Aw thanks, yes I am glad to be able to say that the thought of the root canal was far far worse than reality (although it did take her 30 mins to fit the plastic dam thing, my jaw nearly fell off before she even started the treatment!!). Glad to hear yours went well too. I still have another appointment after my holiday to finish it off but am far less worried now.

Think breakfast will include egg options so hopefully ok there, and I'm sure I can find nice salad lunches. It's more the evenings I guess, hopefully I can keep vaguely low carb but will have to see how it goes.

Not going to spoil the holiday worrying if I can't though as I can only do what I can do, with what food is on offer.

No chance of any room in my case I'm afraid, it is usually bang on the weight limit lol :rotfl:

Unless you could squeeze in the hand luggage??!

Is there such a thing? I just use the usual shops but don't buy the high carb stuff.

I was looking to buy some low carb pasta. Does anyone know of any of the usual high street stores, i.e asda, tesco, sainsburys that sell shirataki noodles, as I can't find any?

    Thanks

Is there such a beast? I just add fried mushrooms to the sauce and do not eat pasta at all nowadays. The only grains I eat are the very occasional rice noodles or a dish with white rice. I'm not coeliac as far as I know, although my older daughter is. I just decided to find a food regime I can live with for life and chose no bread, no cakes, no pasta, no pizza and no beer, but, goodly amounts of meat, veggies and wine. My daily treat is Aldi's 70% cocoa solid chocolate and I have wine three days a week. I just wish I could get SWMBO to have liver once a week instead of occasionally as we do now.

Not tried myself, but spaghetti squash is supposed to be a good pasta alternative.

I haven't tried it but this stuff - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eat-Water-Calorie-Pasta-Noodles/dp/B009QW4CNY - is getting quite a lot of publicity at the moment.

Reports vary as to whether it's worth it or not!

I have bought wheat gluten powder and soya protein from the low carb megastore and the service was good.
If you have a chinese supermarket anywhere near you they may have shirataki noodles also known as konyakku. Also many health food shops have brands such as 'eat water' .
I often have shredded runner beans with pasta sauce, it more or less works.

Sorry sweetie but I too have simply said goodbye to any kind of pasta. I have a wheat intolerance so that's the main reason. :D

However, whilst I cannot recommend a spaghetti or noodle type alternative, I can say that many folk on here over the years have used thinly sliced courgette as pasta sheets in lasagne (sliced length ways to make the most of the length - ykwim :)). As I am not a fan of this type of food I've not tried it but I do remember many saying it was worth it. Lots of creamy sauce and tasty mince etc.

Hope you find what you are after. :j

Do check out the recipe list - link on page 1 of this thread. It has so many Low Carb ideas that you may find enough to tide you over until your order arrives or you find a shop reasonably locally for what you want.

Big love low carber - you are in good company here :)
