When I joined AA there were extremists there telling me that I was a loser coz I slipped and drank.
When I joined the church, there were people there who told me I was a sinner coz I was sleeping with my boyfriend. Again, extremists.
Now, i'm here on a low carb diets thread where there are extremists lurking.
Why can't people just get off other people's backs?
I'm out of here. Will stick to doing it on my own!0 -
Jerry - PLEASE don't leave us, I need people like you who take life by the scruff of the neck and steer it in a postive direction!
You are too valuable to us, if anyone on here is causing you a problem just ignore them, I need you to learn from and inspire me to do better every day.0 -
Hiya, thanks for that, will have a proper look when kids in bed. I looked at the food list and its stuff that is too high carb for me. I am not low carbing to lose weight, its because carbs affect my asthma.
Thanks again
What, even watermelon? You must be on very low carbs? because that is something else that I have most days. 40% more lycopene than tomatoes too!
I would be interested to know more about carbs and asthma as dh has asthma but won't give up rice and bread.0 -

Just do what I do and let it all wash over you. It gets quite easy to skip through the nonsense after a bit of practice. As in many areas of life, when the moderates shy away, it leaves the field wide open for the nutters of this world to voice their opinions without fear of reproach (no offence intended to any of the nutters out there.)

i just had a quick look, didnt notice melon, ds1 was needing me for help with jigsaw puzzle. I will have a proper look later and look at carb counts and add to my shopping list!thanks.
I only noticed last year when i went to my sisters and was trying to lose a few lbs by low carbing (have done it on and off for quite some time). she has cats which usually set off my asthma and i didnt suffer the whole weekend. so continued low carbing and my asthma improved and i could cut down on my inhalers. got a cough at the moment so its bad again. but i do notice that if i have high carb stuff like pizza etc I am really bad, if i were to just have more carbs than usual i get a tightness in my chest. luckily alcohol doesnt set my asthma off0 -

Ach don't be so daft.
The extremists don't last long, the normal folks soon see to that. There's no room here for folk who think they can tell others how to live then judge them if they don't comply.
The rest of us are all as normal as they come. :rotfl:
If it helps I can be the deflection mascot of the thread?
I can talk about how many chips I've eaten that day kinda thing and the extremists will just pick on me and leave everyone else alone. Howzat?
I don't mind, they make me laugh with their up their own @!!! attitude, and they can't even see it for themselves. It's a shame really.
So....see you later then?Herman - MP for all!0 -
Don't go Jerry!!! Ignore the idiots, there are always those on their high horses looking for people to trample on, just so they can feel superior and bolster their own pathetic over-inflated egos. If you go, they've won, don't let them!
I've had a rough few weeks so haven't been posting as feeling a bit crappy but had to de-lurk to say STAY! I always enjoy your honest posts and you're so thoughtful and supportive of others. Ignore the extremists, they're exactly that. The snarky 1% that pass through leaving negative comments, don't deserve your attention. Click 'ignore' and forget about them.0 -

Alias, that made me snort my coffee! Taking one for the team to deflect the trolls.. genius! I think to garner the most attention you'd have to do double carb confessions... chip sandwiches? Pasta & garlic bread?!!0 -

I too am delurking to say "STAY JERRY"
We have to each do what make us feel good/better, and no-one has the right to tell anyone else that their way is the only way to do something/anything....it isn't!!!!
Your posts are clearly enjoyed by the vast majority of folk on this thread...don't let idiots spoil it for you or us, by giving them your attention!!!!
