She seems to have a very obvious case of Narcissistic personality disorder and we should all just completely ignore her. She doles it out by the bucket load but can't take the merest sliver of criticism and the concept of debate is lost on her. Very frustrating woman!
Some of the posts in this thread are far worse than some of her posts. I miss her purchasing tips and alerts for special offers.
Her main bugbear about some of the advice here not being strictly low carb is as valid now as it ever was.
It's easy to gang up on someone but i think you should all lay off.0 -

We're the survivors, we have bodies that are finely tuned to survive periods of famine, it's an evolutionary advantage. (At least it would be if we still lived a hunter/gatherer life in tandem with the seasons.) We are responding to what our bodies do automatically, naturally.
Less blame needed
There's a lot of interesting research going on into the influence our gut flora has on our ability to process food and the strength of the urge we feel to eat.
It's very likely that the people who find it easy to resist food or who can eat a lot without putting on weight have very different bacteria in their intestinal tracts to those who struggle to lose weight or find food hard to resist.
Your gut has its own mini-brain which sends messages to the one in your head about what it wants/needs. Those demands are driven to a large extent by the bacteria.
If someone is feeling smug because they think they are "in control" and therefore a "better person" than those who can't resist something more to eat, their feelings may not be justified. It may be that they've been fortunate in the gut flora they have and are only having to use a very small amount of self-control compared to a massive amount that another person needs to resist the urge to eat.
And that's without taking into account what effect our genes have on us!
As daska says - less blame needed! Imagine that you're having to climb a mountain to get to the same place that someone else can reach by getting to the top of a small hill and pace yourself.0 -

There's also a study going on in Southampton at the moment about gut flora and autistic behaviours, it will be interesting to see the results of that one as well.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Please calm down and let's not have any nastiness.
Bedsdriver - you are quoting a post that is a month old. Edwardia has many good points but it does not help when you are trying to do your best and someone tells you that you are doing it wrong. She sources good quality products and eats healthily whilst low carbing. Unfortunately some people to not have the time or income to do the same and yet still try and need encouragement. It really shouldn't get personal as that is surely what this thread is about, to encourage, give information and gently admonish when necessary.
As was stated before the general rule medically for a low carb diet is anything under 150g a day. Most people are trying to get by on much lower than that but it does depend on
a) the reason for following this way of eating
b) how much weight there is to lose
c) what works for the individual
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, it is what makes us interesting as people, but please try to be positive if you can.
Good luck and brownie points to anyone who has stuck with it today. :T I have been good so far and will try to do so for the rest of the day, expecting to have 45 carbs in total.0 -

I feel so much more enlightened now, knowing your thoughts on my comments.
No, really, I do. (Despite the fact you're a bit late to the party but never mind.)
Thanks for taking the time, your thoughts are important to me/us.
p.s. does anyone know if heavy sarcasm is carb free? :think:Herman - MP for all!0
