Hi
I have tried coating with sesame seeds mixed with parmesan, which is nice.
murphydog - I have bought some Onken and you are right, it tastes fresh but not creamy like greek yogurt.
Mercy - well done !!!
Saw GP today - cholesterol 6.3, LDL 3.3, still bordering on hypothyroid so retest in 3 months but I will need thyroxine soon. MRI shows osteoarthritis with narrowing of discs and facet joints of L3 - S1 impinging on nerves and 2 discs rubbing a bit. I will have physio and have been prescribed medication but not sure whether to take it. I already have cervical problems but hey, I'm getting older. Just a bit low as I have been trying to be really healthy for past 21 months.
How are things durham_mim? You have it far worse, as do others.
Nite all x
Thank you Sheila, your health is just as important as mine and is just as painful. Thanks for the pm too.
With it being half term week I've had both OH(took the week off) and DS at home. We have been out more than usual and this has tired me out. My diet has been all over the place, (you will see what I mean if you read my blog). I think I am getting bored with the same old meals but I'm too tired to try or even think of anything new. I am limited in the vegetables I eat because I am trying to avoid the nightshade family. I know things like beetroot and spinach are good for you but I can't stand beetroot and I only like spinach when its been curried. I hoping once DS is back at school and OH back at work I will be able to establish a routine once again.Weight loss 0/2st

This sounds tasty, care to reveal how you put it together, what dressing? Thx v.m.0 -
Sure.
85 g lettuce
few chopped fresh herbs (I've been using basil and/or coriander)
vinaigrette (I've used either balsamic vinegar/oil, or this week I found a low carb herb vinaigrette in Asda - being lazy!)
85 g soft goat's cheese, broken into pieces
28 g pecan nuts, roughly chopped
Cover a plate with the lettuce or other leaves, scatter with herbs, drizzle with a little vinaigrette, and dot the goat's cheese over the top.
Put the pecan nuts onto a grill pan and toast under a hot grill for 1-2 minutes until they smell delicious and are lightly browned.
Remove the pecans from the heat as soon as they're ready and toss over the top of the salad.
The toasted pecans are delicious, might even start having them as the odd nibble on their own, they go quite sweet when grilled.0 -

Kitty cats
Sheldon
A happy pile of cats
Sheldon is settling in well and has grown quite a bit in the 2 weeks he's been here. He's now into the 'catch, fight and bite' and so is on a learning curveHe's pretty good as he comes when called and uses the litter every time. My only concern is that he will figure out the cat door soon so I need to keep an eye on that. He's ace. His presence has given Sherlock (16yo black) a new lease on life and he is now a good chase playmate for Holly (9mth tabby/white) Yay!

Keeping it on topic - all my cats are low carbers. :rotfl: Salmon breakfast enjoyed by all - including me. They had theirs plain, mine came with avocado and mayo. :T

Lovely photos
I wish that it would get warmer. I made broccoli and stilton soup for lunch today - again very nice.
Weigh day tomorrow so hope to lose a bit more.
I hope that everyone has a good week x0 -
I notice that sains sell this , could someone clarify how the carb count works on this? i remember reading somewhere that the sweeteners are taken off the carbs to get the net amount.

are the sweeteners classed as polyols? has anyone tried this? thanks0 -
Hi, the polyols are maltitol and lactitol, and although classed as carbohydrate/sweeteners they don't have the same effect on insulin as general sugars. So they are included within the total 36g carbs.
(If you have seen xylitol or erythritol, these are the same thing.)0 -

They also have an extreme laxative effect and other health concerns are linked with regular usage.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Can be alarming if you pig out. :rotfl:
Have you tried coco candy on the recipe list page 1? Also some folk melt dark choc with nuts / ground almonds etc.
I weaned myself off the higher carb milk chocolate slowly alongside reducing sugar in general. I now prefer dark chocolate and find a small amount enough.
Not everything happens at once.
I'd rather a good medium dark chocolate which I find rather sweet than a low carb version full of artificial sweeteners.

Hello
Made the coconut muffins (recipe list, page 1) last week.
They really need to be allowed to go cold. Much nicer. :rotfl:
Want to experiment with this recipe to make a choc version which helps with dietary transit. :rotfl:
Will post it if it works - thinking including some ground flax and cocoa powder.
The original recipe makes lovely muffins which get firm outside but stay moist on the inside. Truly yum. Thanks to whoever mentioned it recently
