  • Just do what I do and let it all wash over you. It gets quite easy to skip through the nonsense after a bit of practice. As in many areas of life, when the moderates shy away, it leaves the field wide open for the nutters of this world to voice their opinions without fear of reproach (no offence intended to any of the nutters out there. :p)

    :T:T:T:T

If I could thank you twice I would! :A

Murphydog - thats excellent, thank you, saved me a job. :D fresh apricots and melons will be on my shopping list next week. I dont smoke an am cutting out/down on the alcohol so that will help.

Daska - thats very interesting about low carb and cancer. i am going to have a look now.

I love this thread, I really do appreciate all the information and support given. No one should leave due to trolls.

Edited to say: i have just had a look and the few pages I have read either do not mention a specific cancer and the others say breast cancer.

So low carbing for me means considerably less asthma attacks, feeling better, reducing the risk of getting cancer or slowing it down if (when according to my mum) I do get it. And by cutting out tomatoes I stop my fingers from aching/clicking. Enough Said!

And after cutting out alcohol i have lost 4lbs this week :D

Doing some digging myself as I couldn't remember. These were the various bits I found demonstrating an association (i.e. not necessarily causation): Brain, Pancreas, Colorectal, Breast, liver, gallbladder, respiratory tract, pancreas, urinary bladder, cervix and uterine cancer

And well done on the cutting down and loss :D

The rest of us are all as normal as they come. :rotfl:

Speak for yourself Sweetheart - I'm sat typing with a low carb crayon (not allowed anything sharp) up each nostril muttering *wibble*.

Seriously - big hugs Team LC for being so supportive and imformative.

Wish me luck today, aerobics tonite and on past form I empty the kitchen of food when I get home afterwards :-(.

Just a thought on apricots; dried apricots do, as mentioned, have much greater carb. content than fresh, but 1 dried apricot has the same carb count as 1 fresh one - they just removed the water and concentrated the nutrients.

So, out of season, dried apricots are a cheaper year round source of lycopines etc. - just have 1-2 chopped up and added to a low carb leafy salad or with some nuts.

I am going to try the 100 push up challenge - printed out the plan and am starting on day 1 of week 4 today as that is where my current max. reps. suggests I should go from.

    Best wishes to all!

    Wibble? :rotfl: Seriously? Wibble? :rotfl:

    Why 'wibble'? :rotfl:

The crayon thing doesn't seem particularly crazy to me...but wibble, well that points to a whole new level of craziness, imo.

    :p:p:D

Well I have no idea what I'm doing now. My low carb thing got thrown off track with my Ikea trip and I've struggled to get back on it since. I'm toying with cal counting but am worried about the 'can't stop at one' thing. If I get a taste for something....I'm dangerous. :undecided Why can't my fat just sodding well melt?!

Oh btw, I think daska is our new Ted. Remember him? :D

I have to shop later today and I have no clue whether I'm buying low carb or low cal. :(

IIRC he got banned, presumably because of his outspoken 'medical' advice - (seemed more like informed common sense to me). But hence my often qualifying things rather than stating them as outright facts, if you find me making absolute statements please pull me up on them as I'd quite like to keep coming back :D
