  • Welcome jtr2803 and good luck.

Pleased your brother is coming home Sheila, but dont they seem to send people home quickly, especially after major operations. It could be good for his recovery though as we always feel better at home.

I've been at the hospital this morning for my blood test, as I see the encronologist for my diabetes in 2 weeks. This will tell me how my lower carb diet is going. I have cut fruit out, apart from berries for the past 3 weeks or so, but I do miss it :(
  • Hi all, been having house issues again so haven't been on much.

Sheila, glad to hear your brother is on the mend. Stress and not sleeping properly will stall any losses, hopefully you can start to relax a bit more now.

Elantan and JJJ x3 are noticable in their absence?
  • Hi all, and hello to jtr :hello:

Good news about your brother sheila :j I bet he'll be glad to be out of hospital. Good luck to him for the future.

Sorry to hear about your house issues murhphy :( Hope you get it sorted quickly.

    I don't want to boast (but I'm going to :D).............. I did 100 push-ups this morning :j

OK, so they were from the knees and I did them in 5 sets of 20, but I'm still pretty chuffed.

I've never been able to do even one press-up before - even when I've been reasonably fit in the past. So thanks again for your encouragement :A:T I'm still struggling with the full position though :o

This rest period between sets? Could it be as long as a week? :D

Cor! That's good. When you say from the knees, is that with your body in a straight line - no bottom in the air - or keeping yourself in 'box' shape with your bottom up? If it's the former that IS really good and you could try building on the full variety, if it is the latter, get your bottom down and do them with a nice straight line.

Just give yourself 30 seconds rest between sets. And make sure your stomach is pulled in really tight.

As you are so good at these, if you don't do the 'bridge' - or some people call it 'the plank,' - I think this is now achievable for you, and def of benefit. It would be easier for you to get a demo on utube than me to describe it. Well done :T

I tried really hard to keep my body in a straight line, but with my feet in the air. My feet wobble about like a counter-balance though, dunno if that's alright. I'm going to watch some videos to see what it should look like. And I'll keep trying for the full version. (going purple in the face with those though) :rotfl:

edit: Hmm, not as clever as I thought I was. I'm not going nearly low enough. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted. Back to the drawing board.

Have a good low carb day everyone.

murphydog - sorry about the house, what is going on? I did lose the 4lb that I had put on over the summer last week so am pleased. Now to see if I can break the barrier that I have been up against for a while. I go away for 4 nights on Sunday so we'll have to see.

Gray Malkin - you are really doing well so keep it up. Doing my best with exercise but not a patch on you.

alias - when is your hypnotherapy - good luck with it?

sweet - how are you today? I do count carbs using Fitday as I am sure that I will overeat otherwise. It also gives me vitamins, minerals, fibre etc which I like to keep an eye on

andrewsmum - yes they chuck people out much earlier than they did when I was nursing, many years ago now. Part of it is cutbacks and part, so I was told, because you have more chance of picking up an infection in hospital than at home :D

Have a good day everyone :)

The house we are buying is tenanted and we were led to believe in July that their agreement only had a couple more months to run. This is not the case! At one stage the vendor wasn't going to do anything about it - but we made it very clear that he would loose a sale otherwise, so they have since come to an arrangement. However we can't exchange until they are out and they have got to find somewhere yet - they hold all the cards and it's all very uncertain.

On the LC front, things were going very nicely for me and then I put on a kilo (2lb) and stayed there. The only thing I am doing differently is using the H & B flax mix with yogurt (nearly) every day and I'm wondering if this could be something to do with it.

It seems a bit obscure for such a small amount but I can't think of anything else. I'm sort of saying this out loud because Sheila is a flax fan and has been stalling, I might just give it a break for a while and see if anything changes.

murphydog - sorry to hear that, just when it seemd to be going well :( Let's hope that they find somewhere quickly but do they have a time period of notice?
With regard to flax, I use it for it's benefits and to keep regular, so to speak. You have had cakes etc from flax, have they caused the same problem?

alias - how is the diet going? I will be thinking of you on Thursday :)
  • Morning :hello:

Just a quickie - I've got loads to do today.

Hope everyone is well - well done on the 4lbs off SHEILA & best wishes to your Brother. Commiserations on the house problems murphy, hope it gets sorted soon. Well done on the push-ups Gray, I'm doing a piddling amount compared to you. Alias, hope the hypnotherapy goes well, let us know won't you??

    Meals for today:

    B1 - greek yoghurt & flaxseed
B2 - bacon, scramblies, half vine tomato
L - 2 buttered GG crispbreads with topping (to be decided)
D - chilli, cauli rice, sprouts, green beans (didn't have time to make this last night)

Hopefully some exercise today, but didn't have time to do anything yesterday :(

Hope everyone has a good LC day
