Hi,
I'm new to low carbing and have just found this thread today, I've been reading it a couple of hours and have gained lots of great information.
The last 2 years I have had a terrible diet, I had been trying so hard to pay of my credit cards, that most of my money was spent paying them off, I was living on a food budget of £10 a week, which was spent mostly on junk carbs, cheap cereal, bread, biscuits, beans, potatoes, basically anything that was cheap for a large quantity.
The good result was that I am now debt free, the bad result was that I had put on 2 stone.
About 2 months ago I paid my cards off and decided to get back in shape and healthy, eating quality food and exercising, I just did a regular low calorie diet of 1500 cals, and have done quite well losing about 10lbs, but I have stalled the last couple of weeks.
I then I read "Good Calories, bad calories" and "why we get fat, and what to do about it", and the science seems quite compelling to me, so I've decided to try a heathy low carb diet.
I'm a vegetarian, but hopefully I can find enough variety to stay with the diet. At the moment I'm not doing extreme low carb, I'm getting about 60-80g carbs a day, hopefully that will be enough, if not i will have to go lower.0 -
Hi Sinar,
I am veggie and have been eating this way for a year. I don't count carbs but when I have have been around 60 - 80g. I started doing it as a diet because my sister had lost so much weight but after losing 9 kg I have stalled all winter. This isn't a problem for me because I am nearly at my target weight and the health benefits have made me not want to go back. I recomment Rose Elliots books to get a feel for the diet and then just adapting what you ate before. bw.0 -
Hi everyone, Im on my 3rd week of low carbing and really fancy one of my favourite puddings "chocolate fondant pud with vanilla ice cream"
Does anyone know of a low carb version where i can make it or buy somewhere (online shop maybe?)
Many thanks

Can't help you with that from personal experience but murphydog was raving about mercy's mockolate danish the other day which sounds as if it might fit the bill?Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Daska is quite correct on both counts, yes I was raving about it and yes it is the closest I have come to anything remotely similar.
I'll be making it for my husband (and me) tonight as a compromise for us having a salad for dinner. It's so much colder than yesterday so salad isn't really the ideal thing, so hopefully the pud will live up to its reputation!!

Would cottage cheese work in place of cream cheese?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

For great Paleo (Primal) advice, I recommend Marksdailyapple.com
If you Google Primal or Paleo or Caveman diet you will find plenty of sites. I just follow the ones that don't preach and provide evidence for what they're saying. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

I don't see why not, all the items are blended in well, just check the consistency isn't too loose after it's all combined. Let us know how it works0 -
Thanks so much everyone especially Mercy for her yummy recipe...I shall be trying it very soon :j0
