Well my delivery has not turned up so I thought I'd throw some things in the food processor.
I threw in a handful of crispy onions
2 table spoons of ground flax
50 grams of grated cheese
dried cayenne pepper
knob of butter
Whizzed to a paste and put in spoonfuls on a baking tray, baked for around 12 minutes. These are lovely and almost taste like they have meat in them somehow.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -

You are doing very well :A
Today has been chaotic to say the least, end result being that I am just getting home now and have not eaten all day :(
I have just reheated some chicken and curry sauce to throw over cauliflower. I am tired and a vodka and bed is calling. I'm sorry for the sour post just tiredLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
This has probably been discussed here before, but I can't trawl through 727 pages looking for the answer.
I'm wondering how those of you in a couple handle low-carb when you are the only one doing it? I'm planning on starting low-carb again after X-Mas, but my husband likes meals with rice and potatoes as the side dish (as do I generally, but I know the craving disappears after a couple of weeks). We would probably normally eat something like that 3 or 4 times a week. I don't fancy cooking separate meals. Do you guys just eat more of the meat/veg and skip the rice, etc? I know you can do spaghetti squash and cauliflower rice, but he won't be fooled by that. :rotfl:
Do you eat any rice/pasta/potatoes - eg. once a week in a small portion - or does that cause you to fall of the wagon?marlasinger0 -
From my point of view I've found that I just don't need carbs, especially sweet ones.
The carbs that I eat are mainly wholemeal bread, carby veg like carrots. Rice almost never, pasta very occasionally, maybe a couple of small potatoes but not every day. For instance, breakfast is usually boiled egg and slice of wholemeal toast with a scrape of marmalade.
Today, for instance, I haven't really had any carbs at all. I had 3 slices of grilled bacon and a grilled tomato, no toast. We then went to church and headed out after that to a wildlife centre. We didn't get back until 4 pm when we had poached smoked haddock followed by one small fruit yogurt. Although it was 6 hours between meals, I wasn't hungry and although that doesn't seem much in total, I'm not hungry now.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Me and my husband low carb and the kids eat low carb dinners around 3 days a week.
We just have mashed swede or cauliflower if the kids are having mash.
If they are having chips then we have sweet potato chips.
We just have a different side really. We enjoy eating as a family and low carb does not stop that.
Breakfast was a bacon and egg
Lunch was an extend bar and some coleslaw
Dinner is chicken breast in barbecue sauce, with mushrooms and spring onions. Covered in mozzerella and jalapenos then wrapped in bacon and more cheeseLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
Before I started following a low carb diet, I was already omitting gluten from my meals. I have a husband and 3 children, 2 of whom are at Uni. I usually cook something like a spaghetti bolognese, OH and DS will have spaghetti with theirs and I will have vegetables with mine. Today I made a roast dinner, OH and DS had potatoes, I just had the meat and vegetables. I did substitute mashed potato for mashed celeriac so that my plate didn't look so empty and I still had the texture of mash. So basically when the rest of the family have, rice, potatoes or pasta I just have extra veg.Weight loss 0/2st

HI Marlasinger, I am in a similar position but have found it surprisingly easy. Some meals eg. curry or stirfry I just eat without the rice, others, eg shepherds pie or patatas bravas, the whole family eat the low carb version and if we do the meat and potatoes type of meals I just make sure there is enough of a variety of veg for me. We roast veg more than we used to and so it is easy for the family to have spuds if they want them and for me to have other veg.0
