what are GG crackers?0
-
GG crackers. They don't taste of much but covered in tuna mayo are a good, high- fibre lunch, just don't eat too many in one day (if you catch my drift). They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0

I buy them for £1.55 a packet for 10, it would be good to know if people get them cheaper anywhere on the highstreet.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -

I bought some from amazon and they worked out cheaper, not sure of their price at the minute. I think you had to buy 10 packs at a time.0 -

I've used flax seed before, the same as when I do baked mushrooms, just roll/dip in egg white first - although you may not need this with the sausage meat, it should stick on it's own.0 -

I use that as breadcrumbs for most things except chicken. I prefer parmesan coating on chicken.
Breakfast was a slice of cheese on a GG cracker with a boiled egg.
Lunch was sausage and onion with mushrooms.
Dinner will be flax seed pizza base topped with mozzerella and pepperoni.
The buffet plans are coming along well.
So far:
Cheese savoury, egg mayo and chicken mayo pots to go with GG crackers.
Bacon crustless quiche.
Pork and chorizio mini meat balls.
Ham and cream cheese rolls.
Garlic and chive dip, guacomole and blue cheese dips served with cheese crisps and cucumber and celery sticks.
Stuffed mushrooms.
Cocktail sausages, plain and in a soya sauce marinade.
Hot dog, cheese and pickle sticks.
Chicken wings, plain, spicy and garlic coated.
Coleslaw salad leaves rolls.
Scotch eggs and chilli devilled eggs.
King prawn ring with rosemarie sauce.
Cinnamon roasted brazil nuts.
I need to start thinking about the sweet stuff and check out all the lovely recipes you have, I will just have to eat my trial runs
That sounds like a great buffet, when and where do you want us?
Re. desserts, just an idea - what I am intending to do for xmas - is make the flourless choc cake muffins into a proper cake (I think the recipe is on the first page, but I'll check...) with either 2 or 3 layers - dependant on visitor numbers - soak some cherries in some kirsch, whip some double cream, and put it all together as a black forest gateau. Should be yum.
Edit. Yes just checked and it is under 'murphydog's choc muffins', the recipe needs to be doubled to make a 7" round 'sandwich-type' cake. Obviously it's not going to rise as much as a 'normal' cake, hence maybe 3 layers might be good.0 -

That gateau idea is lovely! I'm gonna research that one and have a go. I'm sure it's best to try it out before Christmas, for research purposes you understand.. Thankyou.xx

It's finding kirsch miniatures that is stopping me try it, I don't want to buy a big bottle. I could get them from Amazon, but the postage is ridiculous; hardly anyone does miniatures any more.0 -
Hiya
Shelia - thank you for the receipe. i will be making it this week.
Pink - that buffet sounds really nice. think i might be copying that list for next time i need some inspiration.
Virgin_moneysaver - when i was going to make scotch eggs i was going to mix parmasan with crushed pork scratchings. there is also a lowish carb ryvita crackerbread (3ish carbs each i think) that you could try.
we have been away for the weekend. i did well with food but did drink too much beer.0 -
Morning all. Its grey and damp in Dorset, but I can see a small patch of blue sky, so ever hopeful!!
