Don't know why I haven't noticed this before, apologies if you know already. Onken full fat set yogurt has 1/2 the carbs of the lowest full-fat greek yogurts @ 3.6g per 100g.

How does it compare regarding protein/fat content?

I usually use Total Greek (3.8g carbs/sugar) which has 9.0g protein and 5.0g fat.

  • Well I'm glad you asked now as I've just looked on the net and it's not what it says on the pot, I will have to investigate further.......

    Hi

I have tried coating with sesame seeds mixed with parmesan, which is nice.

murphydog - I have bought some Onken and you are right, it tastes fresh but not creamy like greek yogurt.

    Mercy - well done !!!

Saw GP today - cholesterol 6.3, LDL 3.3, still bordering on hypothyroid so retest in 3 months but I will need thyroxine soon. MRI shows osteoarthritis with narrowing of discs and facet joints of L3 - S1 impinging on nerves and 2 discs rubbing a bit. I will have physio and have been prescribed medication but not sure whether to take it. I already have cervical problems but hey, I'm getting older. Just a bit low as I have been trying to be really healthy for past 21 months.

How are things durham_mim? You have it far worse, as do others.

    Nite all x

  • All the recipes are making me really hungry!

I really want to try using almond flour-

At the moment I'm eating chicken and veg, or lean beef and veg and it's hard to find variation

I think if I maybe flattened the chicken out and baked it with an almond crust it might reduce my cravings for processed carbs

    Has anyone tried this?

Cannot find anywhere to buy almond flour! Tried tesco online and holland and Barrett (?) it's on amazon but surely must be easier than that? Lol

    Xx
You can buy almond flour in any general asian/ethnic food shops, also linseeds for grinding into flax, cheaper than the health food shops, if there are none of these types of shop near you then you can simply whizz up almonds in a grinder, I am back on track again, you soon get used to the recipes.

Tried a breakfast other than my usual two large egg omelette with either spinach or mushrooms this morning.

Pig kidney (41p for 170 grammes but had to cut out about 40gms of sinewy stuff), small onion, two large mushrooms and good handful of spinach, all fried in a pat of butter. I didn't rave over the smell of the kidney so added worcestershire sauce. Yummy!

Interesting breakfast but I don't think that I could fancy kidney myself. :D

    Mercy - I like the music x

Just made asparagus soup for lunch - very nice and easy to make. Worked out at 4.5 carbs per bowl.

Better day today as I was able to walk much easier and went shopping :)

What are we all having for dinner?

for those of you who use soya protein isolate powder in your baking and bread , where do you recommend to purchase? the 900g plus tub in holland and barratt is nigh on £20 but doing a search brings up sport nutrition sites such as myprotein.com who sell soy protein isolate 1kg for 5.99. I have never tasted this before so i am worried about this, if cheap means nasty.

Not posted for a while, been struggling with toothache and on top of that some horrible virus. Can't wait to go for my root canal on Wednesday and get rid of the pain.

I have surprised myself this week. I cooked the Provencal Tian out of Celia Brooks Brown's book for the first time, which contains fennel.

I've always thought I didn't like fennel as it's aniseed type flavour which I hate (although oddly used to like aniseed balls when I was younger!).

I thought I'd be brave and try it with the fennel in, thinking I'd have to swap out for onion next time, but actually really liked it! It was a much softer flavour than I'd expected and it went really well with the dish. So I've found a new food that I like.

Also getting on well with soft goats cheese and toasted pecan salad, one of my current lunch faves. Quick and easy to make and really tasty.

Just about to tuck into the last slice of the LC bakewell tart. I'm not much of a desserts person but thought I'd try it for a bit of variation, will definitely be making again!

Interesting re the greek yoghurt discussion; I've been using full fat Total brand, didn't realise there was such variation though.

Mercy - hope your new kitten is settling in and not being too naughty! Got any pics?
