That really made me laugh :rotfl:
Believe it or not that never occurred to me, but yes I guess it is almost an omelette!!! Except that it's baked in the oven, and due to whizzing up the spinach it's so fine that you just a greenness that comes out, rather than the eggy bit with whole spinach pieces spread around iyswim.
Right so today I've had:
Breakfast: greek yoghurt with flaked almonds and flax seed
Lunch: Devilled eggs with lettuce and steamed asparagus
Dinner: About to have roasted red peppers stuffed with feta, tomato and pesto.
All you guys talking about fasting days - I know that's something I couldn't do. Even though it looks like you can still eat small amounts on the fast days, I know that I get really wobbly, and almost in a hot/cold sweat if I don't eat enough or for long periods.
So best of luck to everyone trying some form of fasting but that's one I'll have to bow out of I think. Will be interested to hear how you get on though.0 -
I think that the treatment for any problem now is exercise rather than rest
Completely agree with this. Exercise has many benefits, not just the obvious. My outlook on life has 'sunk' somewhat since I've not been doing my week-daily hour-ish exercise. Exercise lifts the spirits.
It doesn't need to be rigorous, nor something you dislike. It can be as simple as a few gentle stretches till you feel a little resistance, or a boogie round the house with the hoover to some music you like. It can be public or private, group or solo. You don't need fancy clothes or equipment, and no posing at the gym is necessary
With regard to sciatica, ... Any suggested exercises to help or release pressure on the facet joints would be useful though
I'm not in a position to advise really, not being medical or a fitness trainer or anything like that, but I personally think Yoga is wonderful. It can help with all kinds of health problems, works on core strength, balance and flexibility, which start to disappear as we get older, leading to [STRIKE]lack of[/STRIKE] stiffening of joints, lack of movement, 'hunching', etc.. I'd start with something like a gentle Hatha routine, or some restorative or Yin Yoga. The only problem with the latter two is that it's a bummer to have to get up and get on with the day afterwards
hannoja - have you forgiven me?
Of course!
Crikey........ feel like kicking OH out of the lounge and doing some of this NOW! Had a sore throat the last couple of days, and felt a bit weak, but was much better today, so hopefully tomorrow I'll finally get back to doing a bit of exercise! Managed a couple of days a couple of weeks ago, but lounge is all moved about and OH's laptop broke so can't use it to do exercises. Can't see the TV properly either from where there's space to do it... I'll just have to remember/make it up I guess...
Eep. Better go. OH called me down for masterchef over 10 mins. ago!

Hi
Breakfast today was brazil nuts
Lunch was a double cheese burger from Mcdonalds without the bun
Dinner was scrambled egg with a piece of salmon
I will have berries for snack or Khol rabi, saying that I fancy flax seed cookies
I agree that keeping fit is the key to good health, if you can do even 3 minutes a day more walking every day you would be fitter within a month :T

Looks like I've gone from one extreme to the other. From being so full all the time that I could hardly face eating, yesterday and today I've started to feel really hungry
Still got my dinner and a snack to have yet today but not convinced they will fill me up and I've been so tempted all day. Been someone's last day at work and so loads of snacks been lying around - I was feeling really starving hungry and a bit wobbly so did give in and have 2 small pretzels
Think I'd rather go back to feeling full all the time please!0 -

This is the trouble with any kind of diet it makes you think about food all of the time. What can I eat? Maybe that is why I like the 5:2 diet because on fast days you know you can't eat much and on the other days you can eat what you please. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
The thing is, I have never in my life done a diet. And to be honest I don't see this as a diet - surely a diet is a temporary change in ways of eating, which people ultimately stop and go back to 'normal' eating afterwards?
I've taken up LC not for weight reasons (although a loss will definitely be a bonus!) but for improved cardiac health. I really don't see it as a diet, but as a new way of eating (and I guess new way of thinking too).
I really have not been thinking about food at all, in fact quite the opposite. I have been so full until yesterday! Plus having all meals mapped out for the week means I don't even have to think what I might have for lunch or dinner, so probably think about food far less than I did before.
Am hoping this sudden hunger is just part of the settling down and getting used to things, so going to stick with it. I have felt much more, even and balanced somehow, since eating this way. And definitely want to try to continue if I can.0 -
I eat what I want every day and would never be hungry
Just eat a low carb version of whatever you want :A
It is a way of life for us, we never were overweight, we are enjoying the increased energy and not feeling bloated
Today I have been really busy so food was forgot about really
Breakfast and lunch was just some sliced khol rabi and celery
Dinner was a hot dog stir fry with zero noodlesLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
Hi Bootsbabe. I often get very hungry just before my period is due. I do eat more but try to stick to low carb snacks. If I can't shake it I usually find a milk shake with protein powder does the trick; Rose Elliot has some recipes.0

Low carb diets are really good to lose weight if someone is suffering from overweight.0

I have a couple of days off to get some christmas shopping done :j
I am going to make a fish pie for dinner tonight, 2 large pieces of smoked haddock mixed with a handful of prawns and 2 large bits of unsmoked cod. Mix with cheese sauce and topped with mashed cauliflower and lots of cheese
Breakfast will be toast if my delivery can get through the snowIf not I will have baon and egg.
Lunch will be baked sweet potato with coleslaw.
With the weather my shopping is going to be internet based.
Shiela I hope your back is better and boots babe I hope you fed your hunger with proteinLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0
