I like mine baked. Butter a ramekin, slice of ham, crack an egg into it, grate a little cheese and bake in the oven, delicious :D

This sounds lovely, I am going to try it for lunch :j

  • Made those coconut bombs for the first time today. How nice are they!! :D

I didn't have any peppermint flavouring, so they weren't minty, but I added some desiccated coconut. Thankfully it only made 6 little balls, as they've all gone! :o Reminded me of coconut ice - that pink and white stuff from yesteryear.

    How cold is it today:santa2:
  • Hey everyone

Long long looooooong time MSE reader, after reading this thread decided to join!

Hope I've done this right in the right place!

OK so my situation with food/weight/low carbs....

Decided almost a year ago that really needed to change my weight. Went on a low carb and low kcal diet (very extreme) quickly lost 3 stone and have kept is off (mostly)

I'm no longer clinically obese, now just 'overweight' according to bmi, which is good..

However it's starting to creep back on so trying to low carb again, but make it more of a sustainable lifestyle change - can you guys help me please?! :o

The food I'm eating is so repetitive and I'm drinking huge amounts of diet soda drinks (which although zero kcal and zero carb can't be good for me?!)

From reading the thread it seems that peeps on here do low carb nut not necessarily low kcal with it, but I really would like to try both together

Any and all help would be so so appreciated

    Thank you!!!
  • And I have some questions if anyone has any answers, have already tried google

My downfall is I love bread, crisps pizza and more bread- when I diet I think about them loads- are there any low carb/low kcal options?

Apart from cottage cheese is there a good type of cheese?

I've been reading all about almond flour pancakes -they sound v yum- cannot find kcal info I.e. How many grams of almond flour does it take for 1 pancake?

And... These magic zero kcal, zero carb noodles.... What's the catch?!

(should have said hope you don't mind me gatecrashing btw)

    Hi sweetie!

There are lots of LC alternatives on the recipe list on page 1. Cals aren't generally listed as simply low carb eating doesn't require cal counting. The recipes do have weights or spoons so with a bit of maths and google you should be able to work it out.

Have a good mooch round and do ask questions, mostly someone can help.

You don't have any control over what life throws at you.
You DO have control over how you react :)
  • All the recipes are making me really hungry!

I really want to try using almond flour-

At the moment I'm eating chicken and veg, or lean beef and veg and it's hard to find variation

I think if I maybe flattened the chicken out and baked it with an almond crust it might reduce my cravings for processed carbs

    Has anyone tried this?

Cannot find anywhere to buy almond flour! Tried tesco online and holland and Barrett (?) it's on amazon but surely must be easier than that? Lol

Almond flour is ground almonds - available all over the place if you know the search words :)

As you are cal counting as well you may find the Dukan Diet interesting. I have done it with good results. There may be recipes out there which can help.

The recipes here are fat heavy as that's how low carbing rolls, but Dukan are low fat too. There was a thread on this forum so a search may well turn up what you are after.

My favourite chicken coating is 2 scan bran crackers whizzed up with chilli powder and onion salt. Makes great low carb bread crumbs.

    Hi all!

Having an interesting thing happening :j

I took last week off work to settle a new kitten into the house with the 2 cats I already have. We had a good time and all are thoroughly happy to share. During that week I wasn't particularly strict and actually lost 2lbs.

Going back to work this week I've found that my usual portions for breakfast and lunch have left me rather full so I've not eaten much in the evening. Over the week I've reduced the amount of food I take to work and still not been hungry.

I think that when off work I just ate when I wanted to and probably only had 2 meals a day. OK, I was less active - or was I?

This has led me to rethink my portion size - simply because I'm listening to my body again.

    Interesting stuff! :rotfl:
