Tried a breakfast other than my usual two large egg omelette with either spinach or mushrooms this morning.

Pig kidney (41p for 170 grammes but had to cut out about 40gms of sinewy stuff), small onion, two large mushrooms and good handful of spinach, all fried in a pat of butter. I didn't rave over the smell of the kidney so added worcestershire sauce. Yummy!

Not had kidneys in a good while. Years! Remember eating them regularly 20yrs+ ago and really enjoying them. They were in supermarkets then :rotfl:

Will seek some out. Almost pure protein and nice fried up with a proper weekend breakfast :j

Thanks for that - good stuff!

Well, thanks again to everyone for all the recipes, I'm having an MSE inspired evening, my goats cheese and pecan salad (with salami and baby plum tomatoes) is on the plate, and the coconut muffins are in the oven looking good with 5 mins to go.

    Happy Days :D

I read that Turmeric is good for us so decided to try it in my breakfast omelette. Tastes fine, looks great but innit messy!?

Mornin all, :) I have to report that the coconut muffins are a big success and very yummy, very light and very like a shop bought one in texture. I added another 10g-ish of coconut as I didn't think it looked enough, used 1 tbsp of molasses sugar and some stevia, and also added a small handful of dark chocolate drops, so there would be 4-5 in each muffin. Lovely with a cup of tea.

Really enjoyed the goats cheese salad as well, the pecans are lovely toasted and go well with the soft creamy cheese.

Has anyone made the chocolate biscuits from page 1? I don't think the quantities can be right, 100g g.almonds to 35g butter? I tried them in the week and they were dry and almost powdery, not very pleasant.

Messy? Were you using powdered Turmeric?

    Hi Hun!

The muffins were good before but I've followed your lead and added more coconut. They are cooling down now so will let you know. I think the original formula worked well and kept the carbs to a bare minimum so I'd suggest anyone trying them for the first time to stick to the recipe - they are really nice :) It's also good to have a 'benchmark' to set your adjustments by :D

I've left out the butter in mine lately as I found - when I used it initially this time - that by putting them in silicone cases they were a bit greasy. Now without the butter but with more coconut. Will still be nommy :rotfl:

Part of my research is into 'improving dietary transit' so I've used a small mix with added ground flax, cocoa and sliced figs. This obviously increases the carb count. If this works and tastes good then I will post it. (I've kept a record :rotfl:)

My last experiment was without figs and was a bit savoury. Still nice. Made as a cake and went more solid and fudgy after 24hrs. YUM :)

I'm a Chemist and experimentation is second nature but I know many of us dabble in experimental cooking. My big advice is - write it all down. Print out the page, date it and write any adjustments and the results down on that page. Trust me - it's worth it :rotfl:

    Biggest tip of all time!!!!
You know the skirt / trouser hangers with grippy clips on? Use these to hold your recipe and hang it off the cupboard whilst cooking. :T

I add extra turmeric when I make a curry for that very reason ;)

I haven't lost weight again this week :( Maybe I should try the 5:2, keeping to 50g low carb on the good days.

Have a good evening everyone :)

Turmeric is good for the liver and also joints.

Turmeric is good for a lot of things. Liver, joints - as you say - also skin, arthritis, cut healing, athelete's foot and many other things :j

I have problem skin and Turmeric has helped me lots.

Many people suffer from Hydradenitis Suppurativa. This often appears as almost boils but sore hard lumps which sometimes weep.
Plooks on the inner thigh mostly, sometimes on underarms and under breasts too. Often purple/red - always painful.

This happens to many people but they don't talk about it as it's embarrassing. :o

Anyway, a flat teaspoon of Turmeric in 120ml full fat goats milk (cows could be good too)with black pepper (makes the Turmeric more effective) Twice a day for 6 months pretty much cured me of this awful thing. It can also be used topically.

Recently got the first plook in about a year. Put Turmeric on a plaster (wet the gauze first so it'l stick) once a day and went back to the twice a day remedy for 3 days - all gone. Am keeping up with the milk thing for a few weeks to make sure.

    This works.

When I've ever mentioned it to larger ladies in my group they too say they've had this in 60% of talks.

Hope this helps someone. It's changed my life for the good :j:rotfl:

    More in Turmeric news!:j

I've also cured stubborn athlete's foot.

I get my skin problems from my Dad - one of my Brothers is the same. My Mum, Sister and my other Brother are lucky in that they are much less dark and hairy and lucky in these ways - they have no real sympathy as they have no idea :p

But they don't have lashes to die for nor fantastic eyebrows :rotfl:

Athlete's foot - dry feet well, use a plaster to keep the Turmeric in touch with the affected area. Change daily. 3 days - job done. I did a further day to make sure and don't know if it was necessary.

In after care - after showering rub coconut oil between toes every time. Never came back :)
