Minihauk - you can do it but we all need motivation and it can be hard sometimes :( Sorry about the painful knees.

I am trying to get back to 35 - 40 carbs this week as I don't think that I can go lower at the moment.

Anyone tried anything new, recipes, advice etc.? :)

This is so quiet so either people have gone away or are afraid to post. Sad as it was such a happy friendly thread and really helpful as well.
  • Hi all
Over the last few days I have tried out low carb egg free pastry and pancake recipes and was quite please with both. And my weight appears to still be dropping but that is probably because I have had a cold and haven't felt like eating. I also made a lovely avocado dessert after getting 10 avocados for a pound at a market stall. Yum!
  • Hi all, sorry i've not been here for a while, but I haven't been low carbing. I have been drinking wine most evenings and having crisps and potatoes etc. But all that is going to change again.

Sheila, i've not had any more work at all. Rang the agencies and they are all saying its quiet. However, i've got some work booked in in December - about 8 days at a firm of solicitors, so that's something to look forward to.

I'm not that worried yet, as I've still got some of the money from recently. Then there will be cash for Christmas, and of course my DH gets his Christmas bonus. Things will be tight in January I should imagine, but i'm making hay while the sun shines so to speak.

Morning all, been lurking, but not much to add on the LC front at the mo. Just carrying on regardless, however, my husband has been looking at the 'marks daily apple' website recently, and I think from there was a link to 'Eat, Stop, Eat,' by Brad Pilon.

This is intermittent fasting (IF), you may have looked at the 5:2 thread which is similar, but this is 24 hour fasting, with no food inbetween. Anyway, my husband wanted to try it, so I just thought I would mention it, because I think it's easier to do when you are LC adapted.

We did one day the week before we moved, and for the next 2-3 days felt absolutely awful; I don't think we realised how stressful things were getting so it probably wasn't the greatest idea to start then. Now we are settled we started again and have been feeling fine. We do 2 days a week, starting after our evening meal, missing breakfast and lunch and then breaking with a milky coffee about 21 hours in, and then dinner again.

I find it quite liberating not having to stop what I'm doing to prepare food, or to think what to have, I can just get on with the day and not worry about it.

Weightwise you down, up, down, up, down, down, up, down, up, down, down, up etc etc, if you get the drift. Of course, you are going to be lower after the fast, and then go up after, but as time goes on the down weight gets more.

Personally, I think this benefits the body the same as carb-loading/cheat days, you are tricking it into cycles, so it doesn't get 'stuck' in the same mode. And if you are plateauing it might be worth considering.

IF is more to do with health benefits, than weight loss though, and there is a PDF of the book on the web if you want to delve deeper.

    BFN xx

    Afternoon all.
I am suffering now- I made pasta for our home ed group today(for lunch) and so I had some too.It was tasty, courgettes, peppers, tomato and cheese.
But I have a burning feeling in my chest. Isn't that odd, not stomach, definitely a tight, burning feeling in chest. It seems that I can tolerate potatoes so much better than pasta-not that I eat either generally.
I was reading on Marks Daily apple about how wheat has changed in the 60's and how much worse for us it has become. The old style wheat-spelt- is supposed to be more tolerable for those with gluten issues, so I might start trying that out for the odd occasion I have bread.
I used to be fine eating wheat, it seems that once you stop, your body won't tolerate it any more. I'm sure I've said this before, so sorry if I'm repeating myself.xx

Hi Marbett, I saw you thanking me on other threads :)

Been busy over last few days, not sure what I've been doing but don't seem to have had much time, so sorry for not posting. I'm just plodding on, most of my days are quite boring so I don't tend to have much to post about. It is a shame that people have been put off posting I really miss the friendliness and chatter.

  • Marrbett, funnily enough I'm doing lunch at our home ed group tomorrow.
I have just cooked pasta for the family and I had the same sauce as them with shredded runner beans, that really works for me so I always keep some in the freezer.

Morning all, feeling better today. Will avoid pasta like the plague!!!

Murphy, I thought Mark said that IF may not be the best for women to do-something about hormones etc. I'm quite interested in it all, but do you not eat anything at all?How do you not get yucky feelings cos of hunger?

Am going to try another jog down the road today. I am managing 10 press ups most days, but need to increase other exercise I think.
    Have a good day all.
Kafkaf, have a good group meeting today.xx(Bet you are doing autumn pictures.Lol)

    Morning all,

Its one of those days where I don't seem to be getting much done. Still haven't had a cup of tea this morning. Got work man in repairing/replacing a bathroom tap, Father in law has been to print something off as his printer is broken, window cleaner has been and cleaned the windows IN THE RAIN and I still haven't done any of the jobs I wanted to get done today. The main one is to dig out plants ready for new fence being put in tomorrow. Must get that done this afternoon.

Hope others are having a more productive day.

Hi, yes remember reading that, however not having any 'ladies bits for a long time, I'm not producing enough to worry about that!

Sometimes my stomach does start rumbling in the morning, but once you get past that the hunger goes. We generally break about 21/22 hours in - as I said with something satisfying like a milky coffee - by then you do feel like you could eat a horse!! I make sure we have a decent fat-rich meal the night before and it seems to keep us going.

Fluid is the key thing, you have got to keep drinking, 1 it keeps hunger at bay, 2 to stave off headaches, they will come on quickly if you don't. I drink water or green tea.

I've got plenty to do in the garden at the mo, so keeping active stops me thinking about anything else. It's easier than you think. :D

    LC recipe alert!
Just seen this on the good food guide, 6g carbs per serving.
