Hi all...just made the mockolate danish but think I must have gone wrong somewhere as it was very bitter tasting...I'll try again using more sweetner or vanilla flavouring maybe.:o
Does anyone know the carb content?
Many thanks

Quiet at the moment
emmabobble - it takes a while to get used to food that is less sweet than you are used to but the time will come.
I have tried doing the 5:2 diet this week and having 500 calories on 2 days whilst low carbing at 50 carbs on the other 5. Today is my second 500 calorie day and I am finding it challenging but low carbing alone is not working for me any more when it comes to losing weight.
I know that some have tried this before and would like to know their experiences as I felt bad on the first 500 day and then better today until this evening when I am really tired?
Good to see some new facesand nice to chat with the old
ones.

Funnily enough I sat down and worked out the calories in what I ate yesterday and today and they came to about 500 quite naturally (but I know I'll be eating a lot more tomorrow and over the weekend as DS2's dad has first gig with his full new band). As this comes naturally to me I can't say I feel particularly bad when doing it but I do let my natural hunger dictate when I eat rather than doing it consciously. Maybe an element of carb flu kicking in if your levels weren't that low before hand?
P.S. The music the band plays is a cross between folk, blues and psychedelic with a touch of reggae as well as numerous other influences... yes, it's bizarre and insane but somewhat fabulous as well. (Well, good enough that he has a queue of bass players volunteering to fill in whenever the current one is unavailable LOL.) What's even better is that they seem quite happy to eat lowish carb so we have very good lunches when they're here: roast veg with cheese sauce, dhal etcEat food. Not too much. I don't actually count anything, carbs or calories. I just stick to eating low carb foods.
Today we've had eggs and gammon ham for brekkie
lunch was coconut bombs and chicken thighs
Dinner was pizza on a flax seed base
Supper will be raspberries with sugar free jelly.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -

Hi, the one I did the other day was a bit bitter to. Apart from the fact that I bought a different cocoa, I've got a feeling I put in too much and not enough cream cheese. Its probably easy to tip the balance.
If you correctly weighed everything, next time try a little less cocoa.0 -

Hi Sheila, yes it might be a struggle initially especially if you have been used to a certain way of eating for so long. It's as much getting your brain used to it, as your stomach, in that people have become used to eating at certain times because it's 'lunchtime,' or whenever, rather than when they are hungry. It's getting away from that routine.
Personally, I don't do the 500 cals thing - we just don't eat - but, and this is only my own feeling, having something small when you are hungry just sets the stomach/brain into thinking it's not enough and makes you more hungry.
If you can get over the 'breakfast' rumbly tummy without anything - just hot drinks - you will find you can last a lot longer. Do try and get out and about though - a good walk, perhaps - and keep your mind occupied - a good puzzle, perhaps, it will help. And keep an eye on your measurements.

Sorry to hear about your FIL Pink Princess.
For the last couple of months I've really been struggling. When I was ill about 3 weeks ago I just ate whatever was easiest to cook which was definately high carb stuff. It has taken me until this week to get back to strict low carbing. As a result the last few months my weight has either stayed the same or I've put on a couple of pounds. I'm pleased to report this morning I've lost 3lbs. I had reached a weight at which I had got to before on previous diets and then got stuck. It has been a great mental barrier to get over. Today I am now 1lb under so this has shown me I can get beyond that weight and has inspired me to keep going. Just have to be good again next week and keep the weight off. I've also changed from eating 85% chocolate to Dairy Free chocolate. My IBS flared up and the only thing I could think may have triggered it was the 85% chocolate. Since switching I've found the cravings for chocolate are much reduced. I think I must have been craving the milk in it rather than the chocolate itself. My goal now is to reduce the amount of Dairy Free chocolate I have as I know it is much higher in carbs.Weight loss 0/2st
