasty option. It can't be too much longer.

Same here, been eating things like digestive biscuits:o I was trying to do without chocolate/sugar altogether but I found if I do that then I end up binging on biscuits, cake & things. I have gone back to allowing myself a small amount of chocolate per day and hopefully that will keep me away from the carbs. I find eating just meat & vegetables boring and having a small piece of chocolate to look forward to each day makes it less so.

Durham mim for me a small piece turned into a whole bar so I have had to cut out chocolate again. I make various 'treats' with cocoa, coconut, ground almonds etc. and keep them in the fridge for 'emergencies'.

I'm still here, just been really busy with work and also away on a course.

Really stressful day at work yesterday, so on way home I popped into the supermarket to get some raspberries - knew I would need a treat to cheer me up as my usual willpower was wobbling :o

Away again tonight, roll on the weekend!!

It is my birthday tomorrow so I am going to make myself a low carb snack feast.

    Coconut bombs
    Raspberries in jelly
    Chocolate hazelnuts

OH is taking me for a meal out on the Friday to an Indians. What do people think would be the lowest carb to order?

Durham mim, could you make low carb cakes and treats? I know many purists don't but they really can stop you bingeing if you find a recipe that you like. Also what about finding new recipes to stop your meals being boring? I am always looking for new recipes or low carb adaptations as I can get into a rut otherwise.

One of the problems is I'm too tired to do any extra cooking/baking at the moment. I just want something that is easy to hand. I know there are low carb cake/biscuit alternatives and when I have a little more energy I will stock up on these.
