  • "low" not zero or lowest. Quote me posts where 'zero' or 'lowest' carb is said to be the best.

Well I got called a troll for suggesting parsnips which werent as low as something else.

remember a gram of fat has twice the calories of a gram of protein or carbohydrate and it still remains a fact that whatever diet you are on if you absorb more calories than you burn you are going to put on weight. That is simple 1st year physics.

This has been so thoroughly de-bunked I'm surprised you mention it.

yes sure it has. Dr Atkins has debunked the laws of conservation of energy:rotfl::rotfl:. Perhaps you can explain how excess fat is absorbed and miraculously doesnt get stored

All references are listed at the bottom of the articles.

This post is in deference to your lack of knowledge.

Funny you didnt answer the other question, and parsnips are rather high carb :rotfl:

  • Im sorry but you obviously didnt read what I wrote or possibly you didnt understand it or possibly you are being deliberately obtuse. your links dont really explain how the conservation of energy law is wrong. And I dont think I have suggested a high carb diet anywhere have I?. May be you could explain how the body stores energy for the future.
Parsnips are high carb compared to what? A cornflake or a victoria sponge. They are a root which is suggested as fair game for the human diet by Dr Atkins. Mind you he wasnt exactly small when taken out of the hospital after his death was he? And Im not sure I believe an American hospital would pump an excess 6 gallons of fluid into him while he was in a coma.
Low and high are a bit meaningless without a reference point

    You see?

    all you lovely low carbers,

One provides links which have links to further research. It's up to you.

    It will get better :rotfl:

    With time :rotfl:

Last piece of advice - and it's good.

Look who pays for the research - where the money comes from.

    Nuff said.

I'll see you on the other side :rotfl:

    What a twonk. :rotfl:

Parsnips are of higher carbs than other veg, duh.

Do you understand the concept of low carb?
(cutting well down on bread, pasta, wheat and sugar based products like biscuits, pastry, cake etc?)

Whereby one replaces higher carb food - veg usually as that kinda what's left - for lower carb versions?

See murphydogs post of carb values in veg to help you get your head around it

Usually, a lower than 10% carb content in a veg is considered lower carb choice. Parsnips are likely nice to some folk - not me bleh - but on a low carb thread, maybe broccoli or cauliflower would be a better option.

I know you have a problem with your calculations but they're not that difficult.

Cauli and broccoli soup with double cream and whilst cooking put in any parmesan rinds, turmeric and black pepper.

See - it's not difficult :rotfl:

  • Sorry, but I'm leaving this group. Just a bit too aggressive for a support group. Very sad as I'm certain you all have so much support to offer. I came on this morning hoping to see some lovely recipes, helpful tips and pleasant chatter and it isn't like that at all. :( Good luck to everyone though. I'll keep trying with my low carb diet. Thank you to those of you who have replied very helpfully to my questions.

Morning everyone, lovely sunny day here. Will be going to check out Lidl bargains later today.

I'm happy to report another 1lb weight loss and 2" lost from various parts of body :D

Low carb is working for me, mainly in managing the ME/Chronic Lyme Disease, losing weight is an added benefit.

Just like to point out that exercise is not absolutely necessary for weight loss. My OH has been following Slimming World and has lost almost 2st. Slimming World relies totally on food intake and does not take exercise into account at all. I do not follow SW because I have a gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance. SW contains a lot of pasta which in gluten free form is not very nice, so low carb is much more suitable for me and was recommended by my consultant.

  • Morning durham-mim, well done with the recent losses :T

Morning to everyone else too. What a beautiful morning it is too, after all the rain last week :j

I've been meaning to ask if anyone else has tried the Morrison's own make pate? (sorry, can't do accents on here)

The Brussels pate is 2.7g carb and the chicken and mushroom (very nice) is only 1.2g. They do a duck and orange too, but it's about 7.5g. I haven't tried that one yet.

I also dug out some Jamie Oliver cheeky chipolata sausages from the freezer last night, and they're only 1g carb too. About the same as Black Farmer. I'm having them for brekkie this morning. :)

Have a good low carb day everyone, and keep hanging in there. :A

Hi inspire. I'd like to apologise if my comments last night have made you feel like this. I don't normally get too involved with the 'politics'going on, but last night I'd got to the end of my tether, and wrote as I was feeling.
If you can lurk on this thread for a bit, you will find all that you were hoping for from this forum, we just get led astray sometimes!!!
    Best wishes.xxx
