  • You are all right. If I left, it would give a certain someone and their sidekick a good deal of satisfaction. I think its true that sometimes, certain people are not happy and they try to put others down to make themselves feel better. Its not the way forward. If you give kindness, you get kindness back!

I'm sure these people don't want to be disliked deep down.

I'm not going to quit. I really appreciate those who have asked me to stay. I feel a bit silly and a bit of a drama queen now, but this post will be yesterday's news.

So.. Last night, I had a full roast dinner without the potatoes. Was yummy. Roast pork.. really turned out tender.

    Today:

    L: beef and cheese slices
D: Fish pie, but I will be scraping the mash off mine. Going to make it in a bit. need to pop out and purchase some double cream.

Thanks again. And a hug for all you lovely people on here.

Ach don't be so daft. :D

The extremists don't last long, the normal folks soon see to that. There's no room here for folk who think they can tell others how to live then judge them if they don't comply.

The rest of us are all as normal as they come. :rotfl:

If it helps I can be the deflection mascot of the thread?

I can talk about how many chips I've eaten that day kinda thing and the extremists will just pick on me and leave everyone else alone. Howzat? :D

I don't mind, they make me laugh with their up their own @!!! attitude, and they can't even see it for themselves. It's a shame really.

    So....see you later then? :D

Hahahaha. You're lovely. Funny and lovely.

So my question, I eat tomatoes because of the cancer fighting properties (bit of a problem in my family and we may all be tested for a cancer gene), is there any other veg/salad/fruit i can get this same cancer fighting properties from other than tomatoes as I quite like not having aching/clicking fingers?

Things like this keep cropping up about lycopene....

Numerous studies correlate high intake of lycopene-containing foods or high lycopene serum levels with reduced incidence of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and macular degeneration. However, estimates of lycopene consumption have been based on reported tomato intake, not on the use of lycopene supplements. Since tomatoes are sources of other nutrients, including vitamin C, folate, and potassium, it is not clear that lycopene itself is beneficial.

Most brightly coloured F & V that have vitamins A,C,E, are classed as anti-oxidents and are meant to have cancer fighting properties, however if you would still rather play safe, there is not too much to worry about (carb-wise) about melon. Watermelon is 8g carbs per 100g (that's quite a bit of melon!) and canteloupe or honeydew is 9g per 100g.

Another fruit that has it are apricots (although I haven't checked the quantity) and an average apricot is 4g carbs per 100g (stay away from dried though!)

Also lycopene is a fat soluble substance, so requires the presence of fat for it to be absorbed. Obviously you don't smoke, but alcohol affects absorption as well.

I'm glad someone mentioned the 'ignore' button - didn't realise it was there before - much more civilised now :T

I tested out my pushup skills this morning, I can do 24 "man" ones if you don't make me put my chin on the floor!

If those are done on the floor, with the whole body off the floor (no knees) I'm impressed :T

Hooray! Go Jerry! *gets her pom poms out and does a cheer*

Now I've de-lurked, I might as well stay, SO not going to state my food list! Needless to say it's bad. Had house guests, birthday parties, stressed out Husband, terrible toddler + house sale stress going on and my head has been totally elsewhere. (and I know these are all 'excuses' if I was focused, these things come and go without making a difference to what I'm shovelling into my face, but there you go!) I'm so far off the wagon, I can't even see it. In fact when I do get back on it I'm probably going to need a full tank of petrol, a map, and some rock climbing equipment just to get to it ;-)

Tomorrow, as they say, is another day! Almost the end of the school holidays and i'll be able to get back into my routine properly then.

Hope you've all had a good day x

    I'm really glad you're staying Jerryx3.

nuttybabe - I understand it's also the case that a large proportion of cancers are negatively affected by eating low carb because they can't get the energy they need in order to grow. So it may be worth looking at the types of cancer that run in your family and checking whether this is the case with them.

    Hi

Out today and had a scoop of ice cream and a mouthful of brownie with a salmon salad. I was with a friend who has been following a vegetarian paleo diet whilst I have been low carbing. She suggested that we should have a treat when we go out whilst sticking to the diet at home so I agreed :o Didn't have a glass of wine though and she did.
I have now been doing this for 14 months but maybe she is right so why do I feel so annoyed with myself.

We need each others support so jerry, jerry, jerry don't get upset. It is a bit like family life, there are sometimes disagreements but they blow over and things get back to normal.

cherrypies - don't lurk as we all have bad days, good to see you posting

murphydog - hope that it all works out ;)

I feel so much more enlightened now, knowing your thoughts on my comments.

No, really, I do. (Despite the fact you're a bit late to the party but never mind.)

Thanks for taking the time, your thoughts are important to me/us.

p.s. does anyone know if heavy sarcasm is carb free?

No idea but the ignore button can help make this thread carp free ;)
    )

    brilliant :T:T
When I joined AA there were extremists there telling me that I was a loser coz I slipped and drank.

When I joined the church, there were people there who told me I was a sinner coz I was sleeping with my boyfriend. Again, extremists.

Now, i'm here on a low carb diets thread where there are extremists lurking.

Why can't people just get off other people's backs?

I'm out of here. Will stick to doing it on my own!

glad you have decided to stay, there are some brilliant people on this thread with a huge knowledge base, there is so much support and information available and best of all theres a fair amount of humour too, which makes everything more bearable :D
ignore the trolls they go away eventually x
